Great Championship for the SF Giants!!! Great pitching, once again, trumps great offense. THe GIants pitching was truly outstanding, Lincecum, Cain, Bumgarner, Wilson, etc. top notch performances and enough clutch hitting to win the Series.
 
^ Aww c'mon, even NaughtyArousal has said a few posts back that Cliff Lee isn't always lights out. It's not the end of the world if he does go to the Yankees.

It will feel more gratifying though if my team does get hits/runs off him. And at the very least, it will lessen the importance of taking pitches in order to get walks, which the belief that would happen was one of the reasons why my team lost to the Rangers in the ALDS.
 
I posted this in the Mets Winter Report thread but I probably should have put it in here instead.

I hate to see stuff like this happen even to an old Philly player.
Jamie Moyer who is recovering from an elbow injury he got last season hurt himself again pitching winterball in the Dominican Republic. Reports are his career may be over. Jamie who is a free agent now wanted to show what he still has by pitching in winterball but it has not gone well. He is 47 now and he was one of the best but sadly it looks like it's over for him.

From the sounds of it, his career most likely is. People rip on players for staying in but truly don't realize how hard it is to walk away from a game you love.

Absolutely right, it must be very difficult decision to make especially for a player like Moyer
after all those great years.
But for some it comes a bit easier because they want to go out strong and not become some sort of joke in the last years, Piazza is a good example, one of the best offensive and defensive catchers of our time knew it was time and went out with dignity.

Some know it's time and accept it,for others it can take one or two years of really bad performances before they admit to themselves Father Time has caught up to them.
 
Sorry to hear of Ron Santo's death. A real star third baseman during his career with the Cubs. Helped fill the middle of the order with Billy Williams, Ernie Banks. Fought a brave battle with diabetes. RIP
 
And on the Cliff Lee note, as a Yankee fan, I want him to come here but both Yankee and Texas fans need to stop with all the reasons about why Cliff will go or stay and simply admit it's going to come down to money, and nothing more.
 
Reading the reports about Boston, calling them grinders and fighters? Please, if the Yankees made the same moves, the torches would already be out.

I hear that, but ya gotta admit Boston is making the Yankees sweat a bit as well.
I love it!!!
The Red Sox/Yankee riverly is classic and so much fun to see it start so early this year.

I don't blame Crawford for leaving, but my hate for the Red Sox probably just surpassed the Yankees, hard to do when there's a lot of NY/NJ transplants here in Tampa Bay still clinging to their old team, they were pretty much equal in the past.

I'm not worried as much as some folks are. Their bullpen is very shaky right now and I"ll take Mo closing over Papelbon any day of the week. It just drives me nuts that a lot of people are lauding the Red Sox for doing the same thing they rip the Yankees apart for. Taking players form small market teams.

You really didn't say that,sonny!:pI think there is a better chance Albert Pujols will get tempted by Windy City $ after being eligible for free agency after this season.I'd like to think Albert really wants to stay with the Cards,he's already a legend in St.Louis and it would look like only a greed ploy if he were to ditch the Cards for the Cubs,the Angels,any of the clubs talked about having great interest.

Feel bad though with Adam Wainwright's injury,requiring Tommy John surgery...such a great pitcher and he's facing a tremendous road back,though other pitchers have made wonderful recoveries it may take at least two seasons to approach his old level of excellence,if that.

My mom stayed a fan during those years too. And if we want to talk about bandwagon jumpers,it was amazing how many "Fans" Boston had after 04 and 07..same with Philly.
Every team has bandwagon jumpers.
