The Da Vinci Code

A painting of the Madonna and Child by Raphael is found to contain cryptic messages which prove that Hitler was a direct descendant of Moses, and that his son, by Eve Braun, named Elvis Aaron, was found in a basket by an American GI called Presley, who smuggled him to Tupelo, Mississippi. Elvis grew up to become a famous gay C&W singer, but suspicious minds have always maintained he had a daughter named after the famous painting.

Dan Brown's novels really do seem like highly thoughtout conspiracy stories that connect the most awkward events and people...but that's the sort of thing I would do with my friends when I'm bored with some existing novel...or in my case a play...like the time in English when me and a friend (bored in English class) came up with a whole sequel to Hamlet, very cleverly connecting characters that had nothing to do with each other in the original...but that was just joking around...and it didn't take that long to come up with.

I didn't like it. I lost interest about half way through and didn't finish. This is bad for a "thriller". I don't think it was well written or well constructed and the characters lacked interest. Only the subject matter was sensational.

There was a thread on the same subject a while ago and that is esentually what I said at the time.

I think it is a really bad book and that is putting it kindly.

It is rumoured there are plans for a musical based on the DVC.

Elton John has been approached, cautiously, but is reluctant, as the story involves Jesus and other famous people. Mick Jagger is said to be unhappy with the musical's title "Roll Away The Stone". Madonna is keen to play the role of Mary like a virgin, but says she needs acting lessons.

It looks increasingly likely that Mel Brooks, Woody Allen and Steven Spielberg will join forces to produce the musical.

The provisional title is "Fiddler of the Truth". :D

i really liked the book....it just sucked me in and i could not let go of it.... i have also read the book Angles & Demons, but the first book is a lot beter......i also liked that both books criticise the Church as an organization....

Techically, A&D is the first book.

It's just that nobody read it until DVC became successful.

So your statement about "the first book was better" is a bit ambiguous.

Personally, I didn't think either of them were that good. But at least A&D doesn't perpetuate a major fraud.
