I guess you could put it like that. I thought she was just engaging the crowd. She was facing them so when she pointed right she was pointing to their left.

who's who of Hollywood's elite and fashion's most coveted -- including music stars like Madonna, Taylor Swift, Kanye West, Rihanna, Beyoncé and more -- hit the red carpet in New York City on Monday night (May 2) for the annual Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala Benefit.

This year's event, "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty," honored the work of the late designer, who committed suicide in February 2010 at age 40.

"I miss him terribly, not only as a person but as a designer," said a visibly emotional Madonna, who was wearing a gown by Stella McCartney.

"I think the fashion business is a little bit dull without him and I loved his provocative punk rock attitude. I think his designs were brilliant. I think he was brilliant. And I hope he's having fun wherever he is right now."

Many celebrities who attend the Met Gala are escorted by the designer who dressed them. Francois-Henri Pinault, chief executive of luxury conglomerate PPR, and his wife, Salma Hayek, served as the event's honorary chairs. Colin Firth, designer Stella McCartney and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour were vice chairs.

Others who walked the red carpet included Jennifer Lopez and husband Marc Anthony, "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest with girlfriend Julianne Hough, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Hudson, Florence Welch, Keri Hilson, Fergie, Ciara, and "Glee's" Dianna Aragon and Leah Michele.

Also in attendance was the successor to McQueen at his fashion house, Sarah Burton, who also designed Kate Middleton's wedding dress,

The "Savage Beauty" exhibit will be on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art from May 4 to July 31.

Company claims their business collapsed when she pulled out of deal

Beyoncé is being sued by the software developer Gate Five for allegedly pulling out of a deal to create Starpower: Beyoncé, a motion-sensing dance video game. The company is seeking more than $100 million for what they say in a summons obtained by New York Magazine was "a bad faith breach of contract so callous that, on what appeared to be a whim, she destroyed Gate Five's business and drove 70 people into unemployment, the week before Christmas."

According to Gate Five, the singer "had already negotiated lavish compensation terms to which she was contractually bound," but made an "extortionate demand for entirely new compensation terms" at a pivotal moment in the development of the game. The summons claims that Beyoncé's actions toward the company were so unscrupulous that they were renounced by her father Mathew Knowles, her manager at the time. Beyoncé dropped Knowles as her manager last month.

Beyonce to Be Honored with Billboard Millennnium Award at Billboard Music Awards

Beyoncé will be honored with Billboard Millennium Award at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards, it was announced May 9. The iconic performer and international star will receive the honor at the May 22 show, which will air on ABC at 8-11pm ET/PT from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The Billboard Millennium Award will recognize Beyoncé's career achievements and influence in the music industry, from her role as the frontwoman of Destiny's Child to her three-chart-topping solo albums, which have collectively earned her 16 Grammy awards and ASCAP's Pop Songwriter of the Year award. Previously, Billboard named Beyoncé its Woman of the Year in October 2009, and Top Female Artist of the Decade in December 2009.

Beyoncé's Billboard Milliennium Award will arrive just as the star puts the finishig touches on her fourth studio album, due out later this year. The album, whose debut single "Run the World (Girls)" premiered in April, will be her first since 2009's "I Am...Sasha Fierce," which sold 2.9 million copies, according to Nielsen Soundscan.
