It does not seem like it. Her voice seems to be getting worse as she gets older and I'm wondering if that's the reason (or one of the reasons) that she has not been having consistent live performances. Apparently, she's had nodules since she was a kid.

As far as the track, it's okay. I was not blown away by it. Maybe I'll find myself with it on replay later.

Music Box is awesome! Every single song is amazing! And I do think that 'I Wish You Well' is the best song on E=MC2 but I also think that was a pretty decent album.

Her best albums were her debut up thru Butterfly. Butterfly is her best album imo.

I agree. It's her most consistent and cohesive album. There may some a couple of songs in other albums superior in terms of artistry but all of her albums are very inconsistent within themselves except for this one. PLUS her writing skills were great on this album and her voice was in good shape too...and she hadn't turned slut yet...sexier and showing more skin but definately not sluttish.

Yep, Charmbracelet is quite down there. The best thing about Glitter was her voice, wich was in pretty damn good shape. Other than that...

What's everybody's fascination w/ Butterfly? In my time listening to Mariah, this is the album that I've had the least attraction to.

I thought Butterfly was a mediocre ballad, My All & Honey were the only good tracks. With the exception of Close My Eyes & Outside, I've listened to all of the tracks, & aside from My All & Honey, none were good. Too R&Bish, & too boring!

Breakdown is just a mess. & Babydoll is weird too!

But, I guess to each their own. I mean, before we get into what M.C.'s best album is, we have to agree on what merits a good M.C. song! The vocals? The lyrics? The beat?

I think Mariah does not get enough credit for her song writing and ability to arrange a great song. She's written some amazing songs. I mean, could Rihanna or Britney or one of them write a song like 'Hero', 'One Sweet Day', 'If It's Over' (with Carole King), 'Can't Let Go' or one of my recent favorites 'I Wish You Well'? Could they take a song and re-arrange it like she did with 'Bringin on the Heartbreak' or most of the 'Glitter' album?

Anyway, I don't know why I love 'Butterfly' so much. First, it's a flawless vocal. And the run towards the end has got to be one of the hardest runs to pull off. But I love the meaning behind the song. She wrote it because it was what she had hoped Tommy would say to her about the divorce. It's just an amazingly beautiful yet heartbreaking song.

Obviously I couldn't have grown up w/ old school Mariah, seeing as I was born in the year that her first album was released.

Anyone who says Music Box is a terrible album really SHOULD NOT be talking about which of her albums are good and bad. How that even deserved a comparison to Britney is beyond me. Her voice was in spectacular condition. Now compared to the previous two, it wasn't the better of the 3, but I'm appalled anyone would ever discredit what a great record Music Box is.
Also, the Charmbracelet album lyrically and production wise was great. Vocally, eh. But i still listen to it occasionally.

I really really love daydream and maybe her debut because of someday. Butterfly had really good mellow tracks. I dont think she could ever be that artist she was when vison of love and dreamlover came out. I mean she will always be a great artist but you remebered her the most from her earlier career than now. I think mimi was the best recent album she has come out with.

Crazy little thing called "opinion". People are allowed to think any and all of Mariah's albums are brilliant or terrible. That's their call. You may not agree with them, but that just makes your opinion different from theirs. There's no entrance requirement to discuss which albums you think are good or bad.

None and all of the above. Like all songs, MC's songs come as a package. What matters is how everything works in tandem. I've heard some songs with good beats, great lyrics, and ideal performances...that do nothing for me. And I've heard some songs where the beats are average, the lyrics are pretty inane, and the performance nothing to speak of...and I crank the volume every time it comes on.

That was the word I was looking for! MELLOW. Butterfly was too MELLOW for me!

Daydream is her best album, hands down. Her debut is a close second.

<3 the Mariah hand thing. lol.

It's so weird to me that she had some great performances during the Emancipation era and the Tampa Concert on t he Adventures Of Mimi Tour (the 2nd date of the tour) her voice sounded almost flawless (but the further into the concert, it deteriorated) but she didn't have very many this last album.
I agree with 'HeyHeyYouYou,' she just doesn't have to prove herself anymore. No one seems to care that Celine pre-records and lipsynchs every night, so I think people should move on from Mariah's lack of live skills these days. She DOES do a helluva half live half lipsank "I Stay In Love" though!!

I disagree. I think if she is going to keep releasing albums that she wants us to buy then she is going to have to prove that she can sing in them, who wants to buy a CD full of duff notes just because the artist used to be able to sing well?
