The Official "Big Brother 12" Discussion Thread!

I doubt Russell will be on Big Brother, there are rumors going around that he will be playing for a third time on Survivor for either season 21 or 22 which is more believable than him showing up on a completely different show. Also seasons 21 and 22 of Survivor will be filmed while Big Brother is airing.

THE SUMMER REALITY HIT "BIG BROTHER" PREMIERES THURSDAY, JULY 8, 8:00-9:00 PM

"Big Brother" to Be Broadcast Three Times a Week - Wednesday, Thursday (Live Eviction Show) and Sunday from 8:00-9:00 PM

Julie Chen Returns as Host

The summer reality hit BIG BROTHER premieres Thursday, July 8 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. The new cast will be announced at a later date.

BIG BROTHER will be broadcast three nights per week: Wednesdays, (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT, beginning July 14); the LIVE eviction show hosted by Julie Chen on Thursdays (8:00-9:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT, beginning July 15) and Sundays (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT, beginning July 11).

Last summer's edition saw BIG BROTHER grow its audience both on-air and online for the CBS Television Network and CBS Interactive platforms.

Last year's edition of BIG BROTHER was one of only a handful of programs ever to post growth in its tenth season. Compared to the prior year's edition, BIG BROTHER was up +7% in viewers (7.08m from 6.60m), +4% in adults 18-49 (2.5/08 from 2.4/07) and +5% in adults 18-34 (2.0/07 from 1.9/06). Each of the three weekly broadcasts also posted summer-to-summer growth.

Online, BIG BROTHER was the last summer's #1 show on CBS.com and across the CBS Audience Network in all key metrics, with 25 percent more unique users and 94% more video streams than the prior summer.

BIG BROTHER follows a group of people living together in a house outfitted with dozens of cameras and microphones recording their every move 24 hours a day. Each week, the Houseguests vote someone out of the house. At the end, the last remaining Houseguests receives the grand prize of $500,000.

BIG BROTHER is executive produced by Emmy Award winner Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan in association with Endemol U.S.A.

The schedule change has been made official.

BB12 will air on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Evictions will be on Thursdays as usual, so the house schedule won't be screwed up. Having the POV episode on Wednesdays gives them more time to edit, which is a good thing. Also, every episode will air at 8PM/ET.

BB3 = Amy returned.

BB6 = Kaysar returned.

BB9 = James returned.

BB12 = ??

For BB3 and BB9, the houseguests voted on who to bring back. For BB6, America voted. I'm guessing this season will be like BB6 with America voting to bring back a pre-jury evictee.

I'm pretty happy that the Tuesday show was moved to Wednesday because I have night school on Tuesday and Thursdays now. I'm going to be dying in class wondering who is getting evicted while it's happening live and I'm stuck doing math problems.

I kinda like that they are moving it to Wednesdays. It gives people without the feeds the chance to catch up, while at the same time not having to wait as long for eviction night.

I'm going to try to get the feeds this time around since I won't be working much in July or August.

I was wondering when the new season would start, Cool! I'm really glad because I just got Showtime so I'll be able to watch "After Dark".

God I can't wait for this show. Watching this trashy shit play out and being privy (unlike the highly edited Survivor) to the particulars and nuances of everyone's game moves is a summer highlight for me.

I agree, I find myself either really liking certain players or hating them, and it's not based on a manipulated edit. I have been genuinely happy and sad to see certain people go. I also love that it is real time and playing out live rather than pre recorded so that way I can never be accidentally spoiled like I have been with Survivor and other reality shows.

I'm going to cry.

There's a new rumor (courtesy of James Rhine) that BB12 will be the final season of Big Brother.

^^That rumor gets trotted out every year, dear.

I know, I know. But this year it actually seems like a legit possibility. I was thinking maybe Julie Chen doesn't want to host Big Brother anymore since she has a baby and a new daytime talk show on the way. She's probably going to have her hands full next year with her baby getting older, etc. It would suck if Julie quit, but it would suck even more to have the show discontinued altogether.

I don't know if I believe it since it was SO popular last year in the ratings and online...it it keeps up this season it would be stupid to cancel it...as much as I love Chenbot...the show can go on without her

If American Idol can go on without Simon Cowell, I'm sure Big Brother can go on without Julie Chen.

I'm looking forward to the upcoming season. I've been a fan of the show since S2, and I think last summer signaled a change in the tone of the series: The producers and the houseguests have finally come to realize that being an atrocious person (Will, Mike Boogie, Dick) precludes you from being a good player. I hope BB12 continues the trend of deserving contestants (like Dan and Jordan) actually winning in the end.

CBS doesn't even know if they're gonna pick it up next season so I doubt some random mid-season elimination contestant from a few years ago does.

From TV Guide: When a new brood of boarders moves in for the show's 12th season, expect amped-up challenges. Says Executive Producer Allison Grodner, "We've got a lot of twists and turns planned."
