Yeah, but as I post links to obituaries or whatever, I don't feel the need to include write ups in my posts.
Doesn't change that the significance of the people usually posted is not greater than any other random death without a name and a tag of assummed relevance and consequence.
In your opinion. If you'd rather see the obituaries of famous Spaniards, post away. I suspect they're about as numerous as famous Belgians (Hercule Poirot and Tintin for information).
At least tell us something about him. An anonymous 74-year-old dying with Covid isn't saying very much unfortunately.

I actually enjoy learning about the lesser known figures from anywhere....I wish more people would post about figures from their own countries. I always figure that the Candians will be unknown by most soI usually don't bother.
George Blake. 98 years old. In Russia.
Praised by Putin.
Thanks Rareboy.
Yup. I posted the BBC report on the previous page.
Says it all really.
He used to have this really cool used record show on 8 Mile Road in Detroit when I first discovered him in 1970. I had no idea what I was walking into. Records were a dime each! He had a sandwich board in front of his store advertising that he would buy any quantity of records for two cents each. My first time in there I think that I bought something like 350 records. A little later I found out that he had "RARE STUFF" in his back room, and he wanted, get this, a whole *BUCK* each for those! Oh, if I had known what I was doing even in that front room, and known what to buy, and just box up and open as a time capsule in 2010. I'd be a millionaire! I remember seeing HANDFULS of records that now go for hundreds of dollars. I bought from him as recently as 2013 or 2014 when he was selling out of his house just across 8 Mile in Oakland County. I think he closed his store around 2011 or 2012, and that had also hopped across 8 Mile in the meantime. I think I last saw him in 2016.
peeonme probably remembers seeing his record store. Anybody else? purina? Who else here is from Detroit (or the suburbs)?
We actually played around a little, maybe three times, I'd say around 1976 or 1980 or so. But, in general, he was fun to hang with anyway and he was a blabbermouth-of-the-good-kind. Definitely an all-out hillbilly which was actually rather cool - his parents came up from Kentucky during the war to work in the bomber plant at Willow Run [Ypsilanti].
We all missed. Nobody really had a clue back then. He was actually the one who missed the biggest opportunity because ALL of the records were in his possession...He sounds like an interesting guy. These days everyone seems to realise that vinyl singles and albums can be worth a fortune. I guess you missed a golden opportunity.
Yep, that's him. I'm actually surprised you saw my post. Cool!thought it might be Bob Mays across from The Booby Trap.
