Mariah's "Obsessed" Enters Top 10

Finally, after spending 4 weeks stuck at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100, Mariah's lead single from her upcoming September 29th album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel, finally cracks the Top 10 this week landing at #7, making it Mariah's 27th Top Ten Hit.

And people said it was a flop. Haters.

Maybe when the album comes out, one of the other songs on the album might gain some popularity and be released as a single (h.a.t.e.u.?) and then both IWTKWLI and the new single will have some success.

I previewed the album and it sounds soo boring, just like her personalty. We Belong Together and possibly 3 other forgetable songs by Mariah Carey are the only songs I like from her this decade. Her 90s music was so much better, but her album could be a lot worse. Just not my taste. Bland and uninspired sounding.

When I saw this, it reminded me of Rainbow...her only other album to feature interludes. What are you guys looking forward to hearing the most? For some reason, I'm thinking "Angels Cry" will be great, but I wanna hear the full version of "H.A.T.E.U." She better release that song as her third single 'cuz I bet a lot of people out there can relate to the lyrics...I definitely can...at least what I've heard from the preview.

I guess my top 5 most anticipated are I Want To Know What Love Is, Ribbon, H.A.T.E.U., Candy Bling & It's A Wrap or Languishing (interlude).

Through the Rain is my favorite Mariah Carey song. It's very powerful and if you are going through tough times, this is the song for you.

I really resent the way she sings that song. I feel like if she'd actually sung the song instead of whispering nearly all of it, I'd love it. Even with that I still found the video pretty powerful.

So yeah, thumbs down. Love the content, hate the delivery.

ANYWAYS

I've had her "Open Arms" cover at Madison Square Garden on repeat lately. Even though it's probably oversung like most everything else in her heyday (not that I'm complaining--that's why I like her), I feel like her cover is still pretty emotive. This and her version of "Without You" just own me.

She did a cover of John Cage's "4'33" and that was her best work ever. Best imaginable.

ahaha! aww, lame. I just youtubed to check... if she did at a concert, the fans would probably like, "WTF? BOOO!" Just wish she actually did it for the laughs... a prank.

Anyway my fave is Touch My Body. YES

She sounded good, but not great. She did this 100% live at her Vegas show and sounded 1000% better than this. So at list I know she can do it live, but this time, not so much...

No way! Her 2008 I Stay in Love Performances are way better. This is a good song but doubt it will be her next #1 if Bye Bye and I Stay in Love didn't go #1 then this surely will not.

I have to say I'm surprised at that performance. I didn't think she could pull it off live. I'm not sure about a few notes but it was, at least, almost 100% live...considering how critical I am of her live performances in the past 10 years, this says a lot. Not bad at all.
