Re: New Whitney Album/Song/Performance/Nominations [Mega-Merged Thread]

there's one thing i don't get, these Russian concert were a try out or something? Cause now there's a tourbook and dancers? I love that cause i thought the tracklist from Russia sucked. She did only three cuts from the current album. I want her to do more from this album ( FTL/ NBL/ Salute ect) and some oldies she can pull of in her current voice. IWALY can go as far as i'm concered cause she can't pull that of anymore. She hits some notes right but it's now like a karaoke version. I sure want her to do INRBIO and would love Watchulookinat but doubt if she would do any song from Just Whitney

Re: So I had a weird dream about Whitney Houston

Whitney was living with me and my family for some reason and one day I caught her drinking some brown liquor by the washer and dryer. Then she left the house in a hurry looking all shifty. You know the way Whitney looks sometimes, lol. (Her wig was a mess throughout most of the dream, by the way). So anyway, then I told my sister Whitney was drinking.
The next thing I remember is being at the store with Whitney and I could tell she was spazzing a little so I asked if she wanted to go look at magazines with me, knowing she wanted to go to alcohol aisle. She said no, and that's where she went, lol. Then she tried to leave the store without me, alcohol in hand.

Somehow I ended up in the car (a convertible with the top down) anyway and she was speeding and taking curves like she was drunk, cuz I guess she was. I was begging her to stop and she was laughing. Then somehow I became a white girl (????) and me and Whitney kept riding, laughing together, with our hair blowing in the wind.

The last part of the dream happened outside of a restaurant. Me and Whitney and some other random people were standing in the parking lot and Clive Davis came out of the restaurant in his nice suit and pointed at a black, expensive car in the parking lot and told Whitney it was for her. Whitney was like "Where did this come from". And Clive told her and then she was like "No, I mean who paid for it?" (She said that in her feisty Whitney way) and Clive told her some company bought it for her. Last thing I remember was Whitney sitting on the curb in her little black dress and wig next to a little boy and she was telling him she wanted to buy him some burgers and for him to eat 12 of them.

Sigh, I have no clue why I told you guys all this, but I just figured I'd share. Dreams are WEIRD.

Very entertaining story though :) I sometimes, do have weird celeb dreams like that...but I am still wishing that one of these days, I will have this dream that me and anderson cooper are like making out while he is like doing his cnn thing. Hot!

Yeah, I think those early Russian concerts from December were just "testing grounds" for Whit, or to maybe work out some kinks or something. Maybe just were meant to get Whitney back in the groove of things, since it had been a while since she had last toured or gave any big concerts. Those dates were separate from the "real" 'Nothin But Love' World Tour that is about to kick off. Now she's gonna have a whole new set list, whole new stage set w/ backup dancers, and there was a tweet on Twitter from the tour director guy who said he is directing some "screenwork" for Whitney Houston's upcoming world tour. So I can't wait!

...I just hope she sings more songs from the new album on these upcoming dates (which I'm almost certain she will). I definitely want to hear LIVE versions of "Worth It" (the new single, so i'm sure she'll be performing it), "Salute", "Call You Tonight", "I Got You", "For The Lovers" -- hell, the whole album!

Oh, and please bring back "I Have Nothing" to the set list! Or "I'm Your Baby Tonight". Or "Queen Of The Night". And definitely "You Give Good Love". My jam! :D

Are you Whitney fans ready for this? On January 26, 2010, Arista Records and Legacy Recordings will release the 25th (can you believe it's been that long?) Anniversary Edition of "Whitney Houston" the fabulous 1985 debut album that catapulted a young, stunning, lanky chanteuse from East Orange, New Jersey into the upper echelon of international pop super stardom.

This chart-topping, remastered original album includes five bonus tracks including Houston's A Cappella recording of "How will I know" plus a stunning live performance of "Greatest Love of All."

This Anniversary edition comes with a super surprise: a features packed DVD which includes three rare TV performances including "I am changing", from the 1982 Broadway production of "Dreamgirls," "You Give Good Love" from the first annual Soul Train Music Awards Show in 1987 and "Home" from Houston's national television debut on the Merv Griffith show in 1983.

('Whitney Houston' - 25th Anniversary Edition CD/DVD Package)

Originally released on Valentine's Day 1985, "Whitney Houston" entered The Billboard 200 at #166 the week of March 30. A year later the album began its first seven-week run at #1, then spent three weeks at #2 before reclaiming the top slot for a jaw-dropping second seven-week stand.

This musical neutron bomb became a fixture on The Billboard 200 for 162 weeks, including a record-breaking 46 weeks in the Top 10 and 14 non-consecutive weeks at #1.

The strength, beauty and power of this hit factory album-- including four chart-topping singles ("You Give Good Love", "Saving All My Love For You", "How Will I Know", "Greatest Love of All") -- made "Whitney Houston" one of the most loved and enduring albums in pop music history.

The album was the most top-selling debut album ever released by a solo artist and went on to sell more than 25 million copies worldwide while earning RIAA-certified 13x Platinum status in the US (in recognition of domestic sales of more than 13 million pieces).

In 1986, "Whitney Houston" not only earned a "Best Album" Grammy nomination, but Houston also took home her first Grammy that year in the "Best Pop Vocal Female" Category for "Saving All My Love For You".

Today, 25 years later, Houston remains undefeated as she holds the record for most American Music Awards (21) having won her first seven AMA's and an MTV Video Award in 1986.

Houston's performance during the 1986 Grammy Awards ceremony garnered the songbird her first Emmy for "Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety of Music" program. There was no doubt that Houston was a rising super star that would dominate the music charts for years to come.

"I cannot believe it has been 25 years since my first album!" writes Whitney Houston in her exclusive letter to fans appearing in the packaging for the 25th anniversary release of her debut. "I could never have done this without the support, encouragement and unconditional love from my fans all over the world. I love you all!"

And yet, Grammy wasn't very kind to Miss Houston. She was totally cheated out of the "Best New Artist" award because her duet with (the late...and missed) Teddy Pendergrass, "Hold Me," was released before her debut album, to minimal attention. Today, artists with many more recordings under their belts are routinely awarded "Best New Artist," and nobody blinks.

Re: So I had a weird dream about Whitney Houston

Yeah, she is my favorite Male Celebrity too. (Insert sarcasm)

Re: So I had a weird dream about Whitney Houston

LMAO!

whitney dreams are great!

i'll never forget the TMZ video of her getting out of the airport wearing one of her crazy fur coats. the camera guy said, "hey Whitney, aren't you worried about PETA throwing paint on your fur coat?" she replied, in such a way that only a real diva can, "haaaiiill naw. they know not to mess with me. that'd be the last bucket of paint they'd ever throw, i promise you." and then she cackled like a mad woman for the entire rest of the walk to her car. LMAO!

''''mind you, this was during Whitney's crack-days. pre-comeback.

From this past December...

Thomas_Noll-Whitney_Houston-Tanya_Noll.jpg

Multiple Grammy Award winner Whitney Houston started her global comeback in Russia this month (Dec) with a rehearsal concert at St. Petersburg’s Olimpiisky Ice Palace. The pop diva who is getting ready for her world tour, which starts in Japan in February 2010, resided at the Grand Hotel Europe during her stay. Seven Stars and Stripes Advisory Board Member and General Manager of Grand Hotel Europe Thomas Noll and wife Tanya, invited the diva to a casual dinner at the Caviar Bar Restaurant after the show. Ms. Houston, who obviously had a wonderful time, surprised the Nolls and other guests later on after dinner at the Lobby Bar with a few fabulous songs of her new album, “I Look to You”.

@ Davenavarrolover -- I guess this answers your question to what those Russian concerts in Dec were for. "Rehearsal concert."

Re: New Whitney Album/Song/Performance/Nominations [Mega-Merged Thread]

@ Jennifer Hudson and I Will Always Love You: Jennifer is really talented. She deserved her Oscar, and she's a good singer. But, she warbled IWALY too much for my taste.

@ The Grammy for Best New Artist: Whitney deserved that award, but Sade won it, so it's hard to grouse too much.

@ Whitney in that copper-colored dress: Haha. Photographed from just the right angle, she actually looks like she has an ass. Haha.

Whitney Houston Announces The ‘Nothing But Love’ World Tour

Y'all ain't ready

January 25th, 2010

Last October Whitney Houston teased that she would be hittin’ the road with a world tour titled Nothing But Love and today we get our first look at the first promo photo that will be included in the Nothing But Love tourbook!

012510_whitneytourbook.jpg

As you may already know, Whitney announced the tour by saying:

This is my first full tour since the My Love Is Your Love tour and I am so excited to be performing for my fans around the world after all this time. I am putting together a great show and cannot wait to perform the songs from my new album ‘I Look To You’, along with some of your favorites.

Our dear Whitney looks FANTASTIC! I understand the Nothing But Love World Tour begins Feb 6th in South Kore and continues onto Japan, Australia and Europe. She should be making her way to our sunny shores later on in the year. People, get ready, Whitney is coming back to the live performance stage!! I cannot WAIT!! Does she not look fantastic in this photo?
