Recently I download Grindr and I'm shocked to discover my ex-university lecturer on it.


Technically, he's not really my lecturer because he never taught me. But he's from the teaching faculty where I studied.


And I recognises his face.

We are all adults here in JUB. Hot Topics isn't a cocoon or a baby nursery (though I hear there's special forum for the 'bicurious').

Trolling is the antithesis of adult behaviour.
Instead of encouraging debate, or generating any kind of respect for the troll, adult minded people find it tiresome.
Trolls are in general better suited to the nursery.

Contrary to the belief that these personalities keep the place interesting, they're a fucking bore. They result in the same few topics/arguments coming up in multiple threads, and worse, they result in many interesting/valuable members of the forums either taking extended breaks or just leaving entirely.

Is it my imgagination or has the traffic in HT slowed down a lot in the last couple of months? Sometimes it comes to a complete halt. Last weekend I noticed several long gaps, one of them over five hours, between posts. I know the whole of North America is in bed between about 8 and 12 am UK time, but that still leaves all of Europe, Australasia and South Africa. It's as if people are losing heart. Or like I said, am I imagining it?

What utter bollocks, if you don't like how HT is going make a thread that interests you, hell, you can go make fifty of them.

Start bringing something to the forum other than continually moaning from the sidelines or buggering off to moan on an even worse forum.

I think the mods do an excellent job here, it can't be easy sticking by the rules when the mob is baying for blood all the time.

The New York Times has started running minute by minute updates on the EBOLA thing.

This is as absurd as the coverage being blown up on the Canadian Parliament thing. You'd think the lone gunman tried to steal Ottawa.

Last Friday i buried my estranged great aunt. At her funeral i met her Trustee, who has been 'looking after her' for the past six years. It was supposed to be a trustee from the charity whom was her sole beneficiary, but she was scammed by an individual who had nothing to do with the charity. And the worst part is, i know the scammer. I don't know what to do.

We bring varied vantage points on a plethora of subjects to JUB.
Many of us can put forth our opinions, or share facts/articles related to topics.

I love a good, HEALTHY, discussion/debate.

What incentive is there to start other threads if they end up the same? The same trolls show up, derail the topic, inject the same dead horses they have beaten all over Hot Topics.

The trolls are a real problem. Several of the regular posters have echoed Anders' observation. I concur.

Then report them again and again, they'll soon get the shove, or use the ignore function.

Everytime someone mentions the ignore function the usual suspects pop up with every excuse under the sun why it's not suitable. when the real reason is they don't want to miss out on the gossip.



Anders has done what he always does, come in, laid a turd and wondered off all the while complaining about a mysterious smell.
