i heard that the reason why she lipsynced at the ball was because she was saving her voice for the super bowl. is this true?

with that said, she really ain't all that as a singer to begin with. she's very overrated as are most mainstream r&b singers are anyway like alicia keys and bitch ass neyo. i would have said that she doesn't look all that either where i could see why guys are all over her and her "bootylicious" body. never understood the hype about her ass, i mean as in her asscheeks for real, either. she never turned me on BUT then again, i'm gay so what do i know? maybe that's why i didn't see the hype with her and jennifer lopez bodies to begin with, pretending to be intended in them when i had none. oh well.

Her vocals are the best when it's a one song performance rather than a whole concert. Her voice is usually better on TV shows and award shows than in her own concerts. Like I said before I think she has issues with her breath control when she performs.

Sad thing is she may not be an amazing singer, but is more than good enough when she sings in her natural voice. She's treated like a joke and brings on a lot of it herself with her screwed up-ness... but she really got screwed over by her handlers and the studio turning her into a breathy pop tart.

Well I still like her other type of vocals. Her sound is unique and perfect for pop and everybody recognizes her voice the second they hear it.

She has natural vocal talent but she never would have been as successful doing powerhouse type of vocals.

But either way I think she gave up too easily on singing live and is now completely out of practice. Even if the vocals are not the main priority in her shows she still could have singed it partly live with a backup track rather than completely lipping it all every singe time. MATM in Times Square and VMA 2000 are good examples on doing that type of mixture.

Here's the press conference held earlier today. Around 12:30 is where she begins speaking on it. Looking back at the Inauguration performance, you can hear a slight echo and hear her actually singing along with the track (proving the previous guy's video as true.)

Britney fans like to point it out when other singers do it because she gets 90% of the critisicm despite it being a common practise in the business.

Again the difference is that she doesn't try to hide it while most others do.

And it's an exaggeration that she has never sung live (although she has now completely stopped doing it for few years now).

Comparing a Britney Spears concert and a ceremony with the national anthem is simply comparing apples and oranges.

Uh no it is not a common practice. No one does it as often as Britney.
Even singers who are not known for vocal ability like Rihanna, Katy, Miley Cyrus, etc sing LIVE for the most part.

It's more common than you think because most of them use pre-recorded vocals rather than CD tracks.

Celine Dion and Mariah Carey are good examples. 99,999% of people believe they have never done such a thing because they are powervocalists and only use pre-recorded vocals when miming.

Out of all the celebrity pop acts Britney is the one who lipsyncs the most. But sometimes people speak like she's the only one doing it.

Janet Jackson and Cher lipsync OFTEN and often just use the CD vocals just like Britney. Nobody seems to give a shit.

I'm not a 12 year old girl so I don't use terms like that.

At outdoor events in dodgy weather, it is standard practice for the music to be pre-recorded. The opening of the Sydney Olympics was totally pre-recorded including the National Anthem and yet there wasn't even a murmur in the press. Get over it, people. We no longer live in the age of failures being allowed or accepted so pre-recording is a must. Give the girl a break, FFS.
