God I hope we don't lose Tek

I here you dude.
It is a little scary for you regarding Tek right now, I think your biggest concern would be the Tigers who are gonna be looking to replace Pudge Rodriguez.
Teks agent, Scott Boras, who has worked with the Tigers many times in the past, may try to sell the Tigers on Varitek.
The Sox would maybe be interested in a short term deal with Tek or trade him for a young catcher like maybe Jarrod Saltalamacchia or Taylor Teagarden.
I have also heard ex-Sox Kelly Shoppach's name come up.
I wonder though if Saltalamacchia might end up in a position other than catcher, given his lack of defensive skills.

Catching is the Sox' biggest question mark

What do you guys think will happen with MAN-RAM (Manny Ramirez) . I would love to see him stay with the Dodgers. I know he is asking for a 6 year contract and I dont see Ned Colleti putting up the cash that Manny is requesting. He brought so much life to the DOdgers and Dodger stadium. I dont want to see him goto The Mets or the Yankees..

First let me say it’s great to have you to this thread, I love seeing new people on here sharing ideas.
The "MAN-RAM", or FANNY As we like to call him, is going to be very interesting. As you know his agent is Scott Boras, and he can be a pit bull.
Scott has already said he expects Manny to be recognized with the same length of contract and a similar rate of pay as Barry Bonds and Alex Rodriguez. By Boras law, because Ramirez is getting up there in age (36) the teams can expect him to expect a six-year deal.
That would seem to rule out the Dodgers, who although they have not made an offer, proly be looking for two years at about $55 million,
Boras has said he wants (and Manny wants) to go to a place where he'll be there a long time and being part of an organization.
And at this point he's just looking to be treated at the same stature as other players who are at that “unique” level of Bonds and A-Rod.
Brocus cracked me up when he said Manny would be worth the price and would pay for himself cause there aren’t very many franchise players out there that could do that.
Please, get over yourself

I don’t think Manny will be a Dodger in ‘09

Too early to predict who will accept Brocus terms but you can’t rule out the Yankees,

This just in The Dodgers are offering Manny 25 million per year contract either 2 - 3 years. The highest average salary for a Dodger. This is great news, however if also opens the door for other topping offers.... we shall see....

Thank you ! I am glad to be welcomed . True Brocus is going to exaggerate a little . Manny also said Gas prices are up and so am I .

What I am hearing is the offer, though not yet disclosed, is said to be the second highest
average annual value in baseball.
Now if you look at what is already out there, I guess there thinking A-Rod or Santana.
A-Rod gets about $27 million and Santana 23 Million.
The Dodgers have an offer on the table to keep Manny Ramirez, but we dono for sure what it is, no one is talking. What we heard in the past was two years for $50 million or three years for $75 million. I have also heard 2 years for $60 million.
But I am pretty sure Boras will want 6 years for Manny.

Boras, ya gotta love em.

God I hope we don't lose Tek

Boros won’t make signing Varitek easy.
I heard him say the other day that Yankees catcher Jorge Posada’s four-year, $52.4 million deal, will serve as a benchmark for any team looking to land Tek.
Boros went on to say, You’re not going to have many catchers who have the performance levels and a 60 percent winning percentage on a franchise and have won two world championships and caught four no-hitters. The idea of it is that there just aren’t many in the marketplace that can lead a club like Jason Varitek and that’s going to be his value.

So I guess they can stick that in their pipe and smoke it.

I don’t think The Red Sox havent made an offer yet,, but they are known to want to limit the length of a deal, When you factor in Teks age and his (sorry Brad) offensive decline. It’s likely the Sox will want only a two-year deal. I don’t see Scott buying into that.
Boros is making it clear that he believes Teks lower offensive numbers were temporary, saying he believed some of that was caused by his problems off the field, his divorce for example, which may have impacted his performance.
I am totally buying into that.

Stay tuned

Boras is an ass....all about his guy, which is good, but nothing for the team...no way on Earth he could believe the bull about winning percentages and contributions=pay my guy like Posada.Posada's also a focal point for the Yankee offense,90+RBI a year(where Jason has been at best a solid contributor and that's become very sporadic the past few years)and at his age his contract was probably too generous.....look at the injuries this year, and how quickly can he be expected to reach his peak performance at 38 if at all?Jason Veritek is a gamer,a leader and God,he's way hot....but nowhere near worth anything more than a decent one or two year contract now.

Albert Pujols win his 2nd NL MVP Award!

:=D::=D::=D:

NEW YORK (AP) -- St. Louis Cardinals star Albert Pujols has won his second National League Most Valuable Player award.

Pujols won by a comfortable margin over Philadelphia slugger Ryan Howard. Milwaukee's Ryan Braun was third and Los Angeles outfielder Manny Ramirez came in fourth after playing just two months with the Dodgers.

Pujols hit .357 with 37 home runs and 116 RBIs despite playing much of the season with a sore right elbow. The Cardinals finished fourth in the NL Central.

The St. Louis baseman got 18 of the 32 first-place votes. He also won the award in 2005.
