GQ's The Least Influential People of 2012

That cheerleading outfit isn't making you look any younger, Madge. It's time for you to stop putting out aggressively bland comeback albums and make room for Ke$ha and Katy and the other 800 female artists out there who change outfits every five minutes to distract people from their terrible singing.

:##: So disrespectful.

Like I've said before -- critics have been declaring that Madonna is "over"/irrelevant/washed-up/past her sell-by date since 1992. It's gotten to be quite amusing as the years have progressed.

Meanwhile, she's still around twenty years later (and not only still around, but still challenging herself artistically, still selling out stadiums around the world, still racking up #1s)... how many of them can say the same?

"She" hasn't made a "decent" album since Music

This is purely opinion though and musical taste varies from one person to another so this is irrelevant. I actually don't know why everyone starting PMS-ing over Hard Candy. I actually like many tracks from that album and I'm not even her biggest fan.

So some people will love her new work some will hate it so there's no 'quality' to talk of. People who talk like that remind me of food critics. It's like, seriously, WHO CARES? Some people like to eat fish and chips, some people prefer chicken, some prefer greens, not everyone has to like calamari and champagne. I don't get people's obsession with being like some fucking quality police and literally going into other people's homes and telling them what's good and what isn't and what they should or shouldn't be listening to. And at the same time being basically so anti mainstream and telling anyone who likes mainstream stuff that their taste in music is horrible and they "don't know" what real music is.

It's pointless. People have a choice when it comes to musical preference. Get the fuck over it. Clearly enough people like Madonna's recent work for her to still be a (very) profitable touring act. And her last 5 CDs have all gone straight to #1.

Tough Shit.

Peace.

Why is it always about numbers and not quality?

"She" hasn't made a "decent" album since Music and not that I think her music is truly good or something to take seriously but it seems those numbers were/are her only prority, no artistry at all, pure narcissism.

You may have noticed that the first thing I mentioned was that she "still challenges herself artistically." Which, to me, is the most important thing. But, given that art is subjective and a matter of personal tastes, the more tangible example of her relevance are the numbers -- hence the reason I cited album sales and ticket sales.

She continues to set records in those areas, so obviously a rather large amount of people are still interested in her. Hence relevancy.

And if you don't think she's interested in artistry -- check out album cuts like "Gang Bang," or her elaborately designed & choreographed stage show.

I'm not someone who thinks Madonna shits gold, but -- for the life of me -- I can't figure out how anyone could dismiss all of that.

How long before Lady Caca starts incorporating a walker into her "act"?

Well she is already used Madonnas old song and now her old concert stage....I wonder what else she is going to steal.[-X

I think the GQ Madonna entry above is more insulting to Katy, Kesha and the 800 female artists than Madonna.
As for Madonna, well, does she even fucking care about GQ? Good or bad, they are still talking about M.

A League Of Their Own is on TV right now. Such a great movie and Madonna was fantastic in it.
"This Used To Be My Playground" is my favorite of M.'s ballads. It's wistful, sweeping, nostalgic, and simply gorgeous. :)

^ I don't have a blu-ray player yet, but I may have to get one just for the MDNA concert. :gogirl:

This is for "Elton" who's a regular here on the Madonna thread.

Wow. Madonna beat out the Boss! Comfortably at that!

No idea who Roger Walters is.

Lady Gaga, 6th place. Surprising actually. I thought she'd be higher up.

Van Halen still tours?

FanofFiction are you so out of touch that you actually posted that response. It sure gives no credibility to anything you post that's music related.
