I am one of the biggest MiMi fans. I have all of her albums. So picking one song is kinda hard for me to do because I honestly think she has so many amazing songs. But I think my absolute favorite has to be 'Butterfly'.

The music is so haunting. The lyrics are amazing and that run towards the end of the song is spine tingling.

I would have to say Breakdown, Butterfly, The beautiful ones.. oh and shake it off.

Shake it off is a simple r&b pop song, yet it really motivates me to move on past negativity and unnecessary drama in life
 
Mariah Carey - Merry Christmas II You

Mariah Carey may or may not be pregnant, but one thing’s for sure, she will be delivering a bundle of joy this holiday season. The sequel to the pop songbird’s Christmas album has been given an official title and due date.


Rap-Up.com has exclusively learned that Mimi’s upcoming holiday project will be called Merry Christmas II You. The II represents the follow-up to 1994’s multi-platinum Merry Christmas album, which spawned the now-classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” The new offering is scheduled for a November 2 release and will include original material as well as covers of holiday classics.

An accompanying DVD will also be released the same day, but there are currently no details on what exactly it will contain. The packaging was shot in the spring by famed photographer David LaChapelle and features a festive setting with fake snow, tinsel, and wooden reindeers.

Mariah’s manager Chris Lighty tweeted that she is working with the Home Shopping Network (HSN) to promote the project, which is guaranteed to be the perfect stocking stuffer.

I dont know how I feel about this new album. Mariah's music hasnt been my favorite in recent years. But that old X-Mas album is one of my favorite x-mas albums of all time. It's pure perfection.

The cover looks like a drug store exclusive CD, but I hope the music is good. Jessica Simpson is releasing her 2nd Xmas CD too, I'll check out both but I'm sure Mariah will win.

I actually like the cover. It's very festive, colorful, happy, joyous and bright...it's perfect for the Christmas season. It's a really pretty cover.

Her airbrusher really did magic with that one. Anyway, I wonder just how good this cd will be. It's going to be hard to top the perfection that was the first one.

I don't know. I like Mariah, but I cannot say that I can actually get excited over this album. I remember some songs from her first Christmas album, although I do not own it, and I loved them. However, Mariah's voice has deteriorated and her singing style has changed since that album.

Well, her voice has improved considerably this year and considering the people involved in this project I think this album's gonna be pretty damn good actually.

Will it top the '94 one? Most probably not but it might turn out to be a more than decent sequel.

Her voice was always quite unstable, very fragile...the slightest breeze and it would take its toll on her voice...exaggeration but not far from the truth. The bigger your range the more careful you must be.
Her voice during the Music Box tour wasn't in the best of its shape...quite frankly, apart from some performances that were really really good, that tour is really poor and just MEH vocal-wise.
But her voice has changed indeed for the worse. In 2005 it was strong because of the Charmbracelet tour (her voice was really good during this one) but then in 2006 it was HORRENDOUS, the worst I've ever heard from her...but this year I was surprised at how much her voice improved...I mean, it's definately not at 100% by any means but it really improved...almost all of the raspiness and hoarseness is gone, it's much more clear, she regained some of her power and agility back.

This is ALL live and from nowadays. I was specially shocked at the Make It Happen performance toward the end...they made a comparison to a remix from 1991 and guess what...she was able to nearly replicate the same vocals from 1991 LIVE...NOW! I was not expecting that! Big improvements...let's hope she continues recovering her vocal ability...

I used to be a huge fan of hers but then her music and live vocals started going downhill and I stopped being one. Her recent vocal improvements are what kinda brought me back...just curious to see her evolution from now on...hopefully her music will become better and more mature, specially now that she's about to become a mom.

Im looking forward to this a little, to see how she sounds and hoping it will be more like her xmas album and not like anything from 2005-now. I have to be honest, I think this is a last resort type move, E=MC2 didn't do really well, and her last album was a complete flop, I feel like this is a desperate move to stay away from another flop, to be completely honest. There is no way this album will do badly, so it's a good safe place. The reason she sounded good on tour is because the majority of the songs hard parts are from previous recordings, me and a few friends are quite into the divas and spend alot of time watching and studying performances. I'm not hating on her, I'm just being honest. She's not the only one who has done that.

I love Mariah and I hope this record is really big for her. I've been a fan since day one. Have all of her studio albums and love her music for the most part. Haven't loved everything in recent years but I do think she's immensely talented and makes great music. Merry Christmas II You II Mariah!

When I saw her on tour in 2006, it was the Tampa show, the 2nd on that tour. Her voice was pretty damn good. The Anaheim show, which they used for the DVD, not so much. So people judge based on what's used. If they had used the Tampa show as the DVD release, maybe she wouldn't have gotten as much criticism.

I, for one, cannot wait for the new Christmas album. The cover is hilariously airbrushed, but we all know she is preggers, so why portray that on the cover? I actually like it. Minus the "stuffed baseball" boobs.

I CAN"T WAIT, I never bought the original but if theirs one thing i like, its mariahs voice and her festiveness.

I personally liked her last album but it definitely wasnt a hit, she always lays low for a bit and then BAM! number 1 hit single all over again LOL... who knows, either way I'm hoping it is a bit more traditional.
