Re: Whitney Houston's New Song - "Million Dollar Bill"!!!!!

Sounds good,am surprised she still has a after all those years intense drug use. Anyways, love her, cant wait get her album.

That's what you get for having great technique (even though using drugs is bad). Proper training and technique ensures longevity. Even though her voice has passed its prime, it's still pretty good.

Re: Whitney Houston's New Song - "Million Dollar Bill"!!!!!

** Shakes my head @ the Thirst of these Crackney Houston threads **

There IS a thirst. And it's a thirst for good music. Music with an actual melody, and actual singing. Every decade, be it 70s, 80s, 90s, has had a distinctive sound worth remembering. What will 2000-2010 be remembered for, auto-tune?

Whitney Houston has a distinctive sound full of soul and her songs are comprised of melodies that make you feel them and not just hear them. So yes, NeoSlacker, there is a thirst, and I'm not ashamed of it. When you have a talent that makes people thirst, be sure to share it with us all (and no, I don't mean your dick).

Was Whitney ever trained? Even before the drugs her poor technique began to wear down her voice.

Re: Whitney Houston's New Song - "Million Dollar Bill"!!!!!

this needs to be remixed immediately...im a pretty big whitney fan, but i dont think this is enough for her to make a comeback

Re: Whitney Houston's New Song - "Million Dollar Bill"!!!!!

Form that clip the song sounds great, Alica and Swizz are going to be great together. But I can't help to wonder why I haven't heard much on the radio yet?

Remote - no worries, it was just serviced to radio today, and it doesn't officially impact until August 17th.

And as to remixes, they will be sick in the club!

Re: Whitney Houston Comeback CD Sept. 1st!!!

She didn't cancel. She's just going to do it the day before in the afternoon hours instead of doing it real early.

From the New York Post:

WHITNEY Houston is not a morning person. When she appears on "Good Morning America" in September, instead of singing live, her performance will be pre-taped the day before. "Lots of singers don't like to perform at 7:30 in the morning," explained an insider. Lesser stars would be forced to perform live, but Houston is such an icon and legend, the producers couldn't say no. "She's the music 'get' of the season. They are so happy to have her," our source said.

..|

Pre-taped aka edited to ensure she sounds good so that people think she can still sing sans crack. Most singers DO perform that early. Then again, we don't want her "coming down" from the high during the middle of her performance. And no singer is "forced" to perform. The excuse for the "pre-taping" is lame aka she won't be sober before noon.

Re: Whitney Houston Comeback CD Sept. 1st!!!

The New York Post is reporting that Mariah is getting nervous now that Whitney's making a comeback. !oops!

MARIAH'S SLOW-MOVING 'ANGEL'

mariah_carey.jpg

August 10, 2009 --

MARIAH Carey is said to be scrambling to complete her new album, "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel." "She's getting very nervous now that Whitney Houston is coming back," said our source. We're told Carey signed with manager Chris Lighty four months ago, but the album still isn't finished. Lighty told Page Six by e-mail, "My management company is dealing with [Mariah's] music, brand extensions and commercial opportunities. We love Mariah." Carey hasn't had a music manager since splitting with Benny Medina last September and has only released one single -- "Obsessed" -- off the album so far. We tried to get more details from Lighty, but he told us he was "at the beach" and couldn't talk. When we called her p.r. firm, a rep said, "We are no longer working with Mariah."

Yup, doesn't officially impact until August 17th.

And I think there's going to be some HOT remixes for this track!

Re: Whitney Houston's New Song - "Million Dollar Bill"!!!!!

I'm loving it! It's very old school R&B. The queens are gonna come together for this one!

Re: Whitney Houston Comeback CD Sept. 1st!!!

Please Whitney isn't doing shit to promote her album so Mariah doesn't have anything to worry about. Mariah has a fan base who will follow her shitty music no matter what. Mariah can have a crappy ass album and still get platinum. Whitney on the other hand has lost a lot of her fan base, she almost has to be introduced to the new generation.

Re: Whitney Houston's New Song - "Million Dollar Bill"!!!!!

You can tell this is an Alicia Keys song lol.

Why does she always have to write songs about feeling good when she's around a guy? xD

Other then that, love it. :D

lol....yeah you can definitely tell its an Alicia Keys song :p

Re: Whitney Houston Comeback CD Sept. 1st!!!

Hey, if you want to spin the "she's prerecording her appearance" as proof that she's an icon, that's your deal. But as stated, most people do it live. I had friends do GMA, or maybe it was Today. And they had to get up at 5am to do sound check. This after performing a concert the previous night. And no, they didn't like doing it at all. But they know that's the game. Part of being in the pop music industry is limp crudite yet again, signing your name for the thousandth time that day, and performing at weird hours for TV shows. If she's enough of a diva to make them change the rules for her, more power to her, but that doesn't increase my respect for her - it diminishes it.

lol I'm not spinning nothing. Take up that issue to GMA. They're the ones who said she's such a legend and icon that they'll let her perform in the afternoon rather than morning because they're just happy to have her on. That's their deal, not mine.

Frankly, I couldn't care less. It'll still be a LIVE performance, pre-recorded or not. The fact that she's BACK and choosing to do the show at all is the main thing. ..|

>>>Take up that issue to GMA. They're the ones who said she's such a legend and icon that they'll let her perform in the afternoon rather than morning because they're just happy to have her on.

What are they supposed to say? "She said she's too tired to do it in the morning"? :)

Lie. The NEW YORK POST said an "INSIDER" and a "SOURCE" says she's such a legend. AKA a nobody who doesn't know shit or doesn't exist. Because, you know, the NYP is totally reliable. Page 666 anyone? Bottom line is GMA needs the ratings, so they're willing to cater around Whitney's binge recovery time.

Re: Whitney Houston Comeback CD Sept. 1st!!!

^ All I know is I'll take Whitney pre-recording her LIVE performance over watching Mariah LIPSYNCH hers while barely moving on stage. ..|

Aw, how cute. You can't tell the difference between lipsyncing and live.

And you can't fault Mariah for something Whitney constantly does like "barely moving." She's a snoozefest on stage.

And I love how that article says Whitney is a singular force in music today, considering she hasn't had any recent music until now. Her label sure knows how to B.S. their way into delusional minds, such as yourself.

It wasn't live, silly lamb. No matter how bad you want to believe it was. She was LIPSYNCHING to PRE-RECORDED vocals....

'Diva' Carey exhausted staff on talent show
World Entertainment News Network
Aug. 17, 2009, 4:56PM

America's Got Talent judge Piers Morgan was left exhausted after Mariah Carey's guest appearance on the show - because the singer forced production staff to work around the clock to make sure her "three-minute" appearance was perfect.

Earlier this month, the pop superstar appeared on stage during an episode of the hit TV show, which is hosted by her husband Nick Cannon, to belt out her new single 'Obsessed.'

Carey wowed the judging panel - which also includes David Hasselhoff and Sharon Osbourne - with her pre-recorded performance.

But Morgan admits the spectacular rendition came at a price, because Carey had to make sure every tiny detail was perfect before she would let TV bosses air the footage.

"She's such a perfectionist. We were all in the studio until nearly midnight as she planned her three-minute appearance, right down to the detail of the lighting, sound and camera angles. And work with producers in the editing suite apparently continued to 6 a.m. until she was absolutely happy. Mariah has the reputation of a diva. But like most divas - from Piaf to Whitney Houston to Madonna - that's primarily because she'll do whatever it takes, however long it takes, to get things as good as they can be," said Morgan.

Anyone watch last night?

Nick Cannons wife Mariah sang her new song Obsessed. She looked cute, she was actually covered up, no cleavage spilling out of two sizes too small dresses, but she still dresses like a 14 year old. The outfit was nice but not on her. Her hair was like Sandy from Grease and she had on high heels that must have been at least 6 inches, she could barely move around.

I have to laugh when I watch a 39 year old woman singing lyrics 'why you so obsessed with me, saying that you sexin me'. @@

Anyway... she sounded like shit.. the song is garbage and she can't even sing live anymore. The show was live but her segment was pre recorded. The background dancers had all to do to be able to even lift her off the floor.. it looked ridiculous. She looked so awkward during the entire performance.

Nick Cannon.. he is adorable. It was cute seeing them with each other when she was finsihed singing but she seems like his mama or something.. I don't know, they just don't look like they go together. Is it just me or do they seem like a fake couple? Maybe its just Mariah she is so flaky, and Nick seems like such a cool guy she is lucky.

Mariah Carey Performs 'Obsessed' On America's Got Talent
posted by Sam at 12:39 AM

Mariah Carey's first televised performance of new single 'Obsessed' aired last night on NBC's 'America's Got Talent'. After seeing the amateur footage of the performance earlier this week (and not thinking it half-bad), I anticipated the televised version coming across better. Oh how wrong I was. Stiff, uncomfortable, heavily backed vocally (so much so she may as well have been lip-synching) and just flat out boring, this live showing was anything but 'diva' and really highlighted that Mariah is a shell of herself. One has to wonder; the show is called 'America's Got Talent', where did all of Mariah's talent go?

What do you think of the performance?
