The concept of this video kind of reminds me of Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful." It's an okay song.

I don't remember if Alejandro does show a gay kiss, but the entire video is supposed to be dedicated to the gays, which I think is pretty cool too.
As for Fireworks, I actually like the video. To be honest, I didn't realize what the song was saying until watching it so not bad.

I really like the song and think she did a great job with the video. It may not be too original but it has a hell of a lot more meaning than the majority of pop videos out there right now.
I think she has a better voice than Gaga.

Ok, maybe i should have phrased that better. I like Perry's voice better than Gaga's. Gaga obviously performed better in the song that you posted than Katy did. But to be honest I don't look up live performance's by either of these artists and don't particularly care how good they are live because I highly doubt I'll ever see them.
I like Gaga's voice better in her catchy songs, I find her voice grows tiresome quickly in her slower songs. But that's just my personal taste.
And what the hell is up with her hair in that video!? It looks terrible.

The problem with saying "I don't care about the live performance cause I don't wanna see them live I like the recorded or video best."
Hearing an artist live is a really good test of their vocals and talent. If they sound good on the CD and sound like a cat getting raped by a chalkboard live, than they probably don't sing too well. But they look pretty live at least. And that's what counts for some.
That video does have a good message I do like that. I like it better than "CALIFURNIA GUHURLS" and "TEENAGE WETDREAM". Those just suck. And yeah. God knows what the hell Katy Stuffs in her Bra or has in her breasts. SHOOTING FIREWORKS FROM BREASTS. That sounds like an anime thing.

For me, I like Katy Perry's new album. But if I'm being honest, I get the feeling that she doesn't really sing, all she does is talk with conviction. Seriously. I don't know if that's the kind of performer she is, but I don't see her "singing" a lot when she performs. It's just saying a sentence with some attitude.
Like, "you - make - me - feel - like - i'm - living - a - teenage - dream" I don't think she sings it, she just says it with conviction.
However, for some reason I like some of her songs more than GaGa. Then again I don't know why this thread got to GaGa vs Katy... I just think Katy's songs are more easy going and fun hence (for me) more enjoyable.

Does Katy Perry even have a gay fan base in the first place? Ever since her two singles "Your'e so gay" and "I kissed a girl", looks like almost all the gay websites/blogs etc all hate on her. I never really give much thought about her music or her videos.
Lady Gaga, on the other hand, really does have a huge gay fanbase. My cousin went to her tour and during an encore session, the screen says "CLAP IF YOU ARE GAY" on the stage and almost 90 percent of the audiences cheered. And she saw A LOT OF GUYS. (Most likely all gay.)
Not to mention Gaga is a huge gay supporter. Not sure about Katy though. All I remember about her was that she tweeted a picture making fun of a transgendered woman.
Ugh. But then she also tweeted that she's glad Prop 8 was overturned.

"Ur So Gay" went way beneath the radar. I was one of the few who heard it the first time, and...well, I won't say I was offended, but I can't say I was charmed, either.
Then came "I Kissed a Girl". And dear LORD, was that everywhere. Over on the gay teen site, every other thread was about it, and every other member quoted it for their signature line. Then they got the album, heard "Ur So Gay"...and thought it was great. I think one or two found the song "kinda offensive", but the rest found it a funny "take" on gay stereotypes.
How big was this? I tried to convince not one but TWO members not to get a Katy Perry tattoo...at least until the second album came out.
