Chapter 828 - B
“Wow!” Dale and Cam said, shocked at seeing one hell of a skinny dude with a large pouch between his legs in the form of a thong. I asked them if they thought this was most people’s definition of underwear which I told him he could wear. “I guess it’s better than nothing at all, but you can just about see everything there, Lat,” Dale replied. Lat just smiled and sat down, then asked where the beer was. Dale got up to go grab some beers. I told Dale to tell Sven to bring us some hamburgers and fries also.
“So where are your lover boys tonight? Are they fucking without you?” Lat asked, somewhat pissing me off. I told him they were out shopping together for things Jasper was going to need for the apartment, like a shower curtain and some towels, food for the kitchen and beer. He smiled. “Aren’t you worried they might fuck without you?” he asked.
“Now you’re being obnoxious again. For your information, I deliberately left them alone to themselves tonight to get to know each other better and to form a bond of friendship. Jasper is going to need friends down here so he’s not lonely. I’m hoping the boys will bond with their shopping and putting the apartment together efforts. That’s the plan anyway,” I replied.
“Damn, you do care about them, don’t you?” he replied. I told him I definitely did. I cared about all my friends. “Wow, not used to having someone care shit about me and all your friends have at least you to care about them,” he commented, somewhat sadly, making me feel sad for him in a way, but I wasn’t sure what the hell his story was.
“Greer cares about you, doesn’t he?” I asked. Lat sighed.
“Maybe a little, but just enough to keep from firing me, I guess. If it was up to Samuel, I’d be a goner a long time ago. But Greer is all business. We never talk about relationships or even friendships. He’s a hard guy to get to know also. I try to tease him at times, but that mainly just irritates him instead of teases him like it should,” Lat replied.
“Well, you certainly have an edge to your teasing. Maybe he thinks you’re serious, Lat. Did you ever think about that?” I asked. Lat rolled his eyes.
“Oh, look at this beautiful naked vixen coming with the beer. Wag that willie and swing that ass, Dale. You go girl!” Lat yelled at Dale as he came with a pitcher of beer from the snack bar. Dale gave me a concerned look. I shrugged my shoulders and shook my head.
The hamburgers arrived shortly after the beer so we ate first before getting into the data Lat brought. Lat was a little more laid back conversing with the three of us during dinner. He dropped the sarcasm and was more normal, as much as he could be normal, which the level of normal could be debated. When we finished eating, I excused myself to go take a piss. When I returned Lat was standing near the boys totally naked, having dropped his thong.
“Wo, what happened here?” I asked, not wanting to see this again. Lat told me not to get my dick in a knot as the boys wanted to see what his big cock looked like. I had to admit to myself, it was damned impressive to see, but I didn’t need to see it anymore.
“Okay, now they’ve seen it, you’ve impressed them with your mighty prowess so cover it up and let’s get to work,” I told him. He took his time slipping on his thong again, almost playing with himself as he adjusted it over his large penis and low hangers.
“Hey, Josh, you have to admit, the dude is hung, no doubt about it,” Dale commented. I told him that was true, but we had work to do. I pointed to Lat’s chair motioning for him to sit. He did sit back down then scooted his chair over against mine. While I wasn’t really comfortable being this close to him, I sucked it up and sat down as he opened his laptop and I opened mine. I told him to make sure he kept his hands to himself. He just laughed, asking me if I was paranoid or what. I told him I was slightly paranoid being this close to him. He told me I was impossible. I told him just show me what he found out today so we could get this done. Dale and Cam said they were going to go check out some of the usual entertainment spots in the resort and maybe do some swimming or sit in the hot tub. I told them to have fun as Lat and I needed to work.
Lat and I worked on the spreadsheet putting in all the tax appraisal data he was able to obtain from the courthouse. I asked him how in the world he was able to get this since they said it would take two to three weeks after we requested it in writing. He looked at me and smiled. “Sometimes you just have to know how to work the system. I quoted them so many regulations and laws I made their heads spin asking them if they wanted a lawsuit for non-compliance with their own laws as damages would occur if I didn’t get this information this afternoon. They finally threw up their arms and gave it to me just to get rid of me. That’s how you get things done when you need them the most,” he replied proudly. I shook my head.
“I’ll give you one thing, you are damned resourceful. I’m sure that comes in handy in Greer’s law practice,” I replied. He actually smiled at me.
“You say the sweetest things sometimes, Josh. Did you know your eyes are beautiful when you say things like that? The more time I spend with you, the more I see of the magic others see in you. Makes my heart throb,” he said. I told him I thought he was trying to pull my dick now. That seemed to make him upset. “Even when I compliment you saying nice things you give me hell. How are we supposed to develop a trusting friendship if we can’t trust what each other say to one another?” he asked, confusing me all the more.
“I don’t know when you’re serious or when you’re being facetious, Lat. If what you said 90% of the time wasn’t being facetious then I might have more trust in what you’re saying, but it isn’t. I guess we just don’t understand one another, which means it will take a long time to be able to trust one another if ever,” I told him. Now he seemed hurt. He grunted, then said we needed to finish this up, leading me to believe he’d probably had enough of this tonight and wanted to get home. I was all for that myself.
We worked another half-hour with no conversation other than factual business, then he said he thought we had what we needed as far as my part was concerned. Then he looked me in the eyes and asked, “Josh, can we be serious for a minute?” His hairy leg was rubbing up against mine so I wasn’t sure what he had in mind.
“I’m not sure you can be serious, Lat, but go ahead and give it a shot. I’m listening,” I replied.
“I want to be a team player and be respected as a member of the team, a valued member, not a joke or smartass that’s just on the team because I’m smart. I, like all your other guys, want to be valued like they are. Greer says I’m socially awkward and don’t fit in with most people. He tells me it’s probably because I’m too smart and am way ahead of everyone on what needs to be done or the thought patterns they’re discussing, and I’m just impatient wanting to get to the point. I’ve asked him to help me with this. He says he will, but then he’s busy, and I’m busy, then we don’t talk enough between us, so I haven’t learned much in how to be less socially awkward and more socially acceptable. Plus, I’m gay which is almost an immediate strike against me in a lot of social circles. You wouldn’t think so here in Key West, but there are a lot of closet cases here. I can spot them a mile away and if I act like I know they’re really gay and who’s kidding who, well that pisses them off. It’s like I can’t help it. It is what it is, and sometimes, I should hold my tongue, but at times I can’t help it and my sarcasm just comes out. I don’t have a filter I guess is what I’m trying to say. Could you help me try to build a filter so I can make friends and get along socially in the right places and not be so awkward and loathed?” Lat asked me. Wow, I thought to myself. I had to agree he did a great job of self-analysis. He was spot on with his social awkwardness.
“One of the hardest problems in solving a problem is to properly and correctly identify the problem, Lat. You’ve at least identified the problem. You are most definitely socially awkward, yet you are brilliant in other respects which gets you by making a living, but leaves you lonely and feeling socially isolated. I find that listening to others and trying to empathize with them as much as possible, then a general understanding conversation sometimes persuasive is a good way to get people to listen to you without out right telling them they’re stupid and ignorant. Be considerate of others as much as you can, but don’t give up your values. You are thoughtful, because I’ve witnessed it, like what you did for Jasper in cleaning his apartment so he could have it today. That was extremely considerate of you. You do have a heart, Lat, but some of the things you do and say would make others think otherwise. I’m not sure why you hide it,” I told him.
“That’s what I’m trying to get at, Josh. I don’t know why I say some of the things I say. It just comes out,” he replied. I asked him if he regretted it after he said it. “Most of the time I don’t unless someone like you points that out, that’s just it. I feel like my reply is totally justified, but other’s don’t like it,” he replied. That concerned me.
