the last film you watched thread

A "slow burn". Fairly creepy. Grade: B-. I recommend for a cold/rainy day. :) The inspired by actual events REALLY means the writers researched numerous paranormal incidents. This is not based on one "true' story.

Watched the first part of Nymphomaniac on Netflix, I gotta say it is interesting. I enjoyed it but I agree with what someone said in the comments section of the Netflix reviews, that the forced metaphors are a bit much. I will probably get around to the second part today but I see people didn't enjoy it as much as the first, we'll see.

Watched Nyphomaniac Part 2 earlier and I quite enjoyed it. It seems people have a problem with the ending because they think it doesnt make sense, but it makes me feel like some people werent really paying attention or just neglecting some of the movie to where the end makes sense.

I saw Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Guardians of The Galaxy this week.

TMNT - What can I say... actually all I can say is that it pretty much sucked.
The original film from years back had more atmosphere and engaging characters/performers than this shallow suck fest.
The only thing I mildly enjoyed were the turtles voices, everything else was bleh... even Splinter looked like a demonic goat head.

TGOTG - A generic sci-fi/action story. Sure, it was fun and nice but nothing spectacular.
Chris Pratt must thank his personal trainer cause he got hotter.
Vin Diesel, its funny after all the hub bub that was made about him doing the Groot voice, if you edited all his vocal segments together, it'd probably be around a minute or a minute and a half long in duration. LOL
The real surprise here was, Dave Bautista. I thought he'd be a big quiet brute throughout the whole film but he was engaging. I didn't know he had it in him, as a performance anyway.

I enjoyed the Raccoon, Bradley did a wonderful job here.

:)

I liked the new TMNT movie. It had its issues but I think overall the good outweighed the bad by a good margain and the turtles themselves were a lot of fun.

A Greek myth is re-enacted during Rio's Carnival, Black Orpheus (1959).

Flexing With Monty.

Terrible tripe of a "movie". If you're into convoluted "gay" "horror" movies just because there's an English muscle bound actor, have fun with it. If not, run far away from it.

We had to watch "Very Bad Things" again, it is so amazingly good and Cameron Diaz gives the best performance ever. "Alice in Wonderland" by the unbelievable Tim Burton, it is pretty perfect in our opinion. We also watched the new "Robocop", it was pretty great and it made one think about the state of technology and where we are heading.

Archetypal Bollywood melodrama, Aradhana (1969).

My favorite song from it by SD Burman:

Watching The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964) at 1.5x times normal speed did little to relieve me of my suffering.

An Italian post-apocalyptic grindhouse story in which a dull hero battles an all-male homosexual cult determined to eliminate the vestiges of humanity from the Earth...the epic premise almost makes it bearable.

The New Barbarians (1982).

Stranger by the Lake (2013) (L'inconnu du lac)

Summertime. A cruising spot for men, tucked away on the shores of a lake. Franck falls in love with Michel. An attractive, potent and lethally dangerous man. Franck knows this, but wants to live out his passion anyway.

Graphic sex scenes

In French. English subtitles.

The Maze Runner

I liked it a lot. I can't wait until part two. Also I'll be reading the books.
