The Goddess of Pop: The Official Kylie Minogue Thread

^ It's just odd is all. The US market is obviously THE market that any artist wants to break because the commercial viability is most prevalent there. You know the old saying "make it there and you can make it anywhere". Apparently not.

and CupidBoy, no disrespect but to say "we can only enjoy what we're exposed to" is not the modern day way of thinking of music. Thanks to the early days of Napster and all the uploaded music advances that came after it a revolution started. The consumer took control of what the RCAA and others "gave" to us. Now we have the power to choose. It' so irrelevant what we are subjected to by the way of "charts" etc today. Thanks to the internet we have the freedom to explore and pick and chose what our individual sound is and what (if ever) we'll support and buy. By the internet's very nature and to counter your argument we are "exposed" to everything. Marketing by a certain label is a bygone era. WE now dictate to THEM what works and what doesn't.

Well I choose to listen to her, don't care that she's not the it girl here. I mean she did have her moment, and people are fickle. Plus she's 45 now and people like what's new and young.

I'm having a great day, I'm just awake.

I can't figure out why she doesn't have success here either, all I can think is she has no exposure. I have always shared her with people though, and they do think she's cool when they see her. I even did my music final about her in college. Only one person in the entire class knew who she was, but the reaction was positive.

Oh great. Now I feel even more crappy for not being able to give you that black bag. Your "music final" in college. ummm, that just about tumps every devout story of a Kylie fan I've ever heard....and your still on the picket line (not that she needs it).

Cool. I do the same for Madonna.

Tell me something, Jason. If you could get something that represented something special to you directly from Kylie...what would it be?

ps - watch out what you wish for.

Yeah, I took a World Music class and the teacher was a cool hippie guy so for the final we had to give a presentation and write a 10 page essay on a topic relating to music from around the world and our own personal interests in relations with what we learned in class. So I talked about Kylie's career and evolution as an artist and her influence in music. I edited videos together to show her different styles throughout the years from the 80s until now. I got an A in that class, it was fun.

One thing... I've never thought about that. What I wish I could do is have a conversation with her, ask her about stuff, maybe get some advice and wisdom. Also I wish I could get a picture with her.

Well if I could get something, maybe a pair used undies from one of her sexy male dancers. :p

^ WOW! A 10 page essay on the evolution of Kylie's career. Listen up people's. That's called a hard-core fan...a knowledgeable hard-core fan.

I guess from now on if i have any questions about why, say, she decided to add 'Glad To Be Alive' to the Locomotion single release you might know?

I'm kidding. It was the first single record I ever bought. I was like, 12. I'll give you a pass and blame it on Stock, Aitken and Waterman.

Maybe she's not loved in America because her music is insipid.

"Insipid".

Let's go through all successful recording artists in history that have tracks that might fall under that banner?

buffxqi, give me two examples of songs from Kylie that you consider not insipid and then let's go from there. If, on the other hand, you don't like her music wholeheartedly just because you've always felt that way then what are you doing here?

"Ima gonna tell them Kylie fans that she's shit!".

Oh Fuck off.

Frankie Grande meets Kylie:

I've never seen this before, so cute

Even her record company knows her worth has greatly diminished that they've lowered her upcoming reissues significantly.
