My brother recommended "The Heat" with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy and I saw it tonight. It's a comedy and I enjoyed it. I recommend it.

I think my Noboru Iguchi (well-known in the West stuff) ratings go in this order:

1) Machine Girl
2) Tokyo Gore Police
3) Mutant Girls Squad (which I just watched)
4) RoboGeisha

Not including the wonderful F is for Fart, and haven't seen Dead Sushi yet.

In the last few weeks.... (I'm still in 2011 on my list)

Thor

There Be Dragons

The Way

Priest

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Midnight in Paris

Blitz

Kung Fu Panda 2

The Tree of Life

The Eagle. It was OK.

Gladiator. It was the first time I watched it. I liked it more than The Eagle.

Martyrs (2009).

Beneath a patina of extreme violence is a really clever little movie. ..|

Some seem to mistake its quasi-religiosity as pretense; I think Martyrs has more in common with the pop comic wit of Rosemary's Baby than the brutal illuminations of Bergman. No matter how well-crafted the storytelling, its "philosophy" isn't meant to come across too seriously.

I expected El Bulli: Cooking in Progress (2010) to be not much more than a commercial for Ferran Adria. Of course, it is. But it's also a genuine illustration of what it's like to be a chef, just slowed down a hundred-thousand fold by means of Adria's extravagant budget. Probably not interesting for a general audience unless you are bored and rich.

You can tell Romero has his heart in the right place with Land of the Dead (2005). Unfortunately, it comes across like a television episode with its hackneyed allegory, cartoon characters and bland thrills.

Thank you I now have new movies to look for
RoboGeisha and Tokyo Gore Police will always be in my top ten

The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (1958). The acting was cheesy (the lead was Kerwin Mathews who was gay) and the plot even more-so, but golly, Ray Harryhausen. Plus the nostalgia factor. I saw it as a preteen at a Saturday matinee and that damn Cyclops scared the hell out of me.

I just watched a special on Ray Harryhausen. Such a talented man. My first exposure to his art was "The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (1974) at age eleven. :). My cool dad took me to the drive-in to see the movie.

A young matriarch of an Ozark Squirrel-Eating Clan battles the witch-queens of the rival Meth Clan. Winter's Bone (2010).

An outsider makes a lovely, if somewhat colonial, appraisal of Taiwanese cuisine. The Raw and the Cooked: A culinary Tour through Taiwan (2012).

TED on HBO

I wasn't expecting much but it had its moments.

Ted: "Turkey burgers? Are we having homosexuals over for dinner??"

Ted: Well he only had three other batches (of weed): "Gorilla Panic", "They're coming! They're coming!" and something called "This Is Permanent"..

The Heat. One of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time.
The Long Ranger. Very disappointed with this movie. Too long and too boring. The best part of the movie was the last 1/2 hour of the movie where there was some action.
