This is what it looks like outside our house at the moment:

Winter is in full swing now. Oh, joy of joys.....

It's just as bad here, i'm thinking about calling in sick.

Oh my. That is barely a dusting. We still wear shorts with that little snow. ;)

Looking at all the photos of your winter weather makes me so relieved that I left England and moved to the South of France.

It gets cold here but just the sort of cold that allows you to dress up with smart winter coats and scarves. :D

I can't believe my electricity company?!?!

They want to skyrocket my rate from $0.07.4 cents per kilowatt hour to over $0.10! Welp, guess since I'm out of my contract, it's time to start shopping for someone else, and vote with my wallet, and my feet

I just want to keep the lights on, in a 650-square-foot sardine-can-of-an-apartment one-bedroom flat on the 3rd floor. And I don't want to spend a fortune to do it. Is that too damn much to ask?!?!

What crack are you people smoking, and do you share??? FML :##:

Does anyone notice how often "receptionists" tend to be rude, dismissive, and crabby when you're going to the doctor's office, clinics, or any business for that matter?

While I'm not exactly a receptionist as you described, in my case It's because of the amount of babysitting the general public expect us to do FOR YOU.

It's not MY fault you:

Forgot your paperwork.
Don't know how to fill out paperwork/ fill it out completely/correctly.
Forgot to bring in your ID.
Neglected to inform us you moved and your W2 went to the wrong address.
Claimed more dependents than you really have and now you're being garnished.
Washed/lost/ripped/ ... your pay check.

^ that's all well and good, but I always have my shit together. :)

Some of them act as if you're an inconvenience by being there BEFORE you even have a chance to open your mouth.

no babysitting needed here. Trust that I most likely don't want to be there any more than you want me there.

You know what I hate the most. There you are at the front of the queue at long last and you begin to explain the reason for your presence there when suddenly the telephone rings. Immediately the receptionist cuts you off mid word and spends the next 5 minutes sorting out a problem for the person who telephoned.

Excuse me but I took the trouble to come here, have queued and started a conversation and you start dealing with someone else.

In some cases I have lost my cool and insisted that they dealt with me and put the call on hold.

I work in retail and agree with you. If I am ringing someone up and the store phone rings I don't answer immediately because I think it is rude to do so. I tend to do it in between ringing so I am giving both my full attention.

I hate that at 32, occasional acne is still a thing. Within the past couple of days, I've noticed this deep hyper-localized soreness on the right side of my nose. Thing is, a simple pinch of the skin on my nose, and I can easily tell that it's not at skin level, near the surface. It feels much deeper than that - as if the acne lesion is lodged in the cartilage of my nose. The soreness is confined to the right side only, not the left.

It's driving me nuts.

YES. I hate that. I had one on the side of my cheek and it was driving me crazy. I thought it was my tooth giving me problems but I found the fucker and left it alone. Gone now.

Finally we were able to take Ivy to the vet and they said there was physically nothing wrong with her but we are having blood work done. Can't wait to get all the info back to be able to relax about her.

^ *fingers crossed for Ivy*

OMFG, would my neck stop hurting me, please? And I feel tired and sleepy as hell.

Going through the medical records of an elderly disabled vet friend of my boss's. Four. Hundred. Pages. Of medical records. The United States Veterans Affairs dept. has screwed this guy over for years. They've ruled he's disabled, they know he's disabled. Hell, their incompetence in his medical care is directly and provably responsible for a majority of his disability, and the dangerous condition of his health and wellbeing But they're also supposed to be paying him for said disability and they're not. Especially since it is provably their incompetence in his medical care that has caused the decline of his health

I'm no doctor, nor do I play one on TV. But I can see that they've willfully allowed his poor heart health, his diabetes, his mental health amongst other things to go unchecked for years, if not decades, since the '90s!!! There's been everything from surgery mishaps (the screw left inside his left arm after fracture repair surgery) to them saying in his allergic reactions list, that he's allergic to flu. Not the flu vaccine. But the illness itself. When my boss and I buy him groceries, we buy him 2 cube-cases of eggs every month - it's impossible that he's allergic to the flu vaccine, since he eats eggs like they're going out of style. If you've read the previous 3 or 4 sentences of what I wrote, and are scratching your head going, "wait, wut???" Well yeah, we are, too.

Just by my sheer using Google to help me decipher all of this information and what it all means, basically, there are more holes in this guy's 400 pages of medical records than there are in Swiss cheese. We think the VA might owe this guy hundreds of thousands, if not a million or two in backpaid disability for what they really owe him, plus, as I said, all the medical issues they prove in his records that he actually has, but they're not effectively treating him for it, nor are they actually paying him for it - both of which, they're actually supposed to be doing.
