I lost a ton of weight by just eating healthy. I didn't drop 8 pounds in a day, but it came off pretty quickly (a few weeks).

I eat a lot of fruits and veggies (steamed or raw). I also eat all lean/fat free/sugar free foods. Grilled chicken breast, salmon, steaks, etc. are all the meats I eat. Fast food is out of the picture, as are sweets and soda.

I also run a good bit, mostly treadmill, but on the road if it's daylight.

I don't maintain this diet for weight loss (I've never been even close to being overweight), but for the health benefits. The fact that I feel great helps too. Like I already mentioned, it's not a drop it asap diet, but I did lose about 20 pounds in a little over a month.
 
Well since I've got a problem with not eating you shouldn't adopt my methods, so I'm not going to tell you the unhealthy things I do.
A few healthy things you could do:
-increase your metabolism rate by
°being cold: your metabolism speeds up 20% if you dress down a bit and open the window more often
°exercise: your metabolism speeds up during the exercise, a few hours after the exercise, and when you get more muscles your metabolism works faster when you even sit still.
°drink a cup of coffee (not too much though)
-Decrease your calorie intake.
Also realize the following: protein calories aren't as bad as sugar/carb or fat calories. Sugar/carb calories aren't as bad as fat calories. Fat calories are the worst sort of calories.

And there's the obvious stuff: when you eat make sure it's a larger percentage of fruit and vegetables than before. Eat less sweets. Drink coke light instead of regular etc.
 
might reconsider the "going to the beach" part... no such thing as fast weight loss method.. unless of your you're related to Star Jones...
 
Well, it can be argued that what I'm going to suggest is not that healthy...

It's worked for me, but it isn't for everyone.

A long water (or better yet, juice) fast. I prefer juice, and I mean the fresh kind you make yourself, you have it three/four times a day and all the water you want. No other food. It's hell only for the first two/three days, then you seem to lose your appetite and develop a lot of surprising energy. Four, five, six days may be enough for you--I went about three weeks once...

You'll lose the fat for sure, but the first few times I did this I came out of it with a huge appetite (surprise, surprise) and gained a lot of the weight back. However, I learned that if you eat really healthy food when you start eating again the weight can stay off.

P.S. If you were to seriously consider this route, please research it first to learn types of veg & fruit juice, amount of exercise to have during, what to expect, etc. etc..
 
What nineofclubs is suggesting could work. (now I'm not being healthy anymore, forgive me I couldn't help it) I don't suggest a juice fast though. Fruits contain a lot of monosaccharides, and for one glass of orange juice you need more than one orange. Result: per 100ml about 60-65 kcals (one glass has about 250-300ml!!!) I kill my appetite with chewing gum, drinking coffee, and drinking lots of water. Drink ice cold water: your body burns a lot of kcals by just trying to heat itself. Be sure you don't induce an eating disorder though. At first you still you're in control, at a moment you only think you're in control
 
There are a lot of fast and unhealthy ways to lose weight. But if you're wanting to be seen with your shirt off, you don't want to LOSE weight you want to lose water while you tone and bulk up your muscles.

If you try to do this solely with diet, you will lose water weight. Dieting without working out just makes your metabolism slow. Because your body thinks it has been going without calories, the minute you start eating, your body will start storing fat. You will put on the weight you lost plus some more.

The best way to loose weight is to work with a trainer. Find one that has a degree or is is certified. It costs a few dollars but a good trainer will push you to exercise and diet in a healthy way. You will be amazed how quick that you will see results. And you'll look a lot better at the beach with a body that look toned and healthy.
 
Drink at least 2 gallons of water a day, and if you have a treadmill, run on it a lot....try not to eat as much, dont eat before you go to bed, some diet pills wont hurt either....
 
What karabulut says is true. Don't forget to exercise a lot. Not eating slows your metabolism down big time. Train most of your muscles because otherwise your body could break down muscle tissue for its energy supply.
With just a regular diet your body will break down muscles as well as sugars proteins and fats for its energy. By doing exercises you make sure the muscles are somewhat spared from it
 
You haven't told us how badly overweight you are. I think the best you can hope for is to lose 3-4 lbs after a serious week of dieting and 2 lbs each week thereafter. Is that going to be enough? I'm guessing you only have a couple of weeks...

If it is, then you're not so badly out of shape to begin with and you should just take off the shirt and not be a wuss about it. So who cares if you're not perfect?

If you ned to lose more, then your crash diet probably won't be enough... again, don't be a wuss and just take that shirt off and enjoy the beach.

By all means, start an exercise and weight loss program, but don't link it with having fun at the beach. You can do that anytime, you just need to tune your attitude.
 
amphetimines are a quick way to lose weight.
 
@sb: amphetamines work fast indeed, but the doses that are really effective are on prescription. Also there are health risks linked to it. And you should take the right amphetamine (sibutramine) since other amphetamines have the problem of giving a rebound or withdrawal effect.
If you really are overweight you could go talk to your doctor and ask him if he wants to prescribe you sibutramine.
 
When I was either wrestling or rowing and had to cut weight, I was able to drop 10-15lbs a week by jogging 5miles a day and rowing for an hour on the rowing machine every day in addition to normal practices. For breakfast, I drank 4 egg whites with a multivitamin and another vitamin B pill. I skipped lunch. For dinner, I had an apple or an orange and a teaspoon of sesame oil.
 
hmmm.. lets see. If you like the "unhealthy" way...You can try by eating very less. Start counting your calories intake and try to eat as less as possible. Go something from 300 calories a day to 600 calories a day out of the 2000. If I were you, I'd probably starve more. Skip breakfast, eat very little at lunch, skip dinner and go to bed early. Drink lots of water, especially when you are eating, and after you are done eating. I mean, drink A LOT! water will make you feel fuller. When you're hungry again, snack on something little and gulp down even more water. 2 gallons a day is perfect, just don't be ridiculous by drinking the whole gallon each time. This method is call "almost" starvation.

The other is ofcourse training yourself to become bulemic. Yes, go ahead and eat, then as soon as you put down the plate, rush to the restroom and shove those fingers down your throat. You'll feel a lot better. Its a wonderful way to lose weight!

but..seriously and not sarcastically... why don't you start running a little everynight. Try and build up those leg muscles. Running is a great way to lose weight. Rope jumping is an even better! If you can do it as often as everyday... with the dedication ofcourse, you'll see result just like THAT.
 
Puke after every meal............................ JUST KIDDING. Try eating only fruits and veggies and exercise alot.
 
I agree with liposuction. Faster and less unhealthy than amphetamines. As stated, fast weight loss is never effective long term. But if you want to lose it fast... lipo will do the trick.
