Re: WORLD PREMIERE: "I Stay In Love," Mariah Carey

decent song with not so good video..

this was her chance to do another up tempo song like "migrate" or "im that chick". however since i think these songs have already charted i guess it wouldnt make much sense to release them. she should finish this album with "for the record" or "love story". i think that "love story" is a good song and it would probably do alright, but i would personally like to see "for the record" as the next single because it sounds like the "dont forget about us" of e=mc^2 and in some ways she would be taking a chance with it. its not like she really has anything to lose, i never heard "ill be lovin u long time" on the radio once.

Re: WORLD PREMIERE: "I Stay In Love," Mariah Carey

Good! Hopefully, if she knows what's best for her, she'll retire after this album.

Re: WORLD PREMIERE: "I Stay In Love," Mariah Carey

For a typical Mariah video, featuring very revealing outfits, curly long hair, rolling around with an exotic male model, this is not bad at all :) I love the song, but I dont think any track will save the album at this point.

Re: WORLD PREMIERE: "I Stay In Love," Mariah Carey

I thought I'll be lovin' you long time was the best song on the album and the most up tempo and strikingly different, but I knew it wouldn't catch on too big because it wasn't generic enough. I really don't consider Migrate up tempo, but I'm That Chick sort of is. But the latter wouldn't have been a hit by a long shot. Love Story is probably the most dull song on the whole album and I doubt it would've been a hit either, which is probably why it was skipped over twice by Lovin you long time and I Stay in Love as a single. (Mariah had been saying she wanted to release Love Story as a single for a while). For the Record might work, but it's not as good as Don't forget about us. Really, I don't know what the next single should be. Migrate would probably be the best for radio play. Maybe even Cruise Control could be a surprise hit. Or Side Effects. But she should steer clear of releasing Love Story and I'm that Chick. She shouldn't have released Bye Bye either. Lovin you long time would have been an awesome second or even first single to get people going instead of a slow, semi-depressing song like Bye Bye.

I think Cruise Control or Side Effects or even Im That Chick would of brought some of the momentum back to the album...

I agree with you that "ill be lovin u long time" was the best song on the album, i hate how it was not accepted by radio, but it makes sense. I don't think that "for the record" is as good or would do as good as "dont forget about us" either, i was just kind of comparing it as the e=mc^2 equivalent. Please, I hope none of her songs with featured rappers will be singles, but if she has to, then i hope its migrate thats the only one i can tolerate lol. Personally i didnt care for "bye bye", i thought it was corny, but at the same time i thought it was the right single. and when i think about it, the video for "bye bye" is actually a lot worse than "i stay in love".

i guess she should just move onto the next project now to pull out a few more hits before poppin babies. im not saying that this album was a flop, well i guess it is if you consider charmbracelet a flop since i dont think its even sold as much as that, but i hope she does something more similar to teom.

Re: WORLD PREMIERE: "I Stay In Love," Mariah Carey

This album tanked! I miss old Mariah.

Isn't every Mariah video lately just her lying down half naked warbling another ditty?

*****goes back to listening Daydream & Music Box*****

Re: "Touch My Pussy" - Mariah Carey DISSED!

As if such a song needs to be dissed...it does that on it's own. lol

Re: WORLD PREMIERE: "I Stay In Love," Mariah Carey

The album didn't tank. It's already over the double platinum mark and it sold 463,000 copies in it's first week, which was her biggest debut ever. It's just that you don't hear her songs on the radio all day long like Rihanna and Justin Timberlake. E=MC2 wasn't as big as her last album, but that was lightening in a bottle.

Um...and when did it become double platinum? You mean Worldwide, right? Cause its barely sold what, 1.2 million copies in the U.S.?

Re: WORLD PREMIERE: "I Stay In Love," Mariah Carey

Madonna's "Hard Candy" hasn't had big numbers in the U.S. but Has sold almost 4 million copies worldwide. Getting back to the topic at hand, Mariah should've released "I'm that Chick" in stead of this tired song. Did you guys know she let her husband direct this video. Honestly I couldn't even sit through the whole thing. I loved her performance of "I'm that Chick" in the Fashion Rock's concert. Someone should find her clip and post it.

Re: WORLD PREMIERE: "I Stay In Love," Mariah Carey

Yeah i really thought this was about to be the next single when she started doing all these performances & especially by adding the new intro (which is probably better than the rest of the song)..

FASHION ROCKS Performance

CANADIAN IDOL Performance

Its kinda corny how shes comin out of a box though lol

Seriously. If I remember correctly, Mariah never meant for Touch My Body to be a serious song in the first place and the video was supposed to accent that concept, so...

Re: WORLD PREMIERE: "I Stay In Love," Mariah Carey

"I'm That Chick" should have never even been considered for a single. It's only audience is gay men. Top 40 would've panned it quickly. Just like "Love Story." People think that song would've revived this album. Um, no, it would make it so radio would NEVER want to play another Mariah song again. That's the worst song on the album, IMO.

Re: WORLD PREMIERE: "I Stay In Love," Mariah Carey

All of her songs sound the same - borrriiinggggg

She looks great, but hopefully she goes in a different direction her next album. The JD thing is a little tired for me.

AND THE TRUTH IS SPOKEN!!! :=D:

Re: WORLD PREMIERE: "I Stay In Love," Mariah Carey

Am I the only guy that liked both "Hard Candy" and "E =mc2".... I loved both albums. I actually think this last release was one of Mariah's best - the label just made some bad choices for singles. I would have put out "Side Effects" after "Touch My Body" and then "I Stay In Love". I would have also hired some professional music video directors to infuse some freshness and create some buzz with her videos. In the music business today, a creative video goes a long way to ensuring a hit single. Her last couple of videos have kinda been lacking in my opinion.

Additionally, I think Madonna and Mariah have done well this year - at least they've had top 10 singles. Poor Janet Jackson has been trying so hard and has not had a top 10 single since 2001. She is the one that needs some serious help. I love Janet but "Discipline" was not her best work.

Re: WORLD PREMIERE: "I Stay In Love," Mariah Carey

onn no fuck that!

whatever you want to say about mariah, she is far from boring. she is trendsetter. Without mariah you wouldn't have all you're little poptart singers dueting with rappers. Mariah was a pioneer in this field. (I didn't say she was the first, but she made it popular, so don't hound me about Blondie from back in the day)

and honestly, she has one of the best voices in music, ever!

She WAS a trendsetter. She HAD one of the best voices. She had a lot of potential, wich she ruined.

Re: WORLD PREMIERE: "I Stay In Love," Mariah Carey

She WAS a trendsetter. She HAD one of the best voices. She had a lot of potential, wich she ruined.

And if you look at the Top 20 hit artists right now, her voice still trumps 98% of them. She's still got potential. Very few artists can say they can make a hit 20 years into their career and sell millions.
