the official KAREN CARPENTER thread :)

Re: i am obsessed with karen carpenter

Huge fan of the Karen.. I cant hear the song "Sing" without it bringing a tear to my eye, it really brings me back to a fun part of my childhood. Also Christmas at my house is always filled the Carpenter songs, with my personal favorite being "Merry Christmas, Darling" But ya, all of their collection is still awesome even to this day!

Re: i am obsessed with karen carpenter

Tragic stories always haunt us, and her was one of those, incredible talented and incredibly doomed... I wonder if she ever has happy, being gifted most of the times is also a curse....

One of those stories that scared my youth was Gia Carangi, so beautiful but also so doomed...

i cant get enough of learning about her and her life. im even reading a book of articles about them, currently. her life was such a tragedy but it also brought to light the degree of seriousness to the illness for the rest of the world.

i think the same way. a lot of the most gifted people to have graced this earth ended in tragedy and i sometimes think their talents are too much of a burden, if that makes sense.

I always felt that the had the voice of an angel and I never got tired of listening to her.

The Carpenters' music was such a part of my teenage years...I have always loved Karen's voice. I still listen to their music and often become sad, when I recall her passing. I was inconsolable for some time, after hearing she had died. The world lost a truly gifted vocalist and they are so rare. She could sing as perfectly live, as she did on the recordings. Thank goodness for technology, so we do have her music still available to us.

One of the great female voices of the 20th Century.
