^ Girl, neither you or the pressed dimwit are making anyone on here smell any coffee. And I don't care if its Folgers, Maxwell House or Starbucks.

We are Whitney Houston fans. Through the good times and the bad times. This thread is for celebrating her. And nothing is going to change our love/appreciation for her, and we won't be doing any "waking up", either. Hmm, you mad? Your hard work is for nothing - and the only thing you are doing for me is a favor by keeping this thread for my favorite diva bumped up to the top of the page and keeping the post count/view count growing. So as long as you and the pressed psycho-hater keep on with your shenanigans -- so will we. And we can go back and fourth like this till your arms fall off. I mean hell - I certainly don't mind...

Them Australians don't play lol. As much as I love Whitney, I laughed at her trying to hit them high notes. Its funny how people ignored the good shows and the bad ones get the huge spotlight.

>>>We are Whitney Houston fans. Through the good times and the bad times. This thread is for celebrating her. And nothing is going to change our love/appreciation for her, and we won't be doing any "waking up", either.

And there's the line, I think.

I love my favorite artists, but I don't want to see them if they can't deliver. And I don't mean "peak of their powers" - if they're at 80%, sure, it won't be quite the same, but it'll be enjoyable. But at the level she's at now?

Look, you might not care if she's not singing well, but apparently, the majority of concert-goers do. And if they're leaving unsatisfied, they're gonna cause her image to suffer. She's gonna have fewer fans at the end of the tour than she did at the outset. And maybe you're fine with that. Hell, maybe you PREFER that - because then you can prove what a "real" fan you are by sticking by her, which will now earn you a bigger slice of that Whitney pie. But the fact is if the tour goes poorly, her sales are going to suffer, and there'll be a much smaller chance of any tours at all in the future.

Of course, for all I know, we might all be getting played. Nothing succeeds like a success story, and there's no success story like triumphing over adversity. After all, she's getting more coverage now than she would've if she had put on a good show. Once all cameras are focused on her, what if she pulled out all the stops and made a "stunning performance"?

I'm sorry, is that fan or fanatic?

Actually - I'll take stan for 500, Alex.

Look, you might not care if she's not singing well, but apparently, the majority of concert-goers do.

Look, the majority of HER concert-goers are staying at her shows. It wasn't until she hit AUSTRALIA that concert-goers started up and leaving her show. And AUSTRALIA concert-goers are notorious for leaving concerts unsatisfied -- no matter who you are. So it's not just Whitney. And apparently, the majority of HER concert-goers are paying for her shows, STAYING at her shows, and enjoying her shows and being in her presence. It was only a select number of AUSTRALIA concert-goers that left. Nowhere else in any of her tour stops did people up and leave. So let's NOT get it twisted. The Australia media only chose to interview and publicize the select few who chose to leave. And the majority of people who attend her concerts are already aware of the present state of her voice and all the drama she's been through over the years. So the MAJORITY of her concert-goers give her the benefit of the doubt. The majority of HER concert-goers leave her show with the attitude "Ya know, she's not the same as she was 20 years ago, but she's still Whitney. And I love Whitney."

Give Whitney Houston a Break

Published February 24, 2010 by:

Why is it that we as human beings rejoice when we see a person down but rarely do we rejoice when we see a person is up or at least trying to do their best?

My case in point is that of one of my favorite singers of all time Whitney Houston. Last night on her tour in Brisbane, Australia she had some performance problems. The singer reportedly was breathless and had to take a break in the middle of her hit, "I will always love you," to drink a glass of water. So what?

What I don't understand about this is that Whitney has been doing some good performances since this tour began and we haven't heard about them, only the negative. I saw some clips of her tour in Korea and Japan, she seemed happy, performaned well and looked fabulous.

Considering her age and what her body has had to recover from both mentally and physically, Whitney is a trooper.

She is 46 years old and in the middle of a tour and had to get a drink of water, and once again I repeat the words, "so what?"

In a written statement a promoter of Whitney Houston concert questioned why Australians couldn't support someone "who has seen difficult times."

"She is now up on stage, warts and all, presenting herself like an open book for the world to see, and they want to ridicule Whitney," he said.

"I am personally amazed at the few who are trying to derail the project and say if they expected to hear the Whitney of 20 years ago, go buy a CD." Here! Here!

"If they wanted to see a true professional artist give 100 percent .....well come along and enjoy the ride of an amazing talent, on stage, letting her heart and soul out for us to enjoy."

One news commentator from Australia looked at the tour as a positive experience. She called Whitney sassy, witty and interacting with the audience. She said she realized before attending the concert that she would not see the Whitney of 20 years ago but someone different. She chose to enjoy the Whitney experience and was glad that she had attended.

Being the same age as Whitney only a couple of days younger, I can empathize what it feels like to be 46. At 26 I could go on the dance floor and dance for hours non stop. But now due to old age and health issues I
can't stay on the floor ten minutes before gasping for breath, hands on the hips and legs feeling like spaghetti! Ask Janet Jackson does she still have the full "control" of her mind and body that she had twenty years ago.

Anyway I digress, give Whitney Houston a break, she still is a great performer with style, grace and beauty and oh yeah.....she can still sting.

Re: New Whitney Album/Song/Performance/Nominations [Mega-Merged Thread]

I'm sorry, is that fan or fanatic? Seriously are you being paid by the Houston machine? You know the one that's trying to convince the rest of us that the Empress is wearing clothes, when we see she's clearly naked as a jaybird?

Here's what Whitney & Co should have done:

1)Wait a few more years until her voice recovered to release an album.

2) Instead of touring huge venues, she should have gone back to small, select night clubs. Barbra recently did that in New York (one time engagement) and Madonna also did that for her Girlie Show.

Someone for whatever reason is throwing Whitney Houston to the wolves telling her she is capable of clearly what she is not. That's not right and it's not fair to her or her legacy. Michael Jackson's "people" tried to do that to him and look how that ended.

This FAN hopes she will not be destroyed by those around her who's bottom line seems to be $$$$. "Oh, yes, Miss Houston, you can still hit those notes. You go, gurl. You sound better than in 1988, with your new mature voice. Wow, people have got to hear that! It's time for a world tour!!!" :^o #-o

I've been thinking that since I heard the album, I don't think her voice in the state its in is going to handle all these tour dates.

LOVE this!! What a nice read. Thanks 2 the author for this. Its such a shame that the good performances she has given during this tour havent got the attention that the recent bad ones got. The media sucks.......

Wait a few more years? She already 46. How much older did you want her to be before she made her comeback? 50+? She released the album and it went str8 to #1 and sold 2million so far. Thats fantastic. Maybe the NEXT album will be the one to look for though. Kind of like Britney spears "Blackout"/"Circus" albums. The "Blackout" was spose to be her "comeback" but the follow up to it "Circus" was actually the one that did better and got more acclaim. Maybe that will be the same case for Whitney and her next album........

Re: New Whitney Album/Song/Performance/Nominations [Mega-Merged Thread]

I don't know why theses 'has been' singers bother trying to be what they were. Sure Whitney Houston was a star performer, but she has wrecked her life and profession with her own issues and she must face the facts that she isn't a star any more, so why rip everyone off with low standard shows. Bow out gracefully Whitney, and stay home and do some gardening etc. And the way you carried on at the International Airport when your vehicle was a fraction late says it all....you are not a star any more.

Whitney, Whitney Whitney - I just don't get it! First of all, you don't need the money. Secondly, you know you must sound like crap and thirdly, you were obviously struggling! So why do it Whitney? Isn't it better for your fans to remember you the way you were, before you took God's gift and trampled all over it! What a damn shame!

Re: New Whitney Album/Song/Performance/Nominations [Mega-Merged Thread]

attended the Whitney Houston concert last night and it was appalling. If she cannot perform at 100% then she shouldn't be performing. Andrew McManus and Ticketek advertised that she would be singing all of her greatest hits. Well THAT didn't occur. She could barely sing. When you're paying a fair amount to attend an interntational act then you should receive exactly what you've paid for. Anthony Callea sang better than her, even his back up singer sang better than Whitney. We didn't pay to hear her religious experiences, about the deaths of her recent friends, to hear her back up singer sing, her brother sing and a soundtrack play while she disappeared for over 15 minutes (3 songs). I have never in my life been to such a horrible concert. It was a complete rip off. I want my money back. I've contacted A McManus. My next call will be to Fair Trading for misleading advertising.

Of course her Management and Andrew McManus Presents are going to defend the show. 80% of the audience want their money back.

Re: New Whitney Album/Song/Performance/Nominations [Mega-Merged Thread]

Life's hard when you have to deal with it eh Whitney?
You crawled out of a hole after your drug binge days, good for you on that. When people pay their hard earned money to see you perform they want value for money.
From what is written you did not give that value.

Re: New Whitney Album/Song/Performance/Nominations [Mega-Merged Thread]

It WAS a disaster! She couldn't hold the notes, was croaky, disappeared for half the time, talked for the other half time-wasting, had a recording of a song on while she was out back. Yes, her brother was good, and so were the backing singers, but I went to see her, not them. The new stuff was like doof-doof music, terrible, a terrible sound crew who didn't have a clue either. Then we all got blinded by the lighting. What a terrible night. She was shocking, exhausted, and unfit. I liked her years ago, but never again. If you are going to her concert, cancel it, get a refund, I wish I had, and am trying to get money back now, what a waste of my time and money. Response from Ticketek: "If you would like to direct your feedback to the promoter Andrew McManus Presents via email - info@ampresents.com or in writing - 460 Brunswick Street Fitzroy VIC 3065" I have asked for my money back, you should too. Shocking, shocking, shocking. The promoter should pay up, I can feel a Today Tonight phone call coming...

Re: New Whitney Album/Song/Performance/Nominations [Mega-Merged Thread]

I loved Whitney but last night was the worse concert I've ever attended. I'd like my money back too. Not one song she completed and couldn't hold any notes at all she sounded like Joe Cocker in fact the only songs she could sing were the Michael Jackson tributes (must say were the highlight of a bad night) . Turned her back half the time to us and I've never seen anyone perform with a towel???? Not good - don't waste your time! She would've done better if she just MIMED!!! Huge let down!!

Re: New Whitney Album/Song/Performance/Nominations [Mega-Merged Thread]

Whitney Houston coughs up an excuse for her abysmal performances

WHITNEY Houston's promoter has revealed the cause of her coughing and breathlessness during her Australian tour - she smokes.

Andrew McManus said the singer, 46, had refused to have her throat problems treated. He also said Houston was using her faith to help her get through her much maligned tour Down Under, which has been panned by critics and disappointed fans.

"Whitney smokes. God bless her, I can't tell her not to. She will not take any substances. She just will not. It is what it is," McManus said. "She's comfortable with the show she's performing. She knows she's not hitting every note like she used to. But it's value for money, it's Whitney Houston warts and all."

McManus said the gospel-loving Houston is aware of the haters and has told him to stop protecting her because the critical attacks may be God's will.

"I talked to her after the Sydney show. I told her I have her back but she said, 'If the good Lord wants me to be attacked and ridiculed that's the road I have to go down'," McManus said. "It's an interesting approach. Here I am being aggressive in trying to protect her and she said, 'I love you for it but let it go. I can only give my best, if that's not good enough, so be it. I'm comfortable in my own skin'." The promoter hinted that her performance tonight at Hope Estate in the Hunter Valley may be an improvement on her Brisbane and Sydney shows because it is outdoors.

"She's looking forward to singing outside and not in the confines of an airconditioned venue," he said.

Hope Estate officials said yesterday they had been inundated with calls from fans asking whether tonight's show would go ahead following her lambasted performances in Brisbane and Sydney.
