The Magnificent Splendour Never Dies.

This Russian Orthodox church holds an interesting record: its materials came from farther away than for any other building on Earth -- the lumbr came from northern Siberia, and the church is in Antarctica!

That's the interior of the Roman Catholic Ice Chapel, which was carved out of immobile continental ice. That's one record; the other is that it is the southernmost church building in the world. It was carved out in 1979.

I have to wonder what the floor is like; if it's just bare ice then it could be said that the priest just skates through the liturgy. :eek:
