Oh lord...I ended up getting into a back-and-forth with one of those uber-bigots who say gays eat-the-poo-poo type of guys online last night. I just can't. You guys know there's no chance of making those types "get it".

give me strength.

You know, as much foolishness and hatred I am used to seeing and hearing...I STILL can't understand why some people are so bothered by others' sexual orientation in such a manner. :##:

^ Hugs. (*8*)

Imho, it stems from a self-important, self-serving need for power and control - they feel that they need to insert their personal approval or vehement disapproval upon other people whom they do not personally know.

It's as if the person who is being disapproved upon is all of a sudden supposed to "come to their senses" and therefore change.

This is the reason, in my view, equality is winning - the anti-gay crowd just come across as self-important - "We're trying to protect the children!" "What about the sanctity of marriage??!"

Thankfully, most people - especially the younger under-40 crowd really get it, as Keith Olbermann so eloquently put it...

"In a time of impermanence and fly-by-night relationships, these people over here only want what you want - a chance to be a little less alone in the world."

I come from a small town of exactly the type of people you describe, GH. Trust me, I'm right there with ya!

I feel you honey,

I had to stop messing with folks online...one time I felt like I was about to have a heart attack. I was like 'Is this fool giving me heart palpitations....' I just can't do it anymore.

I didn't get too upset, but earlier I was all excited about learning that there was a bisexual Disney princess on Once Upon A Time. I was just talking about how they needed a gay character on there the other day. Of course people tried to destroy my happiness in the comments, that's when I got out of it....I can't do it with these people anymore. I hurt myself. Ill get upset, stomach hurting and they're sitting pretty.

I would have pointed out to him that pupu is the Hawaiian word for appetizer and so yes, many of us do eat pupu. Even President Obama eats pupu.

Some people leave me speechless. This past week two people who head up a group on parentlng wanted to meet with me. We met. They explained it was a 'single and parenting' group and thought it would be great to have the input of a gay parent. These people know who I am and they know my husband. "You know I'm not single", I said. "But you're not really married" was their reply. While I am looking at them, I am thinking it's not possible to be so clueless, I could tell from the looks on their faces that they were.

I wish all the best to you and your husband. (*8*) And to the parent group - fuck 'em!

To be quite truthful, I have absolutely had it with these people who not only don't get it, but frankly, don't want to.
