Yes, as Thanatos noted, Jerome has mellowed. He did make mention to Rowen that he used to be somewhat of a prick. I think we all agree on that. I'm not convinced Jerome really changed. Hard to change the spots on a Leopard as I think was mentioned somewhere in this story. Now Rowen is trying to figure out what it all meant, the intimacy shared. Was it real or imagined. Chapter 769 – Logan Fesses Up

Once the batch had been moved to the fermentation tanks, then the boys would start another batch so we’d basically have a large amount brewed every week then. He said they didn’t start out with too big a batch until they knew what the demand would be. “For the rest of you, I gave Nate and Jordan an assignment this morning to study contract language to see where it could benefit us. They seem to have found the answer. I then gave them a briefing on the brewery and told them I’d put Eric in charge of that enterprise to report to us whenever necessary or at least to give a report to us quarterly with the boys. Then I told them that Eric had promoted Trent to our second in command, the assistant CNB Manager under him as he was getting more involved in the brewery, which we thought might eventually be a major enterprise for us and we needed it done right.

I then brought up the fact that our fiscal year end was coming up in the fall kind of coinciding with the opening of the CNB here in Uni and that after we reviewed the profits from the consolidation of companies we should consider a raise for all our employees. I asked Taylor to start looking at the various classes we had for compensation and to get together with Ken, Jordan and Nate to decide what might be appropriate. Taylor said he’d already started working on the various pay scales and would have some recommendations in the near future, but would discuss them with the ones I mentioned. Jordan said we should have an official board meeting once we had the fiscal year results. I told him that was up to him as to when. That’s just what happens when you grow. I don’t want to lose touch with those that helped us get started. “I found some smaller breaches, ones I wouldn’t be upset about and think they have little relevance to the overall management agreement, but they haven’t applied for a license in this state to operate the business they are to perform for us. Not sure if they have their company registered with the Secretary of State’s office as of yet, but technically they should have by now as I believe they have personnel hired and are on a payroll. Question is are they collecting and paying payroll taxes yet, as well as state income tax withholding. Ordinarily, I wouldn’t be concerned about this until a couple of weeks before operations officially started when we turn the building over to them to officially manage. There are few technical breaches there that aren’t worthy of breaking the contract, but could be if they aren’t remedied by the time they begin operations. A lot of companies apply for this stuff retroactively, but I always believed that was sloppy business, not to say it isn’t done and can’t be done. You’ve put us in that position a couple of times by buying things right off the bat, although I will say we’ve cleaned everything up within hours of that happening. Greer took care of all the licensing in Key West for us, and did great job of it. He’s been a big help for us being down there and taking care of things, in case you were wondering,” Nate informed me. I told him Greer was always meticulous about legal matters as were he and Jordan which made me proud.

“So bottom line if you want to sever our relationship with Logan’s company, we can do it, especially if he was not to be part of the management team when we go live. There might be some liability there, such as wages paid to date by current personnel by the management company, and any admin costs they’ve prepaid on our behalf since we haven’t paid them a dime yet. “So I worked in this gay bar, tending bar my senior year of college. Well actually, it was only a for a couple of weeks. At the beginning it was kind of fun actually. The manager was a great looking guy, very personable and treated me rather special. A couple of the other guys working there, said he really liked me and thought I was kind of hot. They said he thought I was not only hot, but a great guy to be around, thoughtful and caring. I took this to mean he might have a crush on me of some sorts. I kind of liked the idea maybe there might be something there between us. Okay, I was interested, but never had done anything sexually with another guy before. I didn’t know the first thing about a relationship with a guy. I was scared and excited all at the same time. I thought my experience working in a gay bar might help me understand the whole culture much better, one that had been bothering me some, making me want to know more. Although I had no sexual experience at all, guys would flirt with me and ask me if I was a top or bottom, what kind of dudes I liked the best. I never gave them straight answers but just went with the flow. Of course they wanted to know if I had a boyfriend or not. I just told them I was between boyfriends at the time. They then thought I was working there in search of another one and several of the regulars offered to be my boyfriend. The more you flirted the more tips you made which we all know to be true. I was so afraid they’d find out I was a virgin and give me all kinds of grief. It was the first guy that had ever paid attention to me in my life, and I loved being near him and kissing him. My heart went full on crazy for him. So, I was all happy and excited waiting until the next night I was scheduled to work, thinking this was going to be the big night I got to show my love for another guy. I was so damned excited, I couldn’t hardly stand it,” Logan told us as Will and I were totally in awe, both of us half-believing up to this point, Logan was somewhat homophobic.

“This is amazing, so what happened next?” Will asked excitedly. Logan teared up again which led us to believe something wrong happened.

“Well, he asked me earlier in the shift if I had any plans for after work. I told him I was all his. Bad choice of words, thinking about it later. He scribbled his address on a piece of paper and stuck it in my pocket, coping a feel of my raging boner in the process, then smiled at me and gave me a quick kiss. The shift ended, and he and I took off. We arranged to meet at his place in a half hour. He told me to go home and change into something comfortable. Hell I went to my apartment, quickly showered, put on some shorts and a t-shirt like I have now, some clean underwear, although I debated on whether to wear any underwear at all, wondering which would be quicker to get my clothes off to have sex. I begged them to let me go as this was not what I thought it was. The four of them forced me down and, needless to say, had their will with me. “For the record, Jake, Will and I truly love you, Logan and you can bank on that for life,” I told him. He hugged us even more.

“I don’t know what I’d do without you guys. I sense honest caring from you guys like I’ve never felt before in life. Needless to say, for a long period of time after that experience, I was homophobic,” Logan explained. Will and I believe it was for good reason and thought we would have been too had it happened to us that way.

“So what happened after it was all over? Did you press charges against those guys, as they literally raped you, Logan. They can’t do that against your will,” I commented.

“They told me I was officially part of their club now and I could participate in the next newbie’s initiation. They all welcomed me and poured beer on me in a celebration. I told them all to go to hell and I could never do anything like what they’d done to me to another human being. I equated sex with love, not rape. That seemed to piss them off hearing that. They told me I needed to get my expectations lowered as guys just had sex. Love was too fleeting an emotion. The thrill was getting new ass to fuck or dick to fuck you. No one had time for the hassle of love. I got dressed and walked out, telling them again to go fuck themselves. They told me if I said anything to anyone, there were four guys that said it didn’t happen to only one of me, and I had a very vivid imagination. I feel ashamed now,” I told him. Will said he did also. Logan told us he handles everything well now, and he knows we were pure in sprit with our friendship and care for him which is why he wanted to stay with us forever. “So, you shared this story with Bernard. What was his take on it as it’s an overwhelmingly powerful story that had to bring him to his knees, I’d think?” I asked.
 
Chapter 769 - F

“Bernard said, ‘so you’re gay then’? I told him I thought I once was, but I wasn’t anything anymore because of what happened that night. I told him that’s why I was so uncomfortable being in that gay bar tonight. It traumatized me to a certain extent. He said he could see why now and was sorry that we went. He said he couldn’t imagine why I wasn’t having a good time as he thought it was fun. I asked him if he was gay. He laughed it off, said he liked going to gay bars for shits and giggles and hadn’t been to one in a long time. He said he wouldn’t want to go alone, but going with me, guys would think we were boyfriends and we could get away with more teasing. I told him that was wrong. Then he asks me what it was like to have a dick up my ass as he’d always wondered what that’d be like. I told him it hurt like hell, and I didn’t even want to think about it. I told him then, he was too curious not to have thoughts about gay sex. He blew it off, saying he just wondered about things like that but would never act on anything. I reminded him that I never cared to date girls but I’d never seen him with one, and asked him what his excuse was, thinking maybe he was curious about guys for a reason. That pissed him off. I told him to go to bed and sleep it off. I said we’d forget we ever had this conversation.

“Can’t say, as a supposedly best friend, he was that sympathetic to what you shared with him. You had Will and me in tears over what happened and it didn’t seem to affect this Bernard that much,” I commented.

“No, it didn’t, Josh. But after that conversation he started trying to pick up girls. He’d bring various ones back to the apartment and be sure I got to see them. Sometimes they’d spend the night and the next morning he’s show them off to me. He wanted to make sure I saw he was dating girls. He wasn’t doing a very good job of acting, because it didn’t bother me at all, but he didn’t look all that excited about it either. One of them kissed him goodbye in the morning and told him ‘better luck next time. Maybe he’d be over his problem.’ I took that to mean he had a hard time getting it up or didn’t get it up at all,” Logan said smiling. Will and I shook our heads, chuckling.

“Was he still pretty friendly towards you after that or was he trying to prove a point to you that he was straight?” Will asked.

“It wasn’t unusual for us to see each other naked from time to time moving in and out of the bathroom. There were times when he’d shake his cock at me and ask me if I wanted some straight boy cock to suck on. I was not going to be someone he could go to on the side to get his jollies, someone to give him a double life. I told him if he truly loved me, he would never ask me to do something like that. Well, that just pissed him off to no end. I don’t know what he was thinking or expecting, but it didn’t happen. It was hard for me to get through the wedding ceremony and the reception. I left as soon as I could from the reception. From then on out, it was like we were enemies. I guess he figured if his life was going to be miserable, then mine was going to be also, not that I asked for any of that,” Logan told us. Wil and I were in total shock at what all transpired between Bernard and Logan.

“Why did he think he needed to persecute you though? I mean you didn’t do anything to him. You put up with all his bullshit for a long time and still cared for him as a friend. He was the one that was trying to make you miserable and you did nothing to deserve it,” Will told Logan.

“I know, Will, and I don’t have any reason to feel guilty about any of what happened. He was the frustrated closet case. Had he been somewhat sympathetic to what happened to me when I was raped we might have formed a relationship over time, but he couldn’t be honest with me or himself. I knew he was gay. I guess we all have that gaydar of some sort. I’m sure you guys picked it up that I was,” Logan replied. Will and I chuckled.

“Well, we spent a good deal of time wondering, but the truth of the matter was, we didn’t care if you were or not, Logan. We liked you anyway, and your privacy was your privacy not to be disturbed by any of us unless you wanted it to,” I told him.

“Thanks, Josh. You’ve put up with a lot from me, I know. I couldn’t sleep in the same bedroom with Clark that time in Key West. Another guy sleeping that close to me was either going to arouse me or traumatize me thinking about what happened when I was raped. I have a lot of demons to conquer, but you guys have really helped me a great deal already. I just have my Bernard demon to conquer,” Logan replied.

“So why does he still hate you, because you wouldn’t sleep with him when he needs some male loving?” Will asked.

“He wants to punish me for not letting him have a sexual relationship with me. That way he gets to keep the promising rising executive image with the company by having a wife and a child now, but he’s not sexually satisfied because he doesn’t have me in his life. I’m not patting myself on the back that I’m some kind of sexual god for shit’s sake, but he wants what he wants. I had no idea that I bothered him as much as I did when we lived together. I really didn’t. On the last assignment we had together, the short one, I showed him my template for organizing all startups and how efficient it was. I told him I had used it on one that I soloed on, and it brought the project in ahead of time and below budget. He told me he didn’t think it’d work, but borrowed it to try for his next assignment. Instead, he took it to the board and showed it to them claiming complete development of the program, never mentioning that it came from me. That got him promoted over me. We had very sharp words after that. I told him this would come back to haunt him. He told me if I slept with him, he’d tell the board we cooped the program together and give me credit as well. I told him I never wanted to see him or talk to him again as he was a traitor if there ever was one and I was sorry I ever considered him a friend. So now, he wants to rid himself and our company of me as I’m a threat to him. He can’t just move on with his life, he has to punish me for not sleeping with him. This sucks, it really sucks,” Logan said, getting upset again. We both hugged him again.
 
Chapter 769 - G

“Hey, we both love you and want to see you come out way better on this thing than you imagined. So when is he coming on Monday?” I asked.

“He didn’t tell me. All he said was to be out of here today and vacate the apartment they’ve been paying for as the new guy is coming down with him on Monday. Humm, I wonder if the new guy is fucking him on the side or he’s fucking he new guy,” Logan commented. We all looked at one another. “Oh, and he said he wasn’t sure about Clark yet, but he wanted to meet with him and talk to him on Monday. Maybe he thinks he can get Clark to have sex with him as he knows Clark is gay. He probably thinks Clark and I are having sex together, which is the furthest thing from the truth, and I know you both know that,” Logan replied. We assured him we knew he and Clark were not having sex together.

“Logan, is it possible for you to still love someone romantically even with the horrible start you had with your sexual life at the gay bar?” Will asked him. Tears flowed from Logan.

“Yes, I know it is. I’m suppressed feelings of love I’ve had, Will, trying to maintain a professional relationship with my clients at all times. I’ve tried to put my personal feelings aside in everything I do. Sometimes that hurts, but look at me, I’m the world’s best at persevering. Yes, I do have emotional feelings of love that I haven’t shared with anyone,” Logan replied.

“Could you possibly tell us in all confidence if there is someone in our group that you’ve had feelings for? Both of us promise not to disclose that with anyone, but may encourage your possible relationship so you can be happy. We promise we will not embarrass you at all,” Will asked. Logan looked embarrassed.

“What if this person I care about and think I could honestly love doesn’t feel the same way about me? Then I have a problem of being embarrassed,” Logan asked.

“Oh go ahead and tell us you’re in love with me, Logan. Then you’ll only have Jake to deal with and maybe a small spat with Will also,” I chided. Will, Logan and I laughed.

“I do love you, Josh, for all the great things you’ve done for me and the kindness in your heart for me, Clark and all your friends you painstakingly watch over, promote and love with all your heart. I have to admire and love you for that, but just not in a romantic way,” Logan replied.

“Well, who then?” I asked. He looked to Will. I sighed. “No shit. I knew it, I just knew it,” I said, all excited. Will was almost speechless.

“I promise if you want a strictly professional relationship, Will, I will never speak of this again. I swear, I will not be a Bernard by any stretch of the imagination,” Logan said, trying to hold back the tears. Will grabbed him and hugged him tightly.

“Oh, I’m so relieved as I feel the same way about you, Logan. Thank God this all worked out. I promise no pressure whatsoever in the building of this relationship, but we at least have to kiss one another,” Will said then kissed Logan who wanted to melt in his arms. “Oh, Josh knows how I’ve dreamed about loving you, Logan. I think we need to move you in here tonight, by the way. I’ve waited way too long for you,” Will chided. “Just kidding. Tomorrow will be soon enough,” he added jokingly, then kissed Logan again.

“I think you two need to get a room, is what I think,” I chided, but they were too busy kissing to pay any attention to my smartass remarks.
 
What an excellent chapter! I always enjoy the ones that feature business, and this one included management of the brewery and the bar, and a potential expansion into property management. Nate and Jordan did some speedy research, and got rewarded for it (albeit hurriedly)!

Logan's story was really touching and emotional. He poured it all out to Josh and Will, and he must feel a whole lot of relief to get all that out in the open, after years of bottling it up. And then he and Will expressed their feelings for each other, which was such a sweet moment.

And Logan hasn't even heard about Josh's plan yet to cancel the contract and put him and Clark on the payroll. He'll be over the moon! Cancelling the contract should be relatively straightforward legally, given that Bernard has fired Logan. Bernard is gonna be so pissed off. I can't wait for that scene!
