Finally, someone important dying after weeks of drought...

Like praying for rain, eh?

How important can they be to you if you want them to die?
I do not want them to die, I want them to be remembered and extolled for 'greatness' or true "relevance", not for merely existing and falling close to some Angloradar, or bringing back doddering memories.

Like praying for rain, eh?
No, just watching this silly garden dry every day: there are hardly a handful of truly relevant people passing away every year, yet they keep a thread opne the whole year to be filled with obscure irrelevant individuals hardly known and remembered beyond their "family & friends"... whenever they have them, and do not have to be substituted by mere even more obscure and irrelevant fanpeople.

I want them to be remembered and extolled for 'greatness' or true "relevance", not for merely existing

For them no more the blazing hearth shall burn,
Or busy housewife ply her evening care:
No children run to lisp their sire's return,
Or climb his knees the envied kiss to share.

Oft did the harvest to their sickle yield,
Their furrow oft the stubborn glebe has broke;
How jocund did they drive their team afield!
How bow'd the woods beneath their sturdy stroke!

Let not Ambition mock their useful toil,
Their homely joys, and destiny obscure;
Nor Grandeur hear with a disdainful smile
The short and simple annals of the poor.

The boast of heraldry, the pomp of pow'r,
And all that beauty, all that wealth e'er gave,
Awaits alike th' inevitable hour.
The paths of glory lead but to the grave.

Thomas Gray, Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard

Hawaii-born Akebono Taro,
one of the greats of sumo wrestling and a former grand champion, has died.
He was 54. He was the first foreign-born wrestler to reach the level of “yokozuna” — or grand champion — in Japan.

“It is with sadness that we announce Akebono Taro died of heart failure earlier this month while receiving care at a hospital in the Tokyo area,”
the family said in a statement.

You mean you present a medium-length list of old and rotten people, and you boast the couple of hits at the end of the year: what we all would be supposed to do in this thread :mrgreen:

I also put in a few people that are mostly random just because I don’t really like them too much

Naturally... again, the usual course of the thread.

I randomly add them because they are just too close to hitting Guiness records of old age, like Franklin Bershir Zimmerman.
