the last film you watched thread

You mean the 1987 original with Bruce Campbell by Sam Raimi? Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn?

Ha! I love that crap. :luv: Probably in my top ten favorite horror movies ever. Clever effects, hilarious script, amazing camera work, comic acting, thrills, goofiness and tree-rape. Haven't seen the new 2013 thing, though, and doubt if I will.

Yep that's the one, thought I was watching Scooby Doo at one point FFS then a muppet Halloween special with the puppet trees. It was train wreak TV I just couldn't stop watching it no matter how much I wanted too. Sorry to those who love it but to me it was a pile of s**t.

On another note tonight I watched Avengers :)

You might also hate Dead Alive, then, check it out. ..|

"This Means War". Guilty pleasure rom-com. It was cheeky and silly but enjoyable enough.

Woman in Black.

Not exactly scary, but it could not decide if the ending was positive or negative.

Amour (2012) ... elderly husband is the caregiver to his wife who has dementia. A very slow movie yet the message is clear; love is unconditional even if the life of the one you love is essentially gone.

A woman might be granted all the fearsome powers of a phallus. But at the end of the day she's still just a woman...

Rabid (1977).

I don't know how I disliked Cronenberg when I was a kid. Now, I love his movies.

Excellent film. Glad you are now a Cronenberg fan! :) Have you seen "Shivers" and "Videodrome"?

Oh yeah! Shivers is unique and awesome. I prefer its alternative title: They Came From Within. Sex zombies ahoy!

I like Scanners a bit more than Videodrome. I think most people would probably rate those the other way around, but from his classic period, Scanners seems tighter, more stylish.

Two DVDs I purchased today--

Decoding the Past: Secrets of the Koran (Part 1 & 2)--A History Channel production

Up next--

Ancient Evidences: Mysteries of Jesus--A BBC production

I'm not usually into "mainstream" movies. Watched this last night with my parents and found it to be well-acted and nail-biting. I recommend.

:) I love "Scanners" as well. I saw it upon initial theatrical release. I love 'Videodrome" because I'm a huge Blondie fan and love me some Debbie Harry. Have you seen the NC-17 cut of "Crash"? It's really good.

Also watched this film and took it at what it was unadulterated nonsense popcorn movie. Angela Bassett and Morgan Freeman were fantastic in this I have to say.

Nope. I remember being interested in it based on description of Ballard's work, but it came out to consistently bad reviews and I felt discouraged. I'll put it in my queue, though, as I trust your taste in cinema.

That trailer for Videodrome, btw, is the shit. :=D:

I just struggled through The Woman (2011) and almost turned it off. A superb premise undermined by a poppy, adolescent feel and absurd, patronizing, quasi-feminist screenwriting.

After the Matthew McConaghey thread here the other day we had to watch "Killer Joe". The gratuitous ass shots are amazing. The movie was far better than I ever expected it to be. The acting was great, the characters were well developed and I will definitely see it again. We also saw "Stargate" again, excellent!
