All autograph requests sent to her managers (the address that used to be on this page) will be returned, as will requests sent to her home address, as she has recently sold her house and moved into a condo. As you may already know, Estelle is suffering from a disease similar to Parkinson's. She is receiving treatment, but the illness is progressing greatly, and she continues to struggle. Let's hope the best for her!**

I never could get into that show. A friend of mine was in forestry school, and apparently all these big lumberjack wannabe's would sit around afternoons watching Golden Girls. The incongruity of that just makes my head ache.

Long live the Golden Girls! I was too young to see it in the 80's, it does'nt seem dated at all, just phucking funny! I HAD to go out and buy the entire series on dvd, despite the fact i have every episode on VHS. So yeah, i'm a big homo.
My favorite episodes? Pretty much all of them are classic. The sperm bank episode had me in tears, i could'nt believe they got away with it on NBC in the 80's! Another great one was where Rose and Blanche were both trying to get to be a judge for a fashion show, and Dorothy walks in trying out a new outfit, and they both critique her looks in the most brutal (but hysterical) way.
How about the episode where Blanche and Sophia date the same guy!

Blanche: I have nothing to wear! What does one wear to a sperm bank anyhow?
Dorothy: Something attractive in rubber.

Well I wouldn't attribute my Saturday nights obsession to "The Golden Girls" to "no life." Heck, I was only 14 when the show began in 1985.

But I love the fact that I became a fan of it from first-run and not it's 2000's Lifetime Channel run.

So many episodes and little moments are forever etched in my subconscious now.

The episode that just seems so "Golden Girls-ish" is the one where Rose's blind sister (as played by Polly Holiday is visiting) and all the girls are sitting around the table and Sophia is complaing how bad their TV reception is and that for awhile there she thought Miss Ellie was having an affair with Benson.

The joke was completely dated. You had to have known what was on the TV lineup in 1985 to get it but if you did, boy was that a freakin' laugh your ass off moment. And still is!

A close second is the show where the African-American maid is presumed to have mystical powers and the girls later laud her with several gifts including a tiara. Sophia enters the room during the "coronation" ceremony and spits out, "What is this? The Miss Black America pageant?!!" Another side-splitter.

*** KEVIN IN SOUTH TULSA ***

Below: Another dog-gone funny one!

I absolutely love The Golden Girls. I'm British, but it was also shown on our TV in the 80s. Recently I bought the first 3 seasons on DVD (that is all that is available in the UK), but I'm gonna buy the other 4 seasons from amazon.com as a Xmas present to myself :D I watch the DVDs very often, and they always make me laugh, even though I've seen every episode from the first 3 seasons about 4 times lol. I'm excited about getting the other seasons cos they will be totally new to me (i saw them in the 80s but I was very young when I watched them and can't remember them).

So my favourite episode so far is the one where they are having the garage conversion, and Sophia finds the elderly Italian guy and she has to interpret for him.

Lines like:
"Dorothy you do the hammering, Rose do the sweeping and Blanche do the screwing - I swear to God he came up with that one all by himself!" - Sophia

"I am the architect, I am the builder, I am the Walrus" - Sophia

My quotes aren't exact, but the funny parts are, so you get the idea ..|

I LOVE the Golden girls!(!):=D::=D::=D: I can't pick just one because they're all great.I loved Maude and Mary Tyler Moore and to see all the actresses together from both shows was amazing.Bea Arthur was my all time favorite. She could give one look and it said a million things.A trully great actress. There will never be another Golden girls. You just can't replace perfection...|..|..|

I agree with all the fans. It was a great ensemble cast and had terrific writers.
It also hit on socially relevant issues like ageism, menopause, racism, HIV, chronic fatigue syndrome and many others.
Besides the sides splitting humor, the show will always be in my heart because my Mom was in the same age group as the main characters and was suffering from a colostomy, bone cancer and a double radical masectomy and the Golden Girls was the only thing that made her laugh her wonderful laugh.

I loved (and still love) the Golden Girls. I remember my mother used to watch it when it was still a new show, and I started watching it when they put it on Lifetime. The characters were all so awesome, and other have noted, the show also dealt with real issues. Golden Girls and Designing Women (another great show that didn't shy away from issues like racism, sexism, etc.) are two of my favorite shows ever.

I love The Golden Girls. Its one of the few shows where I can watch reruns over and over again, and never get tired of them. Its impossible to pick a favorite episode, because nearly all of them are excellent.

I loved when lifetime was all about Golden Girls, Nanny, and Unsolved Mysteries.

I love Will & Grace too. <3

i love them, my favorite is sophia, l love it when she said picture it, sicitly .., i laugh my ass off

i LOVE the golden girls....i have seen the series ever since it first aired on Lifetime...and every single episode is still as funny....its hard to pick a favorite episode....but i guess it would have to be when they do that murder mystery weekend...

Oh, Lesee...

The episode where Dorothy and Stan are going to get married again,
and Rose buys the 'barking dogs alarm' and every time the doorbell is rung.... Well, you know... TOO funny.

The one where the girls are flying down to somewhere for Rose's cousin's
funeral, and Dorothy is terrified, and Blanche has a dream about a room full of bald men that comes true...

Dialogue from the plane:

Rose: "She was always a very rigid person."
Dorothy: "Especially now..."

Elderly flight attendant: "If anyone sees a large metal bolt, could you please return it to the front of the cabin ? It fell off the...beverage cart.
Yes, that's it...the beverage cart...." :=D:

I loved the golden girls too. I was there on Saturday nights at 9:00pm on NBC.

Too many episodes that i love to have to pick just one! :)

I own season one and am currently waiting for the rest of the seasons to come down in price or find them used! :)

I LOVE the Golden Girls I have all the seasons on DVD and when ever am feeling down I just love to watch it and it picks me right up I can't pick a favorite episode I love them all it's truly a show I will cherish for along as I live

CONDOMS, ROSE!

.

Sales clerk:

whoa, calm down lady, did you just get out of prison?

:rotflmao::rotflmao:

That had me on the floor laughing with my mom when we watched it for the first time back in the 80's! Ah the memories!

God! Did Dorthy have the best lines in this series or what! :)

Best Sophia line- 'sticks and stones may break my bones, but cement pays homage to tradition.'

:rotflmao::rotflmao:

Dorothy: Merry Christmas, Rose. Merry Christmas, Blanche.
Rose: Merry Christmas Dorothy, Merry Christmas Blanche.
Blanche: Merry Christmas Rose--
Sophia: What the hell is this, The Waltons?

Sophia: ...You're nothing but a back-stabbing Judas in sensible shoes!
Angela: Oh, yeah? Well, you're a two-lire tramp with cheap bridgework!
Sophia: May you put your dentures in upside down and chew your head off!
Angela: May your legs grow old and gnarled and withered like an olive branch... [looking at Sophia's legs] you should be so lucky.
Sophia: May your moles grow hair thicker than Jerry Vale's!
Angela: May your marinara sauce never cling to your pasta!
Sophia: Oooooh, that does it! Come back here and say that to my face!

Blanche: I am abhorred!
Sophia: We know what you are Blanche. It's good to hear you finally admit it.
Blanche: I said I am abhorred.
Sophia: A whore, a slut, a tramp, it's all the same.

Dorothy: [pretending to be God] Rose, thanks for the lovely prayer. Now shut up and get into bed.
Rose: Amen! [gets into bed]
Blanche: Nice work, Dorothy.
Dorothy: Wasn't me.
Blanche: [starts to look worried] Sweet Jesus, am I in trouble!

Blanche: I will not have that filthy beast in my house! It belongs in a barnyard!
Rose: This is not a farm chicken. Count Bessie is a showbiz chicken! Wait'll you see this! [exits]
Blanche: [to Dorothy] A showbiz chicken. What she do, play the piano?
Rose: [re-enters with a mini-piano] She plays the piano!

Dorothy: Floozy.
Blanche: Tramp.
Dorothy: I, I am a tramp? Blanche, have you heard the latest ad campaigns? "Join the Navy, see the world, sleep with Blanche Devereaux!" "Join the Army, be all you can be and sleep with Blanche Devereaux!" "The Marines are looking for a few good men who have not slept with Blanche Devereaux!"

Dorothy: Oh, it doesn’t matter what your parents want, Rose, you’re never going to make them happy. They’re just going to nag you and nag you until you want to grab their throats and choke them, but you don’t because you’re in a hospital with resuscitation equipment!!!

Blanche: I don't really mind Clayton being homosexual, I just don't like him dating men.
Dorothy: You really haven't grasped the concept of this gay thing yet, have you?
Blanche: There must be homosexuals who date women.
Sophia: Yeah, they're called lesbians.

Clayton: I wanted you to meet Doug for a very important reason.
Blanche: Well, why?
Clayton: Blanche, we're getting married.
Rose: Well that's impossible Clayton. Brothers can't marry sisters. [thinks for a moment] Oh, that's right, you're from the South.

Blanche: [on learning that Rose had 56 boyfriends during her senior year of high school] If that were true, Rose, then that would mean you were... a slut.
Dorothy: Oh, come on, Blanche, how can you say that? So the woman had fifty-six boyfriends in one year. She's not a slut.
Rose: Thank you, Dorothy.
Dorothy: She is The Slut! She's the Grand Poobah of Slutdom! She is the easiest woman in this room!
Blanche: Why, Dorothy Zbornak, you take that back!
Dorothy: [indicating Blanche and then Rose] The Slut is dead, long live The Slut!

Ahhh a great show. There will never be another one like it!
