#1? MAYBE, it's nothing to be proud of. She's reaching way into the past for easy publicity by going after an irrelevant rapper. This track may do well but it's not her most shining moment, it sounds like an instrumental from TI's first cd.

Something is wrong when every artist from NY to Cali is copying the south's generic sound.

Mariah Carey has released a brand new single for the summer of 2009, "Obsessed." It was written and produced by Mariah, The-Dream and Tricky Stewart and is the first single from her forthcoming Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel, which is due in stores on August 25 and is Mariah's 12th studio album and the much anticipated follow-up to her platinum-selling E=MC² and her worldwide 10 million selling The Emancipation Of Mimi. It's hard to find an artist with Carey's track record who seems to deliver consistently over their entire career. Some things just seem to get better with time and I for one have always been as much a fan of MC's lower vocal register as her signature high end power. There's no doubt that Mariah can sing like no one else, but sometimes less is best, as is the case on this hypnotic track that is sure to keep MC fans totally "Obsessed!" And is it just me or is there a slim chance that MC is sending a message to a certain someone? BET ON IT!

Some people fail to realize that some artist dont wanna stay the same all the time. People are always asking for the "90's" Mariah which is impossible. The music industry has changed BIG TIME and you have to move with it. People had their doubts about "Touch My Body" but it went to #1 within a few days.

I really like it. I don't think the vocals are all the impressive but the lyrics make the song for me. I think the lyrics are some of her best.

It's not that I want the 90s Mariah back, I LOVE her hip-hop. Breakdown was BRILLIANT, one of the best r&b tracks of the decade. Honey was great. A lotta people slept on Rooftop, I Still Believe Damizza Remix and Cry Baby but I thought they were phenomenal. This track just isn't great except for a few clever lines about her being a corporation and a conference call.

The main problem is she's jumping on the southern sound bandwagon years after everyone else already did. Not a good luck.

Uhh, I really wish Mariah would start singing songs with some soul and melody like she did back in the day such as Hero, Visions of Love, and Emotions. This song sounds like every other song out these days. It's not very original.

I don't think she's "trying" to be hip. She's just being her & showing that she has a sense of humor of some sort. People always say that she's trying to be "black" which she is, & sing hip hop which she sings. Like I said you have to change it up sometimes and try new things. I mean everybody isn't gonna like it.

Boring and bland. She is boring and bland. She keeps making the same safe music over and over. It would be nice to see her take a chance. This song sounds like an unfinished demo. Everything about this from the overworked photo shopped picture to the auto tune has been done before. Crazy Carey needs to learn some new tricks.

Mariah Carey's hotly anticipated new single 'Obsessed' has literally (literally) just premiered on Chicago's B96 radio station...and it's not good news (IMO).

The Tricky Stewart produced and (The) Dream penned cut sees Mariah sing - vocoder effect en toe- over a much more Urban sounding beat - in comparison to the single offerings from her last effort 'E=MC2'. Getting the 'good' out of the way first; the record is a laced with catchy hooks that should ensure it be a fixture on the radio.

The bad? Basically everything else! For an artist who is oft labelled 'The Voice', this isn't a good look - at all. For IMO any mediocre R&B chick could have churned out the very same track - to much less fanfare. The overly-processed and cooked-up sound of Mariah's voice via the vocoder also doesn't do the 39 year old any favours in the forever-raging debate about the state of her voice. Summed up, Mariah dropped the ball with this one. I'll probably become "Lamb Stew" for this, but oh well...LOL.

She could fart on a cd. And you super fans would call it the new sound of music. She hasnt done anything ground breaking in years. She makes hip hop lite music for soccer moms and drag queens.
The biggest sin you can commit in pop music is playing it safe. And this is a sin she commits over and over. Cant wait for the video, you know face posed to the left, butterfly rings, wind machine in weave etc etc etc.
