Re: Mariah careys embarrassing DRUNK acceptance speech at Film festival...

Well, you must catch her demonstration of how to apply her new fragrance!

:dead:

That was so awkward. And like Blueboy369 said, this chick actually had the nerve to wear a low cut black top with stockings and a garter belt -- on a daytime talk show! Wow, I just can't...I'm done.

Re: Is Mariah's voice finally recovering? Can it be?

One of her best vocals in a long time.

Re: Is Mariah's voice finally recovering? Can it be?

^I agree with you 100%. I don't think the material is the problem. I think everyone has a problem with the way she dresses.

Trust me: Straight men don't have a problem with the way she dresses at all.

Re: Is Mariah's voice finally recovering? Can it be?

^ LOOOOOOOL, but really, her image makes people misunderstand her

And just so you know, I'm a big fan of Mariah but I think her voice will never come back to what it's like in 1990-1996( i'm hoping everyday). Really, some of her live vocal performances in her peak time is even better than her vocal performance in the record now. It may be slightly recovered but never. She oversang too much

And whitney is even worse, at least Mariah can still hit all those notes, but Whitney seems to lost it completely

Still not understanding how Mariah is having vocal problems? Was she not singing correctly? Did she smoke? She appears to be in good health.

For the past 20 years, Mariah has been DESTROYING her voice with tons of songs that use very high belts and whistles notes plus her vocal nudules. Mariah Carey's song are the hardest to sing. They require a wide vocal range, power. I think that's the reason

Trust me...If you take out MiMi's "Whistle notes" her songs can be tackled by any singer with a decent singing voice....Having the Gift to Hit & Sustain "Whistle notes" is a unique gift and singers like Mariah & Lisa Fisher know better than to over-do it....

The most difficult song for any artist to sing is The National Anthem...It gets butchered on a regular basis...

Mariah Carey's songs are not only hard with whistle notes. As i said, They require a big vocal range, at least 3 octaves to hit all the right notes, and i'm not sure "any singer with a decent singing voice" can always belt as high as Mariah, or can go as low as her(females) or can go falsetto and many other singing techniques

Re: Mariah Carey Hits the Road Again; Announces "Angels Advocate" Tour

^I agree. 'Angels Cry' is one of her best songs ever. It's sad to hear what Ne-Yo's voice did to it.

It's not just necessarily how she sang. Mariah loves to drink and she's had nodules on her throat since she was young, apparently. Also, her schedule was extensive in her prime. It's rarely just one factor that destroys someone's singing voice.

I had to watch the video of Fly Like A Bird again, because I could not believe that she handled the song as well as she did.

You 're not sure but I am because I've witnessed it..."Hero" was sang by so many young singers in my area back in 94'....They didnt sing it like MiMi but they still sang the song and took it to the bridge...

The Difference TODAY is my friends can still sing the song LIVE..MiMi can't...Mariah sound AWFUL when she sang LIVE at the M.Jackson's funeral.."Live singing" is now a weakness...

I HIGHLY disagree... the level of difficulty in singing Mariah's songs isn't just about hitting certain notes, her breath control and pitch is wayyy beyond the comfort zone of many well-established singers today. the way her voice jumps from mid-range to falsetto and then to head voice is almost crazy... her voice has so much fluidity that it sounds like a music scale going up and down. A perfect example of this is her this performance that has no whistle notes but the breath control and pitch is what makes this song extremely difficult to perform live.. and it is 100% live ..|

This is definitely not a song any singer with a decent voice can sing

Now that's just untrue...pure and simple. Her songs are indeed some of the toughest to sing...neverming the whistle register. I'm talking about her "regular voice". What makes her songs tough to sing is the breath control, power, range, dynamics, song structure and melodic structure.
Some of Whitney's songs are also tough to sing...I've tried singing songs from both of them and I clearly noticed that Mariah's songs are tougher to sing. "Without You" alone is a GIANT of a challenge when it comes to singing...and it doesn't have whistle notes. That's just one example...

Re: Is Mariah's voice finally recovering? Can it be?

^I don't think I could have said it better myself. Just listen to Mariah Carey's 'Butterfly'. Who can sing that song like she can? Who can hit that ending run like she can? No one.

Oh yes! The killer runs that she executes...those are just the icing on the cake. lol

I agree! Even if you hate Mariah and her music you can't deny what an extraordinary singer she is. People can complain about how bad her music is now or how bad she sings now but her mark is already in history, she really gave her all to the music industry and no one can take that away from her. I think she is underrated, c'mon she has 34 grammy nominations and only won 5!!! While for the past 2 decades she has had the two most successful songs on the billboard chart... hmmm

IMO, it's not about commercial success...awards should be about artistic success. And there's MUCH better music out there than Mariah's.

Anyhow, she's left her mark in history alright. Today's singers always quote two vocalists as their big influences: Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.
Both of them were THE vocalists of their generation. No matter how their voice and music is like nowadays...they're legends on their own right. They've more than paid their dues.

Don't bring Hero. it is one of the easiest Mc's song. Just search for Outside, Fly like a bird, My All, Fantasy, Emotions, ect....

that's the reason we can never see any X-factor or American idol contestants take the risk to sing of of these

Re: what songs should mariah perform at her concerts???

I can't stop moving whenever I hear Love Hangover/Heartbreaker. . .When she did that on Diva's it was awesome!

One of my fav's which never got the love it deserved is The Roof. Dunno if she could pull off the slow low voiced jam live but I'd love to see her work it out!

Re: what songs should mariah perform at her concerts???

I want 'Butterfly'. Take out 'Subtle Invitation' and put 'Butterfly' in.
