Re: Katy Perry?

"I Kissed a Girl" is quite possibly the most annoyingly stupid song to be released in a very long time. This and "Hey Ya". Both songs make me have suicidal thoughts.

Re: Katy Perry - One Of The Boys

I like her cd, she puts so much personality into the songs. "Ur so Gay" is my fav by far, so hilarious.

Re: Katy Perry - One Of The Boys

i am late as FUCK.

I had been hearing Kissed for weeks on the radio but had no idea who it was but i loved it instantly.

Now today i see its the number 1 song in country.

I wonder if she is a one hit wonder.

Oh i just checked and she she doesnt have a wikipedia.

You are nobody till you have a wikipedia lol still love the song though.

I just listenned to more of her on the tube and it seems she is a man hater no wonder she kissed a girl LOL

I am gonna do a male version and put it on youtube.

Re: Katy Perry - One Of The Boys

Supposedly its doing really well so it should hold the #1 spot again for next week.

A one hit wonder, who knows. Her music is different but ppl seem to like that now.

Re: Katy Perry - One Of The Boys

Oh wow i just listened to the album and its really good.

Kissed a girl still sounds like the biggest hit but lyrically she is deep with some songs.

Still Breathing almost made me shed a tear but its more because i can relate to the song on a personal level.

Whats her deal? is she a new artist or not.

Here she is performing, my fave song on the album live, but from 2006, whats going on?

She has a wikipedia. I actually know because Madonna mentioned in her interview how she loves her song "Ur so gay"...and I instantly liked her after hearing a few songs.

No, she's not a new artist. She had one album already and she went by the name Katy hudson.

Even though she's an absolute newcomer, she has got a WIkipedia. I mean there's even a JUB article over there. Do you agree with the criticism on the Wikipedia page who says she's homophobic?

For I Kissed A Girl:
Though The Star, of Canada, describes it as "a lesbian-friendly tune,"[13] whether anti-gay bias fuels negative reactions to the song or the song itself appears to divide critics. While Slant and other critics[14][15] question Perry's homophobia, especially given her single "Ur So Gay", which makes "I Kissed a Girl" seem like "it's a classic example of the “Guys kissing is gross, girls kissing is hot' line of thought"[16] The Star Ledger quotes a listener who proposes that negative reactions to the song are due to homophobia, saying that it would not draw disapproval if sung by a male artist, and who compares the level of explicitness in the lyrics with other songs on the radio such as rap lyrics.[2] MomLogic.com writer Vuv-A-Licious agrees, asking, "'What's the big deal?'...When this tune is playing and my son and daughter are dancing, I will be trying to dance along, or trying to acknowledge that they may one day dance to the beat of a different drummer than me."[17]

For Ur So Gay:
Many critics[5], however, conclude the song is homophobic. Ugo.com says the song settles for "catchphrase-homophobia"[6] while AllMusic describes the lyrics as "gay-baiting"[7]. The New Gay points out that her lead singles, "Ur So Gay" and "I Kissed a Girl", together equal "a classic example of the “Guys kissing is gross, girls kissing is hot' line of thought," (sexism/heterosexism) and says, "it’s time to call bullshit on Katy Perry," and the, "tired gay stereotypes," she uses in the lyrics of "Ur So Gay".[8] Slant Magazine describes her use of the term gay as "casually derogatory"[9] while Glitterati Gossip describes its use as "schoolyard homophobia"[10].

Re: Katy Perry - One Of The Boys

Homophobia's fine if it's got a good beat and you can dance to it. ..|

As for the tattoo, enh, you may want to wait until the next album, at least. Imagine having an Eiffel 65 tattoo.

Re: Katy Perry?

yes. i agree with the stupid part but i dont see how it is offensive. she is obviusly referring to a metrosexual and i think there is nothing wrong with that. Now if she was making fun of a homosexual person it would be wrong.

Re: Katy Perry?

Anyone youtube the spoof "i kissed a boy"? It gets really dirty by the end.

Re: Katy Perry?

umm does anyone else find her song "UR so Gay" very stupid and slightly offensive?

Nah, not offensive. Just stupid. "I Kissed a Girl" is lame too...

I prefer "Use Your Love" (it's kind of a cover of "I Don't Wanna Lose Your Love" by The Outfield, except with altered lyrics). She owns that shit!

Re: Katy Perry?

Oh, I simply love her. Her entire cd is candy for my ears. My favorites off of that album are "One of the Boys" and "Waking Up in Vegas". Can't wait to see what else she comes out with.

i guess i am just so sick and tired of saying something/somone is "so gay"

Re: Katy Perry?

KATY PERRY IS AMAZING.
I fuckin love her and she's the only girl I'd get with, she's hot as hell.
"Hot N Cold" is killer!

Re: Katy Perry - One Of The Boys

I just read some early Grammy predictions an they say she could get a few noniations including Best New Artist but as to whether she is deserving they had this to say,

Grammy deserving: Not quite. Perry's debut is engineered to get in your head and stay there, and there are times this overly-produced album can wear you down. She'll begrudgingly win a smile on "Ur So Gay," a long overdue take-down of boys who think its acceptable to wear a scarf when snow isn't on the ground (it's not, obviously), but the oh-so-clever bluntness of the album is borderline shtick, and Perry misfires badly with the love-as-transaction rocker of "If You Can Afford Me."
