The new cadets would now become rookies and join the ranks of the Uni police force which had been sorely tested this year with one of the most difficult cases for a small Midwest town to experience. He thanked the entire police force for everyday they put forth the effort, sometimes putting their lives on the line for the safety of Uni citizens as they had definitely done this year and would continue to do. He then introduced the new Mayor of our small city and the new police chief to say a few words and make a few presentations before we graduated these new rookies.

The mayor spoke first talking about the upheaval in our town and how it was necessary to heal the trauma that happened here and support those that had righted the wrongs that were going on for some time. He thanked the new police chief Conner for outstanding police work in connection with that investigation, an investigation he said he didn’t even know was going on at the time. It was that secret because it involved his predecessor the previous mayor and the previous police chief . Then he introduced Conner who he said was going to make a couple of commendations to those that showed exceptional bravery in all that happened. Conner got a large applause from all in attendance.

Conner thanked the mayor, joking he was happy they could finally speak candidly about events going on in Uni now after everything was out in the open finally. Conner talked briefly about the investigation and the numerous individuals that worked for months on finding irrefutable evidence that led them to the arrests made and ultimate convictions that would happen for the individuals that had used our town for nefarious purposes. Conner said one police officer worked undercover with others on his own time to try to nail the perpetrators, and as a result was injured, nearly killed, being shot when the busts took place, putting himself in eminent danger to secure the evidence needed to assure the busts would be prosecuted to the fullest extent. He then named Lucky using his proper name, of course which most people didn’t recognize, then Conner said he was more well known as Lucky in the force. He asked Lucky to come up on stage. Lucky got a standing ovation from the crowd in attendance. Conner shook his hand then saluted him. Lucky saluted him back. The mayor shook Lucky’s hand and patted him on the back. They asked him to say a few words.

“I guess you do what you think you have to do to get things done. All I did was what I thought any of my other fellow officers would have done and did it as best as I could. I wasn’t alone. My cadet partner at the time did some very over and above the call of duty undercover work also. I played lookout for him as well as for others, but he was right in the middle of it. Was his part dangerous? We didn’t think it was that dangerous at the time, but it could have turned that way in a heartbeat which is why we kept eyes on him all the time. He didn’t have to volunteer for that assignment, but he did, and played his role like an Oscar wining actor at some personal expense to himself. In my mind, he’s really the hero. He’s my hero anyway. I have the upmost respect for Rowen, and you all should know that,” Lucky said getting large applause. Conner presented him with a leather clad award of some sort and shook his hand again along with the mayor. They had Lucky stand to the side and await the next presentation.

“I would like to also recognize the cadet partner of Lucky’s who worked tirelessly with him and others to expose a prostitution ring going on in our town which was linked directly to all the other illicit drug activity, extortion and bribery going on that was taken down. Rowen come up here and be recognized. Everyone stood up and applauded him. His fellow cadets cheered him on, chanting Rowen over and over. Conner shook his hand, then the Mayor. “Rowen here went above and beyond going undercover exposing the prostitution ring going on here in Uni. Lucky and others tutored him but he pulled it off flawlessly and his work led to the arrest of the ring and ring leaders. He hadn’t graduated from the academy even, but did what he thought he needed to do anyway, not worrying about whether he was an officer of the law yet. Because of what he did and for his dedication to his partner, he missed his final exams and finishing up his academy requirement and is not able to graduate today. However, we are here to honor him for his service to our community and make an exception to our requirements for passing his final exam. The academy will allow him to take his final exam at a time convenient to him and the academy, and upon successful passing of his written test, the head of the academy, the Mayor and I will graduate him at such time. We consider the undercover work he did more than enough credit for his apprenticeship time. In the meantime, he is considered an honorary graduate as of today and will be treated with the same respect all our other graduates are bestowed here today,” Conner said, then asked if Lucky had any words or encouragement on his behalf.
 
Chapter 794 - F

“Ladies and Gentlemen, I can’t say enough about the efforts this young man has put forth during his apprenticeship riding with me. I swear, I trust him as my partner to have my back as well as any 20-year veteran of the Uni police force. He’s worked with me and the FBI on this case and has proven his courage over and over again without recognition. He continues to do that today, tending to my personal needs while I recover. He’s a true partner that never left my side and made sure I was comfortable and taken care of when I wasn’t always the best patient. All I can say is that I’d be proud to serve beside him anywhere. They both had tears in their eyes. Even I did. Lucky couldn’t have been more moving hailing his fellow partner and lover also. Conner and the mayor presented Rowen with a regular police badge that had honorary on the bottom of the badge. Conner told Rowen he would replace that with a real one once he took his final and graduated. The mayor and Conner shook both Rowen’s and Lucky’s hands again then Lucky put his arm over Rowen’s shoulders as they both walked off the stage to cheers from the crowd. I stood up and hugged them both when they got back to our seats. I told them how proud I was of them.

The head of the academy then started the official graduation process having each of the cadets come up when their names were called. He gave a brief mention of each one as far as background and other anecdotal information. There were cheers from families of each of the eleven cadets. The three of us cheered for Troy, getting his attention and smile when he went up after his name was called and stood across the stage with the rest of his fellow cadets. It appeared that each cadet could have someone personal to them pin on their badges when the time came. Neal was standing behind Troy, his designated pinner it seemed. The mayor and Conner presented each badge to the pinners shaking the cadets hands, then after each received one, they announced they were all graduated. Cheers went up as they got their badges pinned on them.

There was a receiving line for the cadets once the ceremony was over. Rowen and Lucky went down and congratulated each of them and was rightfully congratulated in return, the cadets telling Rowen he was more of an officer than they were for what he had accomplished. That made him feel proud. Lucky kept patting Rowen on the back telling all the new cadets he was extremely proud of him. Lucky shook Troy’s hand, Troy getting razzed about being Lucky’s new rookie partner. Troy said he couldn’t be more proud of the fact he had that opportunity. Rowen told Troy to watch out as Lucky was a character. Troy said he heard that from so many different people already. Rowen assured him it was true.

There was a reception afterwards. We stayed for a few minutes. Troy got to introduce us to his parents, who seemed like really nice people and very proud parents of their son’s graduation. They were especially excited to meet Lucky and Rowen and told me they’d heard a lot about me also and the fact that Troy was going to be helping out with security on certain nights at the CNB. I told him I’d see him when I saw him then.

“I love you, Lucky, but I am going to Florida on Tuesday and will be there for a while at least. If you figure it out sometime, let me know. I’m still struggling with that myself. Maybe some time away from each other will help us find out how we really love each other. It almost has to be unconditionally. If there are any doubts, I don’t think it could work, but who knows we might think totally different about one another after we have some time away. It’s obvious now, we’re both unsure of our true feelings at this time. This is totally new to me also. Hell, I haven’t even had a girlfriend for shit’s sake. Now I’m dealing with a possibility of a life partner with a male. Talk about fucked up. I’m really fucked up in that area. You both agree that time will tell and you should go with the flow. You guys can talk to each other every day if you need to. I would encourage you to talk often and express your true feelings, not hide any concerns or fears. Speak truly and candidly and see what develops. I think your plan makes totally sense,” I replied.

“Well tell me this since we’re being candid and truthful here, Rowen. Do you love Kenny any at all?” Lucky asked.

“I care about him, Lucky. I can’t say that I love him. I don’t have that emotional connection to him so far. He’s been dealt a shit hand, and I want to help right that. I don’t know exactly why, but like taking care of you, I feel compelled to help him get back on his feet. He’s done some pretty bad things in his life he should have known better, but did them anyway, like screwing Kyle over, one of the best guys you could ever know. I get he was coerced into doing that, but I feel like you and I would never have done that to someone we supposedly cared about. Maybe he’s a little emotionally immature also. I don’t know that yet. Hell, everything is up in the air which is why I think we all need to take a breather and let things settle down to get a clearer picture of the world we live in,” Rowen explained. “One thing I do know is, this guy here, Josh, has taught me more about love and life than anyone in this world and I’ll always love him with my heart and my body. Too bad Jake found him first,” Rowen chided. I told him he was so bad but so loved also.

In fact, they weren't sure how to explain it. I hope it made some kind of sense in the way it was written. This next chapter has a lot in it although the time period covered isn't that lengthy. Chapter 795 – Kenny Asks Questions & A New Infatuation Develops at Gay Night

I was relieved to know that two of my favorite friends had arrived at a sensible arrangement to explore their feelings for one another. Maybe Lucky would be better off not having a significant other in closed relationship. Benji and Tyler live in an apartment over a garage owned by Benji’s uncle Woody who is heading up are construction group down there for the new Phallic Palace and the Grand Victorian. Tyler actually named the Grand Victorian which is the hotel we’re building there. Woody’s crew also renovated and expanded the new CNB we just recently purchased. When you’re feeling better, Kenny, you and Rowen might want to work at the new CNB or possibly the male resorts we have there. We have great need for personnel at any of our properties there, some of which are not open yet. I just wanted you to know that you will be legitimately employed in Key West. I’ll let you guys pick which ones you want to work at. Tyler will help you with all of that. He and I are pretty close. Parker, who you know Kenny from the CNB in the City that allowed drug sales to go on there, is the general manager of the new CNB in Key West. He’s on probation but so far doing a great job. Tyler is also there, as my emissary helping with the new CNB while also working on the restoration of the new Grand Victorian which was the reason he was down there this summer. If you need anything at all, Tyler will be your point man, or you can just call me, but Tyler’s the one familiar with everything going on there in Key West. We have a corporate attorney there also who specializes in corporate law and real estate. His name is Greer and was originally our first attorney we hired to put the first CNB together in the City. He was Stoney’s love and lived with him until he left us. Greer was so shaken by Stoney’s passing that he had to get out of the business for a time, but he never lost touch. Stoney passed in Key West where he loved to be. Greer ended up living with the manager of the place where Stoney passed, having spent Stoney’s last days there with him and getting to know everyone. He never wanted to come back to the ranch in the City where Stoney and he lived. He’s there also. He has a hungry ass, so beware or he might entice you to take care of him, not that it’s all bad at that. He’s a character and loves living there. He takes care of all our legal needs there in Key West, and we have him on a board of directors for a financial institution we own in Chicago. We get him out of Key West occasionally because his significant other is a bit strange and doesn’t particularly like me because of my relationship with Greer back in the day. Samuel is a little strange in his ways, but they cohabitate rather nicely from what Greer tells me, although he is a connoisseur of different dick from time to time, so I’m told,” I explained making Kenny and Rowen chuckle. “You’ll both really like him, and like I said, he dates back to before we opened the first CNB and then later he merged Stoney’s company with ours creating Stoney Enterprises which has now grown into the company it is today,” I added. Rowen and Kenny were both blown away.

“Josh, and this is just for my own edification so don’t get upset with me, but could you tell me who bailed out Kyle when the bank was going to foreclose on his property? W&S were totally blown away as was Hastings at the bank when that happened. I was still out west at the time, but they continually talked about there was no financial institution in the country that would lend Kyle the money to pay off that crazy loan of his. They couldn’t find out who it was. They figured someone had to genuinely believe in him or had billions of dollars and didn’t care if they lost a half-million to bail him out. They’ve been beside themselves ever since. I fell down on my knees and thanked the Lord, although I was pretty sure he didn’t like me, for helping Kyle out and saving him from those awful assholes. I was just wondering who the hell loved him enough to sacrifice what they did to save him from those lechers,” Kenny asked.

“Did I mention there was a financial institution in Chicago we had an interest in?” I asked Kenny. He broke down in a huge smile, shaking his head.

“Do you like love everyone that has a hard time? I swear the stories I’ve heard are like you’re the guardian angel for all of us that are gay and trying to make it in this world?” Kenny asked.

“Me, I just like to help those that need help from time to time. Just like you, Kenny. It’s actually no risk, which actually scares me at times. You know every time we help someone right a wrong, it comes back to us with new business opportunities. We have honestly never lost a dime helping anyone. Look at how Kyle made out with that bad loan. W&S had a huge settlement with him gaining him back over three times what he lost. Then he merged his company with Hal’s and then took that over, also getting the new science building project at the University. He then merged his company with Tod and Chad’s company which has ballooned into one of the largest construction companies in the state. Kyle is set for life for a horrible half-million dollar loan that no one would back him for. I couldn’t see any risk in that one, although every bank in the country wouldn’t lend him any money. Kind of was a no-brainer to me. Look at him now,” I replied. Kenny was in awe and just shook his head. “What, I didn’t say I bailed him out, did I?” I asked. Kenny was still shaking his head.

“Brilliant, just brilliant, Josh. I was so happy to hear he survived all the bullshit they put up against him to destroy him. I laughed every time they brought it up, and they did almost daily, that it should never have happened and that was the beginning of the end of all of them, which, in reality, it was the beginning of the end. Their sick sons got their asses in deep trouble. They found the boys were dealing drugs. They had to pay out an enormous sum to Kyle for destruction of his property. Hastings lost his job at the bank. Dickerson lost his job as President of the University. I mean the whole house of cards came crashing down and then the mob got involved trying to salvage the drug business. It was crazy how fast all that turned to shit. They brought me back from out west against my better judgement, lying to me about everything which was par for the course. I got sucked deeper and deeper into the organization trying to keep the two idiot sons out of trouble while I tried to keep their business going. What a fucking mess it was. I couldn’t be more grateful being on this side of the law finally and associating with those that make a positive difference in this world instead of those that destroy lives with drugs. I am so relieved. I’m not kidding, I really didn’t care if I died or not stepping in the line of fire for Lucky as I was just so tired of living the life I had. It was horrible, nothing was meaningful, just bullshit. Talking to Clay and seeking his help, listening to Cal and doing his bidding, life finally started to show some kind of hope all of a sudden. But that day Lucky and I got shot, I thought to myself, I didn’t care as the pain would soon go away and I didn’t have to suffer any more. You guys have been lifesavers and I couldn’t be more grateful,” Kenny told us. We all gave him a hug.

“Glad to have you on our team now, Kenny. Keep your nose clean and work hard for us, and I’ll work my ass off here with Cal to help keep you from jail time. We’ll be able to claim you have gainful employment, were the key to breaking this case, and are doing well so there is no reason other than probation for any further punishment. Might be kind of hard convincing a jury of that, but we have the best defense attorney in the state working on that,” I told him.
 
Chapter 795 - C

“How could I possibly ever repay you for your kindness and care? I just don’t know that I’ll ever be able to do that,” Kenny asked. I smiled.

“Work hard and love your life now. You’ll get through this and contribute to us as a whole. Help others like us when you can or anyone you care about gay or straight. That’s what we’re all about,” I replied. Kenny gave me another hug. “Hey, I’m going with you on Tuesday so I’ll be with you a few more days,” I assured him. Rowen said he wasn’t giving me up that soon. Kenny chuckled with Rowen.

“I’ll be all alone then,” Lucky said frowning. I told him he was never alone ever since I rescued his ass from the icy storm drainage ditch that night. That made him smile. “Changed my life that day, you did,” Lucky said chuckling. I had to chuckle with him. “I guess I actually owe Simon and Spence a thank you for what they did that night that led me to you guys and caused my near freezing death, but then rebirth. Fuckers. I could have shot them both that night for what they were doing,” Lucky stated. Kenny said he wished he had, but then he might not have been with us today if that happened.

While the conversation was fun, I told the boys I needed to get back to get ready for Gay Night. Kenny said he wished he could be there as he’d heard it was a great time. He said he really couldn’t show his face around town that much when he was working, and definitely couldn’t now, but he said, everything he’d heard said it was a great time for all of us who were like minded. Lucky said that even though he wasn’t going to be at the house on Sunday, he’d appreciate if we could send over steaks for them to enjoy Sunday evening. I told him I’d see what I could do, which he took to mean I would make sure they ate as well as we did.

It was late afternoon by the time I got back to the CNB. Mick had been playing video games with Garth and Dylan. From what I gathered from them chuckling about winning and losing, whoever lost had to do something sexual for the other two. Jake was downstairs I was told working with Terry and Johan on a couple of new routines for their act. He returned upstairs shortly with Terry who was ready for a beer. We ate our dinner then headed downstairs in our undies for another Gay Night. Tex and Clark both looked damned hot in their undies. “I don’t know why, Josh, but having met you and hanging with you guys some after he gets done at Lucky’s, Troy has really changed. He’s like a new person. Before he was quiet, somewhat shy and reclusive. He didn’t go out much. Now, he’s super happy, excited and can’t wait to be with you guys. He’s a totally changed guy, which Conner and I are happy to see. He seems to have made a lot of new friends hanging with you guys. Maybe one of those might turn out to be a boyfriend. I know he feels somewhat inhibited living with Conner and me, but now that he has a full-time job with the department, he’ll be able to afford his own place and have his own privacy. Conner and I told him if he wanted to bring someone to our home sometime, he was welcome to, but I know he’d feel embarrassed about it. We’ve told him we’re of like minds so him having sex with some dude didn’t bother us at all as long as he was protected. He’s almost caught Conner and I going at it a few times. Now that might be embarrassing although we’re not that much older than he is, but still, he thinks because he’s a guest in our home, he has to adhere to a whole different level of decency. We told him we didn’t so why should he,” Neal said making me laugh.

“I heard you asked him if he got to see Lucky naked yet,” I told Neal to his surprised face, then shit-eating grin.

Damn him anyway, but don’t ever tell him to stop as I love the view,” Neal replied. I laughed. “Damn, if that boy were gay, he’d have half the males in town lusting after him, and I might be first in line,” Neal chided, again making me laugh.

“Hey, I’ve invited you and Conner over for showers and whatever anytime you want to come. You guys don’t have to lead a protected life if you’re interested in other sights,” I offered. Neal got excited.
