The Frank Ocean thread

he's a part of odd future and his music sucks so fuck him. i could give a fuck less if he's bi, tri, gay, straight or whatever. doesn't change the matter that his novacane song sucks dick.

You are a very very angry man. Take a deep breath, have some cookies and be happy. =)

Oh and in case anyone cares, since this is about Frank Ocean, his album has been getting probably the best reviews of this year so far.

That is, of course, until Heidi Montag releases her second album that will rival "Thriller".

I think he is so, so cute. I've been gushing over him for the past two days now. I want him...badly. He seems like such a romantic. Congrats to this man and I wish him nothing but the best.

I think he is very talented.

Sad that it took his coming out for some of you to know who he is.

Here's a quote from Russell Simmons regarding Frank. :)

I am profoundly moved by the courage and honesty of Frank Ocean. Your decision to go public about your sexual orientation gives hope and light to so many young people still living in fear. These types of secrets should not matter anymore, but we know they do, and because of that I decided to write this short statement of support for one of the greatest new artists we have.

His gifts are undeniable. His talent, enormous. His bravery, incredible. His actions this morning will uplift our consciousness and allow us to become better people. Every single one of us is born with peace and tranquility in our heart. Frank just found his.

Frank, we thank you. We support you. We love you.

So somebody in the R&B/hip-hop world - somebody still vital, not huge, still "up-and-coming" - came out of the closet.

Ball's in your court, professional sports.

You know all that bitching you do about how homophobic all your friends and family members are? And how it's unfair that you can't just "be yourself" and not have it matter? Yeah, it takes guys like Frank here to help pave the way.

Yeah, he is a member of that Odd Future label, but he has yet to put out anything derogatory like that asshat Tyler the Creator. Actually, Frank's music is decent, not great, but decent, so bravo to him for telling his self-truth. Why can't you just be happy for the man? :##:

Breaking news!

Inspired by Frank Ocean's revelation, pop megastar Beyonce Knowles has come out of the closet as a robot. The starlet admits she is surprised people werent suspicious of her considering her inhuman beauty and ability to sing love songs without an iota of genuine human emotion. She says she was built by her father as a fail-proof get-rich scheme (pretty lightskinned girl with decent voice) and that coming out has been a huge megabyte off her harddrive. Her management says she will now be known to the world as Robo-yonce and will release her next album "Rx3000, Twenty Terrabytes of Love" in the year 2099.

^ I had my suspicions too, Karen, lightskinned and curvy red hair. A perfect Jessica Rabbitt Robot

Welcome to JUB!

And yes, I'm also hoping this is a positive step. I can't say as I know who he is (as I'm a rock fan) but I've been greatly cheered by the mainly positive response it has sparked. You'll have to forgive us for being snarky - this is sort of where we let our inner cynic free. :)

wow. this is ridiculous. i came on here to find out what the community thinks of an established artist coming out and come to see this shit.

you guys rather oogle over a straight celebrity, but won't even acknowledge your own because he's not hot or famous enough. as if you not knowing him means that he can't help the struggle

i, for one, am proud of him coming out. it's tough enough to do that with your family and friends, but to do it to an established fan base when you're about to reach the peak of your career is incredible. i hope his album does well so that more artist can feel comfortable doing the same.

I'm assuming you just glanced over all the posts in this thread stating that, while not knowing who he is, that we're happy to hear it, and even a few posts praising the mans' balls for doing so in a subculture that can be virulently homophobic and misogynistic in nature and design.

If you focus on the one person bitching just to bitch, whose fault is that really?

I must say that I was truly affected by his coming out. It was a powerful statement, especially to come out into the Hip-Hop culture. His letter about his first love was beautifully written. I am not out to everyone, but that letter and his story gave me the confidence and will power to do so. Ironically, I typically don't like male celebs, but Frank is now on my list of man-crushes lol.

As far as his music. He is a musical prodigy imo. Of course that is my opinion and my preference of music. While you have R&B singers and hip-hop artist who's musical sounds are either southern, gangsta or pop...Frank Ocean blends pop, alternative hip-hop, quiet storm R&B, rock and more thus creating feel good music. He typically talks about love, and life. He's a wonderful writer, and in some of his songs he writes hidden messages and etc.

You all may not know him because he's only completed a popular mixtape, however, in a few months...he will explode into the forefront of music. That I do believe.

I thought this was going to be about this guy:

Anyway, good on him. And he is fucking hot!

I heard about this Story over the weekend...Sometimes it's better to WAIT for confirmation instead of assuming a Celebrity is Coming out as Bisexual or Gay...

I remember Angelina Jolie saying she wanted to be with women after she got her first divorce then she saw Brad Pitt and didnt stop till she got him...

Anne Hache did the exact same thing....She decided she wanted to experiment with women..Made it public..Then she found a Dude and married him....

I think it was Gerard Butler that mentioned a while back during an interview that he fooled around with a guy(s) in his past but he only dates women today..He considers himself to be straight. He didnt come out as anything but simply told a truth about his past relationships...

In my opinion all Frank did was tell the TRUTH about a same-sex Love affair that happened in his past. Frank did what SOME Straight people will NEVER-EVER do and that's talk about feelings they had for the same sex...

You have to step back for a minute and really examine what Frank did...How are you gonna feel in a few weeks or months when Frank says that he's not Gay or bisexual and he's with a woman?

What he's done as a Hip-Hop Artist is a first....But all he did was say he was in love with a Man a long time ago....That doesnt mean he continued seeing Men after that one time experience...

Before anybody Fed-Ex's Frank a Rainbow T-Shirt let's wait and see if the Brotha confirms what we all wanna hear or if this TRUTH from his PAST fades away after his CD drops...

Ironically Franks new CD drops July 17th....Big SURPRISE on that one....

So you're expecting a lot of backpedaling? Or at least "clarification"? Because responses from even members of his own group seem to be pretty clear that this isn't something he's going to back away from. And if he meets a girl and starts dating her (or marries her), I don't see that contradicting the bisexual tag...
