Yes I play some top games, and yes I want an open system. And yes upgradeability is very important. And that makes Apple the worst choice of them all. My desktop isn't made by any company. I bought all the components myself.

In essence, I need something more instead of something that looks like a toy and has few useful programs.

What put you off of the MacBook line? Was is the smooth, sleek aluminum unibody construction? I don't know what it could possibly be. I've never seen anyone look at an MacBook and say that it didn't look nice. To be it has an elegance that can't be replicated by anyone else. I mean, there is a reason why Macs are in design museums.

I've owned 5 PC's in my life before I switched to Macs. I've have Gateways, Compaqs, and an HP. It depends on what you mean by maintain. Do you mean maintaining the operating system and making sure it works properly? Do you mean servicing the hardware? If you mean the hardware, then yes, PC's are easier to maintain. Apple likes making thin and small at the expense of being able to get inside them.

You can get mom and pop stores to fix PC's, but doing so will often void the warranty. That's not something I'd be willing to do until the warranty runs out.

I can assure you that I am not an Apple PR person. I am an 18 year old, Freshmen in college. I doubt Apple would hire me.

Fine, I'll respond to the rest of your post. Can you come up with any examples of why you need a PC over a Mac? You didn't add any new examples. You just regurgitated the ones I posted.

And I just want to know why you don't like the MacBooks. You keep saying that the looks aren't to your taste, but you fail to say what puts you off of them. There has to be specific reasons. When it comes down to it, you are trying to force your Anti Apple views on people. I am jsut trying to get you to provide facts and examples that I don't feel like I am getting.

Anything else you want me to respond too? I will be happy too. I have no reason to ignore anything you post.
 
And yes, a lot of Apple products have won design awards. The Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg, Germany is currently running an exhibit focused on design. Over half of the 300 pieces on display are Apple products. I am not trying to force my opinion of design on you. I am just trying to get you to stop discrediting Apple products; their design and there apparently "inferior" hardware. Also, may I remind you that YOU ignored me when I asked you to provide examples of how they have inferior hardware?
 
You said that I had clearly never owned a PC in my life. I was posting that to tell you that I had. I would love to work at the Apple Store. Not just because of all the Apple products, but because they pay for your college tuition if you are in college while you work there. Apple gives you good bang for your buck. You just don't think so. Mac OS X is more than worth it's cost. It doesn't work for you. I get it.

And by the way...you just used profanity. You shouldn't use profanity because it doesn't help your argument and makes you look like an uncivilized person with an attitude problem. Sound familiar? And you are threatened just as much as any of us. If you didn't feel threatened you would have stopped posting in this thread a page and a half ago.
 
Well, you said you could deduce that I had clearly never owned a PC. What am I supposed to do? Ignore that? Didn't you tell me not to ignore things you said just a few posts above?

How is you talking about your f-ing reasons any different that me talking about my "pile of shit PC's"? Neither is about a person. One use of our profanity about an abstract thought, another is about a concrete object.
 
You twisted around what I said too. What I meant was not telling you to shut up. I meant that I was trying to persuade you into thinking differently.

Just because I don't respond to something doesn't mean I am ignoring what you say. It just means that I don't anything to mention about what you said. I don't have to reply to every little thing you said do I?

I used to be into forums for awhile, but I am not anymore because things like this happen. Every time I post on any forum it seems to turn into a giant brain-draining debate. I will probably end up leaving after this thread dies.
 
Macs are immune to viruses, not to malware. But even with malware, you have to install it. And before you install it, you have to give your admin password out.

Still, I'd rather take my chances with a few viruses on Apple compared to millions on PC.
 
I mean theoretically, if there were a few viruses on Mac, I'd still rather take my chances. My mistake.

I've had AVG, Norton, McAfee and I still got viruses. Different things happen to different people.
 
And, for what it's worth Apple might recommend it, but it would probably be just to save their butts. If a virus comes out, and infects people, then can claim that it isn't their faults and that they recommended anti virus.

In practice, Apple doesn't really seem to fond of anti-virus. The Macs at their stores don't have any anti-virus, and on their website they make no recommendation.

I haven't used AVG in over 2 years because I haven't been using a PC during that time. The last time I used AVG would have been before that, and I can't use it now as it isn't available on Mac.
 
GiancarloC, just from an observer standpoint. even though you are not threatened, some of your responses tend to indicate you are.
 
I'm simply speaking about the "tone/genre" of your responses. I'm not saying I'm right, just saying that "I" got that impression.
 
I am sure he feels threatened, just like I do a little bit. If he didn't feel threatened, he wouldn't still be here on page 4 of this thread. When we feel threatened, we defend our viewpoints when it doesn't really matter. And that is happening here.

And you can't tell someone they are getting the wrong impression...an impression is an impression. They aren't right or wrong...they just are.

If multiple people are getting the same impression about you, wouldn't that make it a correct impression? Just a tip, other people see us more clearly than we see ourselves. I know very few people who have an accurate representation of themselves. Our minds distort things.
 
I am not disputing that. All this is about is an impression; a single impression you made on this thread. You don't need to know everything about a person to talk about that. I am not trying to figure you out as a person, and I would never want to do that.
 
GiancarloC, I'm old school receiver, but I know quite a bit about audio. I loaded my van with the old bose 5" speakers from their 800's series pro speakers. knocked us all back on our seats, and was clear as a bell. But, It was an impedance nightmare. I think a lot of carudiophiles over do it on the sub-woofer spectrum.

You may be able to find a used kenwood or even pioneer receiver at a pawn shop. those things had great amps in them, and some even had a parametric EQ.
