Re: The Official BEYONCE thread

Is she already working on her second video???

Yes, since RTW isn't making any waves and aint going nowhere on the charts. !oops! Time to move on I guess. Pop isn't support 'Run the World', but then again -- nobody did -- not even Urban. I tend to feel that her Itunes support has diminished as well in that the Itunes charting for all 3 songs haven't been that great compared to Gaga, Rihanna, Katy or Britney's trajectory on itunes when they released songs even with no video...

Wow. Three songs released from Bey and not one is a hit single. This album is gonna have trouble if that's they best shes got on it.

Re: The Official BEYONCE thread

WOW her album is about to come out and she has done very little promo for it :(

Re: The Official BEYONCE thread

Not too into Beyonce. She's talented but I get zero personality from her. I find the whole "I'm really shy so I needa alter ego" Sasha fierce routine childish and silly. Her n Jay-z piss me off. Not because he is ugly but because they are married but never act like a couple. They never touch and hardly ever walk next to each other.

But the main reason I cant get into her is she clearly has her huge gay fanbase to thank for her success. But she hardly ever acknowledges gay fans at all. I saw a Logo interviewer directly ask her a question about her gay fans and she looked so visibly uncomfortable and stumbled her way thru some bullshit. Im guessing she wants to be PC and not take any kind of stand.

People don't like artists just b/c of their talent but also what they stand for and what they represent. To me Beyonce doesnt seem to stand for anything.

HERE TV – “How do you feel about being a gay icon?”
BEYONCE – “It’s definitely my goal, and my dream.”
HERE TV – “To be a gay icon?”
BEYONCE – “Oh absolutely. That’s the ultimate thing I could be. That’s the ultimate compliment for me.”

"I was raised by my uncle who passed away with Aids a couple of years ago. He was my mother's best friend. He brought me to school every day. He helped me buy my prom dress. He made my clothes with my mother. He was like my nanny. He was my favourite person in the whole world. I never mixed Christianity with how I felt (about him). I am about faith and spirituality more so than religion, doing right by others and not judging." She also said that she'd have no problem if she had a son who turned out to be gay. "(I'd say) I love him for the person he is with no expectations back."

Do you see yourself as a gay icon?
I definitely hope so! I get a lot of my influences, a lot of my lingo, a lot of my mannerisms from watching the drag balls.
What is it about drag queens?
It’s so over-the-top. And I’m a frustrated drag queen! Absolutely! The more hair and the more lashes the better!

In "Get Me Bodied" she has a part that says "snap for the kids", so she shouted out gays in a song of hers @ 4:44

Re: The Official BEYONCE thread

Yes the album leaked. I'm listening to it (I know but I'm still buying it). I will say it is different (which is good), but I'm worried about how it will sell. She's taken the DIL route, I haven't heard that many dance tracks yet.

Beyoncé's '4' leaks online, three weeks before release

Not even Beyoncé is immune to the dangers of leaks.

On Tuesday morning, Twitter was abuzz with folks tweeting about the leak of yet another track, "Party," an André 3000-assisted midtempo produced by Kanye West and Consequence.

That song's premature release was quickly followed by the surfacing of the Boyz II Men-sampling “Countdown.”

Clearly someone had their hands on Beyoncé's highly anticipated disc “4,” which isn’t scheduled for release until June 28.

It didn't take long for the full album to surface, though her label is attempting to chase the offending sites down.

Popular music blogs including That Grape Juice and PinBoard Blog have removed “Party” and “Countdown,” reportedly due to cease-and desist notices from the singer’s legal team, and after reporting the album had leaked in full, Oh No They Didn't, the largest community on LiveJournal, is removing links to the album in its comment section.

But that isn’t stopping people from taking to Twitter to throw up links, as it’s a bit trickier to stem this flow. Could this be a potential hazard? The album’s first single, the dancehall jam “Run the World (Girls),” didn’t perform like previous first singles “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” "Déjà Vu” and “Crazy In Love” (though at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100, the track is at its highest entry). Reps for the singer didn't return requests for comment.

Up until now, the singer has carefully offered a taste of the disc. After performances on both the Billboard Awards and "The Oprah Winfrey Show," she debuted the power ballad “1+1” on “American Idol.” This before releasing the second single, “Best Thing I Never Had.” The only song that managed to leak without the aid of the label (or maybe not) was the Fela Kuti-inspired “End of Time.”

Lady Gaga’s anticipated disc “Born This Way” leaked a few days before its release, which is about normal these days, and still logged an astouding 1 million copies its first week, so who knows how much the leak will damage Beyoncé's bottom line.

Re: The Official BEYONCE thread

^I agree. Looking at others comments on other websites, many feel it is "boring" and too "slow". Leave it to Beyonce to make a quiet storm album and no one is feeling it. Poor them, the hood rats will hate it but I think it will be taken more seriously as an album. I love all the tracks, but I love I Miss You, Party, Countdown, 1+1, Rather Die Young and I Was Here.

Re: The Official BEYONCE thread

I love all of those as well but for me, "I Care" is the beast of this album. :luv:

I love the part when the guitar kicks in and Bey starts to mimic its riffs with her voice. At first you're like is that still the guitar or did Yonka's voice kick back in? OMG, that is her riffing along with the guitar! :D I love it, I've been playing "I Care" nonstop. She rocked that one imo. :-)
I haven't heard every track yet, but I agree, 'I Care' is amazing, and will probably be one of my favs.

'End of Time' has slayed my life - easily my favorite Bey track ever! I can't wait to see her perform it Live at the VMAs (not confirmed or even rumored, but I know she's saving it as the 3rd single for around that time).

Easily her best album to date! All we need is some promo now, and we're set...which should be coming soon, right Bey?...y'know, with less than 3 weeks before the album drops...I mean, you're not going to just sit back and let this album flop debut week are you?...hehe...right?....Bey?

Re: The Official BEYONCE thread

I just finished listening to the album and while I'm not in awe, I'm content. '4' is a soul album; reminiscent to the easier-listening early 90s. No auto-tuner...no noisy, sterile synths...no industrial beats...no socio-political pandering with hedonistic "anthems." She put the focus on mood and voice.

I give it a B-.

The only song I truly hated was "Countdown," which started off with seeming promise...but quickly devolved into silliness. It and "Run the World (Girls)" are the weakest songs on the album. Ironically those are the two that seemed like she *might* have been trying to be 'colorful' enough to stand out in this flaky pop scene we're in.

I'm glad Beyonce didn't jump on the euro/electro-pop/dance trend. It would have been very easy for her to try and forget her roots, sell out and record her own rip-off of Madonna's “Express Yourself” or some interchangeable robotic Only Girl In the World/Teenage Dream/Hold It Against Me/We R Who We R crap for skinny jeans wearing emo-hipsters who like that cheesy thump-thump crap, but that would have come back to bite her because she would have lost her core audience.

This electropop dance shit phase – I predict – is going to crash and burn very soon, and when it happens Gaga, Katy, Britney, Rihanna, Taio Cruz, and everyone else who represents this fad genre are going to become commercial pariah’s. Beyonce, meanwhile, won’t because she never really hopped on that bandwagon. So while she might initially struggle this summer and fall for not being bandwagon-y enough, in the end when people look back and cringe at the scene that allowed cartoons like Ke$ha to have radio hits, she won't be part of that backlash.

She kept it real (in the same zone as Dangerously In Love), by and large, and didn't pretend to be what she's not; for that she gets props from me.

Re: The Official BEYONCE thread

I Miss You is my absolute favorite when I first heard it, dare I said her best song, aside from Speechless, for me. Just the sound and her overall vocals especially when she sings "everything" :luv:. The only songs that sound filler are Best I Never Had and Run the World (Girls) (Bonus Track), because Girls is nothing but a bonus track to me.

Re: The Official BEYONCE thread

I'm just going to wait for her next cd:mad:

Re: The Official BEYONCE thread

I actually find 'Countdown' to be the most commercial song on the album...and I was surprised that I like it so much. I think it has that genre-blending 'extra' vibe to it that I was mentioning earlier. It makes me happy. And that damn chorus it just too cute. :luv:

"Party" is really the only track I see as weak. That said--her vocals are on point though (aren't they always?).

I have yet to hear the entire album, but I just had a chance to hear these two tracks. I definitely agree with what you said about Countdown. If there is a hit that I've heard so far, this song is the one.

I actually like Party. Maybe it's the fact that it has such a relaxed vocal approach by B. Of course, Andre 3000's smooth rap adds to the feel of the song. Overall, if this were the late 90s or early 2000s, this album would definitely do better on the charts. It's not bad, but it's not contemporary Pop.

Better quality video for Bohemian Rhapsody.
I wished that she did the opera part.

Re: The Official BEYONCE thread

I have a feeling the album will grow on me.

I LOVE "Best I never had" and "I was here"

Both just sound so big, and euphoric. As a big Dubstep, trance, Dance music fan I love music that just makes you feel larger than life.

It will be very interesting when this album releases. If they are smart they will push "Best I never had" hard and fast.

I loved the rumors that she was working with people like "Diplo" I'd love a more provocative Beyonce. But this album is provocative in its own way.

Re: The Official BEYONCE thread

She confirmed on stage that End of Time will be the next single.
