Why can't people let shit go?
I read some place a long time ago that the a celebrity's shelf life is 5 years. I totally believe that. Jlo? But Madonna goes on. She turned 40 during Ray of light. She had been famous since she was 26 when Like a virgin came out. She has a nice large fan base that will follow her. She's really not ground breaking anymore or dare I say relevant. But she's doing ok for 51 in a business that is for teens. Her tours are big money makers still. American life was a good CD. I didn't like it at the time but now it's one of my favorites. I think she's best with songs like Celebration and missed the mark with Revolver. Nothing has destroyed her career. The music industry has also changed. You have to take that into consideration. Who really listens to the radio anyway? People mainly listen to satellite or their ipods. I miss those old days though. Remember when an artist would put out four singles and four videos? It would usually be 3 faster songs and one ballad. Except Mariah, she did 3 slow songs and one fast. Nothing is as it was. There are so many more choices now. I use to have to wait for a song I liked to come out for what seemed like forever. Now I go to Itunes and there it is and within a minute I own it. You have to take so much into consideration that would contribute to your perceived down fall of Madonna.
Oh,how I miss those days!!..When the legends were respected and even they would have two to three real singles that were promoted off one CD...This is why I miss the 90's!!..
Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Cyndi Lauper, Boy George, Prince, Wham (George Michael), Paula Abdul, Phil Collins, etc.
