Yeah I would be real interested in hearing who he is talking about. you are so true, i wouldnt bother opening a link to a thread about an artist i dont like. i just find it very odd how he spends more time posting about mariah than whitney, if he doesnt even like her. can a thread be renamed? this one should be retitled "Mariah/Whitney New Albums" because theres prob just as much if not more talk about whitney than mariah. and more people have been talking about whitney on this thread than the whitney one! Kev seems like the only one posting on it anymore, someone would think he was having a conversation with himself.

I'm sure there are people who probably shit talked whitney on here, but do you know who? I guess if it helps him to take it out on us! I dont talk shit about her. I like whitney, i would go as far to say that she has been able to hold onto her voice longer than mariah. however, i think that we have heard other whitney's before and since (even though none can compare) but theres no one like mariah. also, i just have an easier time connecting with her songs. Which are just some reasons why i like mariah more, is there harm in that?

i have to go there though... whitney is/was a crackhead!!! i dont mean it as a diss, just the truth! just like mariah cant dance!

Current issue of People magazine gives "Memoirs" a perfect 4 stars out of 4 stars. The more I listen the more I like it. Am loving "Ribbon" and "It's A Wrap", among others.

I liked "It's A Wrap" from the beginning and it's been growing on me even more. Same with "Candy Bling", it's real light (Say Somethin', Underneath the Stars, Honey), I can imagine this being a laid-back summer single. smooth vocals, then really hitting em near the end, and easy to move to. I think it'd be easy for new and old fans, kids and adults to get into. The only negative with this one is that it sounds too much like a Dream track.

"Candy Bling" is flawless love the slow groove (it's been my late night bath time treat for a week now)

Loved "Ribbon" since i heard the 30 second clip before the album dropped.
"H.A.T.E.U" is just too good, nothing else to say.
"Inseparable" is such a flawless vocal i swoon.
Loving "Angels cry" but the last 30 seconds are just classic Mariah its the best Run of the album. (and the prelude is the reason i love Mariah forever)
The reprise of "The impossible" is nice too, love the groove, again.

Really loving the tempo if this album, feels like she did it just for me.
My only complaint, no JD...hopefully he will get in on a remix or something

So, for the morons who want to compare Whitney's comback CD to Mariah's newest release, how bout lets compare Whitney's comeback cd to Mariah's comeback cd, as it should be.

Emancipation of Mimi
11+ Million worldwide, 2 #1 singles, 4 Top Twenty hits, 3 of which were Top 10, 1 of which was #2 and the other two #1.

I Look To You
About 1.5 Million worldwide, 2 singles barely made the Top 100.

And..so THAT is the comparison. Two albums after I Look To You, and we can compare it to Mariah's current release. But until I Look To You even gets to half of what Emancipation was, I think anyone comparing Whitney's to Mariah's NEW album, should shut the fuck up and sit down.

Completely agree with you guys. I would only add Up Out My Face. It's not on the same level as the others, but still stands out, especially if you like Shake it Off type songs.

With the songs Elle mentioned, I'm a little surprised that IWTKWLI is the 2nd single.

So, then take off a few million of Mariah's - whatever, that's still seven million more albums. The fact is that Mariah's "comeback" had a bigger impact than Whitney's has had on the industry. It's laughable to compare the two, really...

First of all, Mariah's "comeback" album was CHARMBRACELET with "Through The Rain".

Second, it is indeed UNFAIR and WRONG to try and compare an album that was released in today's shitty market to one that was released 4 or more years ago in a much better market.

Both ladies are releasing both of their albums NOW, at the same time, in the same kind of market/music state. And these are the two albums that WILL be compared with each other. Not Whitney's latest one with one of Mariah's older ones. Please. That's not how it works.

Oh btw, that "fat" picture of Mariah is hilarious but totally fake! She has gained some weight but no where near the size in that pic. It is kind of funny though. You can Youtube that performance from last Friday and clearly see she's not even close to being that fat. Still loving her new CD too. Listened to it twice today. The more I listen the more I love it. She's such a great artist. And Kev, quit hating. Everyone here knows that Whitney is awesome and amazing. We just like Mariah too. I don't have Whitney's new CD but have several of her older ones and have thoroughly enjoyed her music through the years. Will probably end up buying the new one at some point.

So by your method of comparison, Mariah beats Whitney. First, you have to compare I’m Your Baby Tonight with Mariah Carey, I don’t need to say anything about that. Then, Just Whitney to Charmbracelet; I think this is the fairest comparison because these albums are supposedly both of their worst, which Mariah outsells Whitney and charted higher (and add that the top 2 spots were held by much bigger albums, pretty good for worst album eh?). Their new albums are really the only other ones that you can compare.

Like I said, I don’t think you can even compare! If you compare albums released around the same time people will say, “well they are at different points in their career”. I agree, I think that the comeback album is more anticipated than “a couple albums after the comeback”. If you compare like albums (debuts, comebacks, peaks, etc) people will say “you can’t compare because of how the market was at the time”. I agree with this too. So no comparing.

Also, TEOM is her comeback in the sense that it was the greatest length of time between records and being away from the public. That time was one of her more drastic changes in her music and style. Plus you know people associate Glitter with Charmbracelet… not really a comeback. You know this, now you are just being stubborn.
