I wouldn't have any problems with this line of thinking if people just admitted it's all wishful thinking, but instead they keep convincing themselves otherwise by claiming "you can just see he loves the cock" or "Yes, he's married but there have been many gay men who were forced to marry for their career" or other stupid reasoning.

Madonna's MILES AWAY SINGLE: Why It Flopped

Seriously.. 4 minutes was a good song and a big hit... but cummon Give It 2 Me as the second single? What was Warner thinking? If Beat Goes On (Feat Kanye West was the second single.. that would've done much better as the second single.. But I can see why Madonna and WB chose not to use Beat goes on as the second nor third single.

If she had.. people would say Madonna is fake and criticize her for using two duets in a row and say how she can't make hits on her own... or some other bullshit like that. (You see where this is going.)

So she chose Give It 2 Me in hopes that a solo single would be a big hit and then reach for Beat Goes On. Alas... The second single flopped and now Miles Away hasn't TOUCHED the billboard hot 100. It's hit #1 on the dance chart though but still. Miles away was not given a video and given a CRAPPY cover for the single and 12 inch single. I believe that Hard Candy was given VERY bad promotion and alot of it was laziness from WB AND Madonna... shame shame. I agree alot of this album can be seen as crap compared to other masterpieces of hers.

But most people that buy cds today that are played in the top 40 are kids and young adults that don't know real music such as Fleetwood Mac, Journey, Carpenters, and other old bands and these kids probably don't know what a turntable is. CD quality SUCKS. (Go buy Alisha Key's New album on vinyl AND cd which i own both.. BIG DIFFERENCE on vinyl so clear and beautiful.) Hard Candy would've REALLY appealed to the younger crowd and that was shown with 4 Minutes! But while she was on tour everyone forgot about Give It 2 Me. Miles Away is a good song but a horrible choice for next single. I'm just wondering why Beat goes on wasn't chosen for second single.. it would've made alot of success and kept Hard Candy at a higher position in the Billboard 200 Album Charts.

All it comes down to: promotion. All the effort was put into the lead single and that only exploded due to being a hit on the radio.

Otherwise, Madonna only focused on the S&S Tour. The album took a backseat. Miles Away wasn't pushed by her record label...whatever stations wanted to play it, played it.

It's a shame to let another album from the world's biggest diva to go down the shit hole. They did the same thing to American Life... her best album and political statement yet.

Yeah, I have just rediscovered the wonders of American Life, when it suddenly played on my itunes shuffle. I do agree with Beat Goes On for the 3rd, but if she was going for a low key song then I really thought she should've considered "devil wouldn't recognize you;" I consider it one of gems of the album.

BTW, is it just me or does anyone like the leaked beat goes on a bit better?

If it doesn't get radio play, it's most likely not going to do well. "4 Minutes" was the only 'radio friendly' single. The others...meh.

I liked it better. But the album version is ok. I am just not a fan of West Kenya, and his part really prevented it from being a really good song.

Count me as one who did not like American Life. Love Profusion was the best song on the album. I liked Hollywood, American Life, and Die Another Day when it came out, but reach for the skip button whenever they come on.
