The Bank Job* (UK) 2008

*inspired by a true story - the movie claims the records in the case are sealed until the year 2054

Watched it for the first time last night on Netflix, I liked it. Below is the Netflix synopsis of it, for those curious about watching it.

Newspaper columnist Gwen Cummings (Sandra Bullock) never met a drink she couldn't quaff. But when her drunken buffoonery ruins her sister's wedding -- and does some major property damage -- a judge orders her to choose between rehab and jail. Gwen won't come clean about being an alcoholic, but a few days into her month-long dry-out, she meets a fellow resident (Viggo Mortensen) who'll change her outlook on life and love. Dominic West co-stars.

Theater: The Descendants

It was rather dull and boring. Not what I was expecting from Clooney.

HBO: Sanctum

Entertaining enough. Nothing spectacular but I did enjoy it.

Just saw Fright Night (2011) dvd. Way awesome. Much more enjoyable than I expected. Ranks right up there with my favorite horror/comedy flicks such as Lost Boys and Drag Me to Hell.

It also has some hot homoerotic scenes. The Colin Farrell vampire really likes to seduce the high school boys.

^ How was it? I saw the movie originally and I know it kinda sucks but how was the 3D?

30 Minutes or Less.

I've never seen a comedy where it looked like the main actors couldn't act their way out of a paper bag for the entire movie... if it wasn't for the second half, the move woulda been a total fail.

A couple of hopeful kids in the City of Ember (2008) pit themselves against complacency, superstition and corruption to save their people from destruction.

Although it's a naive young adult narrative, the plot and setting remind me much more of something like Saramago's Blindness or McCarthy's The Road than pop whimsy like Collins' The Hunger Games. That's good.

Another odd one I've somehow missed: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. The kitschy imagery that accompanies the soundtrack meanders here and there, but the waah-waaah-waah keeps it all together.

Safe House with Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds.

A decent movie. Nothing to write home about or see for a second time.
