Re: The B-52's

Is it just me or do you prefer the songs where Fred just shuts up and lets the girls get on with it?

i.e., Dirty Back Road, Give Me Back My Man, Summer Of Love, Roam...

Fred who? hahaha ;) It was all about Kate and Cindy for me (no disrespect to the guys).

If you've ever really read the lyrics to the first two albums.. they're FUCKED UP.

Hero Worship is about necrophilia, Give Me Back My Man is about begging seagulls to bring back the dead body of a drowned lover, Dirty Back Road is about anal sex, 52 girls is about how lame famous people were in the 70s.

I've always thought that Party Out Of Bounds was about how commercial success made B-52s shows kinda annoying.

Wow. Never knew that about Give Me Back My Man, just listened again and suddenly it makes sense. Always wondered about the fish! Brilliant!

Also, do people favour a particular girl's vocal? I've always liked Kate but recently have been picking up on Cindy's emotion and chutzpah. In fact, they're both brilliant and criminally underrated as vocalists. Do they get the respect they deserve in the US? Over here in UK, they never appear on retrospectives or lists of classic female singers/groups, etc.

One last thing, has anybody got a link to Ain't It a Shame? It's not available to download and not on Spotify and CD is very hard to come by. Thanks.

I love the B52s. I have their Rock Lobster/Planet Claire album on vinyl and it's taken quite a hammering over the years.

Re: Favorite B-52's song?

Rock Lobster---I like the simple funky guitar part towards the end when the song starts getting really crazy lol
I just got all their cd's in one package for 7.99:p

Re: Favorite B-52's song?

Love Shack for me.

Re: Favorite B-52's song?

Rock Lobster of Love Shack, this is one of the hardest choices I have ever made!

after deliberation with myself it's Love Shack, closely followed by Rock Lobster.
