Re: Madonna up for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Part of what annoys me about posts like this is that people get offended and think we are somehow insulting artists like Madonna by saying she shouldn't be included. Madonna is well deserving of countless recognitions. I just don't feel that this is one of them.

Re: Madonna up for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

What the hell is the "Rock and Roll" era?

It's basically popular music from 1955 and on. The music industry changed in 1955 because of rock music, so that was the beginning of the "Rock & Roll" era. It's called that because that's what started music as we know it today. But music's grown and changed so much, you don't necessarily have to be a rock artist to be considered a artist in the 'rock and roll' era. Hence why a lot of pop and R&B artists are inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

So Madonna (or Micheal, or Prince) may not be labeled as 'rock artists' but they've made a huge impact on music since 1955 (the rock era). So they're not referring to the rock & roll genre. They're referring to the name of the era.

I could understand why people would misunderstand this. I did at first, when I saw the list of people who have been inducted, but then I read an article in Billboard magazine about the rock era, and it completely made sense after that.

I Totally Agree With You 100% on this, But Prince Is A Rock Artist! And A Funk Artist, And An R&B Artist, and A Dance Music Artist, Prince Is Everything Rolled Into One!

True, but since he's not strictly a rock artist, or an R&B artist etc. he usually just gets labeled 'pop'.

This page clears up the misconceptions of the R&R Hall of Fame (3rd & 4th paragraph) http://www.futurerockhall.com/The_Rap_Question.php

Re: The New Madonna Confessions Phone Line RUN BY ME

I confess. Colonel Mustard didn't kill him, I did.

Re: Bittersweet news about the upcoming Madonna album

I would be definitively relieved if she gave up the stupid idea to work with Timbaland and Timberlake.A R&b album would be the biggest mistake of all her career. She should leave that crappy urban music to the others talentless american singers and continue to do what she does the best : pop and dance music:gogirl:.

Re: Bittersweet news about the upcoming Madonna album

The Pharrell collaboration isn't one of my faves and although I've been a Madonna fan for 24 years now, I wouldn't mind waiting until next summer if that's when Madonna felt it was ready to go.

And she's cool to work with whomever she wants to if you ask me.

She's freakin' Madonna for crying out loud.

Re: Bittersweet news about the upcoming Madonna album

I'm not surprised. That "The Beat Goes On" song was just inane.

The lyrics were horrible and the chorus was annoying. And it had the same title as a play-out song by Sonny and Cher.

I agree that Britney Spears should have waited longer too.. not only was SHE not ready but that album is full of "popsicle pop." Songs that are cool and sweet at first but quickly melt into a syrupy mess.

Re: Bittersweet news about the upcoming Madonna album

I heard Candy Shop and i wouldnt even call it filler, i dont know what that was. I couldnt even get through all of it.

Anyways why is she she even releasing another album already, i mean Confessions was so stellar, i am still jamming to that record.

Money has to be made but you cannot dish out crap to people just because die hard fans will shell out the buck.

Re: Bittersweet news about the upcoming Madonna album

I haven't even bothered to search for this song, "Candy Shop" I've heard iffy things about. Guess I'm not that big of a Lady M fan as I thought I was.

Then again, I still haven't even seen the video for "Jump" :)

Madonna "Take A Bow" Concert

"Take A Bow" is Madonna's most successful single but she hasn't shown the song much love  It hasn't been performed on any of her past three tours.

Madonna's gonna be 50 this upcoming summer so she's surely got it in her to do two more world tours (?)

Anybody think it's a remote possibility that "Bow," if not added to the songlist of the next tour, perhaps will close out her final one?

Cher and Tina Turner did their farewell tours when they turned 60. Maybe Lady M will do her final world tour in about a decade and make this her encore song? (crossing my fingers). It'd be a great tribute to such a gorgeous little gem of a song that's been ignored over the past dozen years.

Re: Madonna "Take A Bow" Concert

I Think Take A Bow Should Of Been Performed Every tour after its incarnation on Bedtime Stories, Its A Great Song To Close The Show With, Her Vocals Really SHine On Take A Bow!

Re: Madonna "Take A Bow" Concert

"Take a bow" is not Madonna's most successful single."Hung up " is her biggest selling song.It reached number one in 45 countries and spent 15 consecutive weeks at number one on the United World Chart.
I don't care "take a bow" hasn't been performed on her past tours. It's not one of my favourite Madonna's songs.

Re: Madonna "Take A Bow" Concert

I remember the performance you added... it was in Italy, in Sanremo. (not really live, but it's ok). It was a big addition to that boring show

Re: Madonna "Take A Bow" Concert

i wish she'd bloody well tour australia!

Re: Madonna "Take A Bow" Concert

C'mon Madonna... show "Take A Bow" the love it deserves!

Possibly the most perfect song of her career... so far!!!:=D:

Re: Madonna "Take A Bow" Concert

I agree, Take A Bow is a perfect song. I've never seen Madge live in concert but i'd assume a few slow songs along with her more energetic numbers would be a perfect mix. Then again, she's got so much material old and new to work in, it must be hard getting the right balance.
