Modern comedians self-identify as funny, old ones simply [try to] pretend they are.Reminds me of a line by the late Barry Humphries, who referred to modern comedians who "self-identify as funny".

No one would grasp this as personally from his own experience in the final years of his fading career as Barry Humphries.Reminds me of a line by the late Barry Humphries, who referred to modern comedians who "self-identify as funny".
Because some demographics just don't feel alive unless they're crushing someone else-- usually shooting ducks in a barrel.Still trying to figure out why you felt the need to resurrect this thread.
You have no point to prove...just some axe that seems to need grinding. See my reply to your (re)-opening post.
If the point still is flying too far above your head, then ask yourself why you think you have a more legitimate right to self-identification than other people you don't actually know and who do not interfere with your life in any way.
And of course changing sex does not address either issues
While there are a very small minority that have genuine gender dysphoria or other medical reasons to transition, the vast majority have the wrong reasons for wanting to change
It would seem that an increase in people undergoing transition would be accompanied by an increase in people undergoing detransition?Yes, and that is why the numbers of detransitioners are increasing so rapidly.
Again....why do you care? Does this somehow personally affect you?Yes, and that is why the numbers of detransitioners are increasing so rapidly. Until about 2015, people had to take years of therapy as an adult before beginning a transition, now kids are being sent on that path.
There's a great quote about this by no less than Helen Joyce:
It would seem that an increase in people undergoing transition would be accompanied by an increase in people undergoing detransition?
Percentage-wise, I've never seen a research study that had more than 10% of people in the study who detransitioned... although the definition of "transition" and "detransition" are so loose these days that I'm not sure that anyone has a clear picture of what is happening.
You'll need to offer more research studies. Having worked at a couple of academic medical centers with transgender clinics, until recently it was a very long and arduous process to transition. Those programs were very successful and had very low "regret" ratios because of the long process and intensive therapy involved. That has changed recently with increases in the "medicalization" of gender transition and there is a significant shortage of mental health professionals who have experience with gender issues.Um, no. For five decades, the number of transitions increased while detransitioning didn't. It wasn't a thing, so to speak.
I suspect that there are studies that will disclose the reasons behind detransitioning, particularly amount male to female transition and it follows a time-delay that follows the arc of increases by several years in similar to proportions to past studies. The reasons will likely be exogenous: family pressure, employment issues, societal pressure, et al.
Funny how so many people consider transitioning a disruption, perversion and abomination... But not detransitioning.Funny how so many people assume that detransitioning is due to external factors like peer pressure, family pressure, societal pressure... But transitioning never is.
This is such bullshit.
Again, cite the research.Funny how so many people assume that detransitioning is due to external factors like peer pressure, family pressure, societal pressure... But transitioning never is.
Funny how so many people consider transitioning a disruption, perversion and abomination... But not detransitioning.
If what a person really opposes is pressure, said person would not care about favouring transitioning or detransitioning.Really? If a person considers that changing from A to B is a bad thing, then presumably changing back to A again would be welcomed by that person.
I think it does...obviously always an exclusionary radical feminist with here girls only club....but I now understand why she is so vocal since her literal exclusion of a trans woman ended up court.Does it? ^
