I don't enjoy being outside when it's this cold but I do like falling asleep when it's this cold. I love feeling chilly when I go to bed. I know some people who wrap themselves with their comforter when going to bed. That's crazy. I need to stick my feet out or my arm.

Ahh! I understand, i too have not seen any posts from him for a wee while. Perhaps on holiday perchance?

So I have been awake for 24 hours. I just couldn't fall asleep. I keep thinking about random things. I turned of my laptop two hours before my desired bedtime, I had my phone away from me, and still nothing.

What do you guys do to calm your thoughts before going to sleep?

Don't laugh but..............I use nature recordings ie; rain, waves, tropical jungle...........works every time.

A number of things can throw off the sleep cycle. Not being able to turn off your brain is only one. Another is keeping irregular hours. Alcohol use is another. People who have to travel alot in different time zones often use melatonin to try to regulate their sleep cycle. Stimulants like caffeine, which are not only in coffee but also in tea and chocolate might play a role.

Have you tried reading a novel until you get sleepy. Don't get into bed until you are actually ready to sleep might help, too.

My therapist has recommended audiotherapy for me, to help calm my nerves from the day's stressors, and sometimes I'll leave YouTube up on my PC (part of my bedroom is actually a working office), and just turn my monitor off when I go to bed. It's actually done wonders for helping me control my sometimes exceptionally violent nightmares - psychiatric damage caused by my PTSD.

YouTube has done wonders for audiotherapy, and has basically made it free for anyone who wants it - once upon a time you had to go to a music/entertainment store and buy a CD of rain, thunderstorms, forest sounds, water running through a stream, etc., and put it in your CD player at home.

Now, audiotherapy is completely free of charge for anyone who wants it, and is only a YouTube video away. There's an endless amount of videos dedicated to literally just audiotherapy alone - ocean waves, ethereal music (anywhere from Native American pipe music to soft Egyptian themes, and beyond), forest sounds, pretty much anything you want. All you have to do is search for it.

Here are two of my personal favorites...

I have tried reading a book before going to bed but it has the opposite effect on me. I'll try audiotherapy and see how that goes.

You know, it could be my mattress that's causing me to lose sleep. I NEED a new one but I don't have the cash right now.

I am sorry to learn of the trouble you are having trying to sleep. I too suffer from this on occasion, mainly because my thoughts are dwelling on something, usually traumatic which has happened that day.

I usually listen to a CD from a group called Deep Forest, totally amazing mixing of the modern and the ancient. Enigma is another i find to be helpful.
I hope respite comes very soon for you. Kindest regards, Adam....(*8*)

Since 2005 I have used Trazadone to sleep.....it was the magic bullet at the point of crisis where the lack of sleep and the interrupted sleep cycles were threatening to make me non-functional.

As well, there is no computer or television in my bedroom and the electronics are shut off no later than 10pm with a bit of readint time after.

I am a big fan of audiotherapy. A cat to stroke is also a good device to use although they fuck you up on the other end of the cycle.

After starting Cipralex, I found my need for a sleeping aid lessened.

That doesn't work for somebody, like me, whose circadian rhythm is something other than 24 hour cycles. I can often get away with some resemblance of a 24 hour cycle when I'm not really busy, but when I get quite busy (which is often), that goes all-zappity-blazes-to-hell. When I'm busy, my body wants cycles of 25-something hours, so my schedule deteriorates.

I'm just about ready to go to bed now, and hopefully successfully "jump off" of it, as I've "more or less" finished pulling an all nighter, and I'm not as busy now. "More or less" because I wasn't awake for 32 hours straight, but catnapped about four hours ago for half an hour or so. I've already put in more than 100 hours of work and otherwise being busy (with things that needed to be done, rather than optional things) THIS YEAR...and I made my deadline eight hours ago.

I've been on the fucked up schedule since about a week before Christmas.

I wonder how long the readjustment will last this time?

But YEAH, when I'm really busy...and if I wasn'[t going to bed until I'm ready...the bedtime just migrates later and later. I'm not controlled by an employer who requires that I keep any specified hours but, on the other hand, I've forgotten what it's like to have a MERE 40-hour workweek.

Self-employed people often put in crazy hours...

I'm generally not insecure about my looks, but sometimes I see men who are so attractive...they make me feel like a troll who needs to crawl up under a rock.

Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. I've met men who most think are quite attractive, but as soon as they open their mouths, become much less so. With out even seeing your face, i think you are one of the most attractive guys on here. 👬

hurt because I feel like I want to [STRIKE]collect[/STRIKE] possess them but they're human beings, not dolls.

Is it too much to ask for people not to try to scam, rip us off, steal from my store for one day?
