Was that in the wall or the floor?

I believe in functionalist architecture where the services are accessible.

After today, I also believe in functionalist architecture where the services are accessible. Alas, the drain must connect to the sewer, and so it's buried beneath about 4 inches of concrete in the basement. We removed about ten feet of the floor, and completed the sawing. We have another ten feet to go. If I were wealthy, I would hire a contractor to do the work and spare myself the inconvenience, the wretched filth and the backbreaking labor.

As I type this...Me and my husband are in the middle of staging an estate sale in an old Victorian Home...been working on it a week now...lots of scary stuff in the old nooks and crannies....

The plumber who located the pipes for me mentioned "sewer worms" and advised that I purchase lime to control the rotten air. The lime, at least, provides me with some romantic whimsy about the adventure of living during medieval Plague times. In reality, I feel a sudden gratitude for the luxury of hot running water.

I have smashed an old pedestal and installed a "P Toilet" through the wall.

Have you considered this—

The drain in question serviced my kitchen and laundry facilities. We luckily didn't have to negotiate feces. For what it's worth even if my poop was macerated, it would still have to connect to the sewer per regulation. These remain buried.

I assume you are getting a squatting one.

I wish!

... my kitchen and laundry facilities...

I'm determined that any house I live in must have all that pipework at the perimeter of the house.

Very few houses here have basements. I'm surprised that so many US houses in the city and country seem to have basements.

The parents have to keep the unemployed kids somewhere.

Over here we don't need basements because our generous welfare system will help them with their delusions.

Like this 19year old who wants to be PM and would like to give even more handouts.

M "I talk some sense. In fact, I talk a lot of sense so people would vote for me.

"I would make sure everybody who wants new teeth, or holes repaired in teeth, gets them. You can't get that on NHS at the moment.

"I would make sure everyone who wants boob jobs gets them on the NHS."

Half the US freezes in the winter. We can't put pipework in the outer walls easily. Basements just give people more room to store junk they don't need.

^ Thank God for basements.

We had the stone basement deepened with a concrete floor to store shit as well as for an workroom............I have no idea what we would do without the space.

And it does make some plumbing and heating jobs way easier.

:(:?I can't believe this has really happened
Fans all over the world are in shock right now.:cry::cry::confused:

It hadn't even sunken in yet. It's all over social media FB and Twitter are reporting that the most beloved Hollywood couple are divorcing. I'm really, really sad for them and I hope we can all rally together and support them.both during this difficult time. I thought that was true love there.

I came home from the gym and the first thing I see is this awful news on my phone.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS LOVE.

It's shocking news. Some of the worst news I've heard all week.

OMG! OMG! OMG! Say it isn't so!!!

*squeals with horror*

Looks like we sawed through the shower drainpipe. ..|

At least I have a working toilet. (Knocks on wood.)

.... shower.....

I know a guy who revealed to me that he had been living in his house without a hot water service for about 6 months ... and that he had been manually-flushing his toilet for a similar length of time.

I had visited his house in that time and none of that was apparent to me.

In the parents basement was the chest freezer. It's where we stored home canned goods. Other than that, not much down there.

I'm still shocked over the big split between Angelina and Bradd. The thing that shocks me the most is the nice pics of how happy they were together on the red carpet and now they're no longer together.

I really never saw this one coming at all. And another thing those women on that other forum just had to turn this sad news into their own personal laugh fest. Theve been attacking Angelina's figure and calling her skinny.

You'd think they'd have a little sympathy for a woman going through a very difficult time, but NO instead it's just a chance to pick on the poor woman's figure.

Good news - that thing I thought was an ear infection...wasn't an ear infection!

Bad news? It was shingles. And it laid into me something fierce. Rash across my face and top of my head, massive eye pain, sinus pain, ear pain. I was flat on my back for a week, unable to do much of anything. I couldn't even sleep because I wasn't able to get comfortable enough to fall asleep. Finally started turning the corner late Saturday. The rash has scabbed up and is clearing up bit by bit, and I'm at about 70% now. Just need to get a good night sleep or two, and I think I'll be finally on top of it.
