The Official Aaliyah Thread

^I could listen to her talk all day. :luv:

^Effortlessly so.

Cute vid of her and her mom:

They almost look like twins together as mom and daughter

^I know, right? I love her mom's speaking voice. It's really husky compared to Aaliyah's lighter tone.

Wondering how she's doing since its been 20 years her daughter is gone and her husband of aaliyah's father

Hopefully she and Rashad are making it through together. It doesn't lessen the pain, but I hope knowing Aaliyah and her dad are reunited brings them some peace.

Yea that's true I didn't become a fan of hers until later i don't remember when but maybe like in 2001 after her passing I didn't know her but when I found out I was sad then I began getting a collection of hers which has grown. Probably seeing her grave would hit me cause usually when I listen to rock the boat i get little sad its a beautiful video but sad too.

Yeah, I get what you mean. I became a fan around the time of One in a Million thanks to my older cousin who was and still is a major fan of 90's R&B and I remember the day of her passing like it was yesterday. She seemed to be having so much fun during the filming for the Rock the Boat video and she obviously had no idea her time on Earth was dwindling away. :(

Yes she looked like she really enjoyed her time with the people she was around making the music voice but didn't know anything was gonna happen. She probably had to know that when she saw the plane it wasn't the one she original one she took. If only..... she could have waited or if Damon or the other people she was around would have told her to stay even though she was exhausted from doing all those scenes but it came out very good!!!!

Her brother said she had a fear of small planes and he was sure he and his parents would've convinced her to wait for a safer plane had they accompanied her, but certain circumstances caused them not to go along with her.

On a brighter note, we're a month and a half away from the 20th anniversary of her last record! :gogirl:

Wow that's crazy to know it was her last album I read somewhere that she had a dream of something..

Aaliyah had a scary premonition before she died
About a month before she died, Aaliyah spoke to the German newspaper Die Zeit and revealed that she had a recurring dream where someone was following her and making her scared. But then she flies away and starts to feel peaceful.

“It is dark in my favorite dream. Someone is following me. I don’t know why. I’m scared. Then suddenly I lift off. Far away. How do I feel? As if I am swimming in the air. Free. Weightless. Nobody can reach me. Nobody can touch me. It’s a wonderful feeling,” she told the outlet (via The New Zealand Herald).

It is one of the last interviews that she gave before she passed.

^Can't believe she'd just turned 20 then. She had the poise of someone much older. :)

Yea when you look at her she didn't look like she was in her 20's her brother was born on

August 6, 1977 (age 43 years)

^He's a Leo. :) If I'm not mistaken, he dubbed some of Aaliyah's dialogue in Queen of the Damned. Although his voice was slightly deeper than hers with him being a guy, they had a similar way of speaking.
