The expanding Israel-Hamas war

So the operation is almost complete. The permanent partition of Gaz and the strangulation of Hamas in the north by choking them out. This is one for the military history books as finally the Palestinians are annihilated by the Israelites in a 4000 year old war along the coast. The south is already a genocidal refugee camp. The north will become a destitute ghetto for all the Palestinians that can't get out.

In 2023, we are watching one of the last (?) acts played out. At least the ones based on the imperatives of the Abrahamic books.

The tragedy is that except for funneling help to organizations like World Kitchen...there is nothing we can do and this now also unsettles my sleep.

According to spokesperson of the Israeli Defense Force (IDF), Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, the encirclement of Gaza City is complete.

This means the IDF have reached the coast.

IDF is also moving along the coast and already entered parts of Beit Hanoun in the Northeast.

Basically, they will turn Gaza City into a cauldron.

Will Palestinians ever comprehend that they are getting played by Tehran, Ruzzzia, China and others?

Erdogan said he was severing contacts with Bibi Netanyahu.

That should be helpful.

One of the Hamas leaders was asked why they hadn't made any provision for bomb shelters for the civilians in Gaza and instead put all their efforts and resources into building tunnels for Hamas troops.

His reply was that it is the job of the United Nations to provide the shelters for civilians.

Anyone thinking that Hamas is interested in the civilians in Gaza probably needs to think about this.

To Hamas, all the women and children and elderly are worthy sacrifices.

And will they ever ask themselves the hard question as to why none of their Arab brethren ever are willing to take them in. The Armenians are willing to welcome their brethren back as they leave Azerbaijan and Ukrainians found refuge in surrounding countries when they needed it but nothing for the Palestinians. I friend of mine was born in Egypt but is of lebanese decent and his answer is that the Palestinians are trouble whatever that means, they do produce God awful leaders.

The map shows that in the last 2 days, IDF have almost completely taken control of the coast, shutting off any possibility of escape by Hamas in this direction. IDF is again allowing people to leave Gaza city to move south of the zone to escape being used as human shields by Hamas.

Al Qassam is seeing the writing on the wall and indicate they are prepared to release the civilians they kidnapped but say that field conditions are preventing them from doing this.

Meanwhile, all bakeries have ceased operations because of lack of flour and fuel.

The Al Shati refugee camp area will be one of the worst places to take and control because of the density and ability for Hamas to fire upon IDF...they already are announcing when they destroy tanks and armoured carriers. And because of the civilian population trapped here...it will be impossible to bomb without hundreds or thousands of civilian deaths.

I should correct my statement above...it is only foreign detainees they are prepared to release, which likely does not include Israelis.

Just a reminder why we are where we are today.

The relentless extermination of Arab Palestine since the end of the second world war.

There will never be an end to this until someone is willing to put down the sword. Violence is exactly the point of barbarity, and accommodating it just helps build more terrorists.

Israel will not end Hamas, Israel is their most potent recruiter. I hear Israelis say that they have a right to defend themselves as if anyone ever said otherwise, but Hamas does not have the power to end Israel. None of them do - so this argument about self-defense looks like hypocrisy. The same hypocrisy that stampeded us into a violent war in Iraq over a blatant lie.

Slaughtering kids in Gaza does not defend Israel, it guarantees more barbarity, for a lifetime to come.

If Israel wants to inhabit the moral high ground, Israel needs to remember that.

"As of November 8, CPJ’s preliminary investigations showed at least 39 journalists and media workers were among the more than 11,000 killed since the war began on October 7—with over 10,000 Palestinian deaths in Gaza and the West Bank and 1,400 deaths in Israel."

Both Hamas and Israel have committed war crimes in the past month, the United Nations human rights chief said, as thousands of Palestinians fled south amid Israel’s intensifying offensive against the Islamist militant group...

OF course, so what? There's nothing the UN can do.

Pretty much this.

The UN looks more and more useless every month that passes and war that flares. I suppose it has always been this way. War criminals are never prosecuted as the super-powers just exempt themselves for the rules and the Security Council is corrupted and moribund.

At one time, the UN even had some clout as a peacekeeping force...but that was squandered along the way as well.

It appears that Israel forces will compartmentalize and isolate the Ash Shati refugee camp from the rest of Gaza City. IDF are also taking over the areas where hospitals are located to prevent them from being used by Hamas.

Israeli army says overnight ground forces killed a number of members of Hamas's elite Nukhba forces, who participated in the October 7 massacre. Among them was Ahmed Musa, a Nukhba company commander, and Amr Alhandi, a platoon commander, who were holed up in Jabaliya.

The above from the map...

It is notable that the clashes are now fewer and fewer as UDF sweeps through and removes Hamas forces. They seem to be more and more, just attacks along a very narrow front.

Netenyahu has made it clear.

Israel will be in control of security in Gaza from hereon...not international forces.

There was no question that Gaza will be permanently occupied after this war. Israel will not allow Hamas to regain the kind of power and foothold they had up until last month.

Interesting that the leaders in the Arab world are scuttling all over the place pretending to meet to try to do something for the people of Gaza.

After pouring millions into arming and training Hamas and then seeing in one spectacular failed attempt...all their investment vanish.

Mark my words. Not one of these countries will volunteer to take in Palestinian refugees.

Netanyahus days are numbered. Whatever happens in Gaza after this is over won’t be his call.

Don't be so sure.

Israel is shocked into defensive mode by Hamas and Hezbollah as well as Yemeni and Syrian attacks.

This could galvanize support for Netanyahu and the right wingers determined to drive every Palestinian in Gaza out of the strip.

It was almost inevitable.

That RRzzia, China and Iran could have led the poor Palestinians into this trap is heartbreaking.

But at the end of the day, Hamas, Hezbollah and the rest are so wretched in their aims and execution...maybe the last fragments of Palestinians willing to try to survive under Israeli rule may finally be better off than being used as pawns decade after decade.

My heart breaks. And I am reminded why I hate this post WW2 world we live in.

They will be pawns and abused until they are driven out, then they will still be pawns and abused in the name of Palestine.

This is a proxy war, Israel for decades has been abusing Palestinians, and Iran has turned that into hate for Israel. They will continue on both courses because neither wants to stop.
