Re: Sad news..Whitney Houston has passed away

Two messages need to come from this and other celebrity deaths.

1) If you're a recovering addict, look closely at your friends. Many times you'll find they really aren't your friends at all.

2)At the end of the day, YOU are the one who chooses whether or not to do drugs or drink,no one else.

^ Yes.

If anything good can come from this tragedy, it is that it might serve as a cautionary example for others...

Your "dealers" are NOT your friends.

You think of them as a pharmacy, and they see you as a walking ATM machine.

If you think you have a problem with drugs, you most likely DO !

But, at any rate, R.I.P., Whitney. I was surprised to find myself tearing-up again reading this thread.

Pan Hellenic

i dont know what else to say except if you can't live for yourself, then live for the people that love you. if you can't live for the people that love you, live for the people that hate you, if only to prove the people that hate you wrong about the negative things they said about you. i am just so angry about this. rip whitney.

wow that is really poignant pan hellenic. i think i will try to live my life like that.

Re: Sad news..Whitney Houston has passed away

i have to question how honest a lot of people are being about their sorrow 4 whitney dieing. i mean her x bobby brown was on tv throwing up 2 fingers 4 her. i think he is just trying to capitalize on whitney's death, bcuz he knows their will probably be a movie about her life, and he can make some money off of it. fukn bastard.

Also i hope the reports of her being broke r not true, i mean i figure as famous as she was, she made a lot of money 4 the corporation she worked 4. i hope she stashed it away somewhere 4 her daughter and most loyal family members and friends, especially her mother cissy houston..

My Lord.....I am watching the Service and it's so Beautiful and wonderful going home service.....

I am truly at a loss for words....This woman was my FIRST Celebrity crush when I was just 8yrs old...Whitney's Beauty and that Voice cast a Spell on the World......Like others have said it seems so unreal that she is gone. SexyKev is one of Whitney's BIGGEST Fans online and I can't even imagine what he's feeling right now. I Love you Kevin and one of the best things about Whitney's walk on this Earth is having touched so many and the Joy her Music brought into our Lives and especially the dedicated fans..

I was out of town last weekend when the News broke. I was driving back from picking up food and NPR reported the news. I had to rush in the room and ask my friends had they heard...I just knew it was a mistake or something...

My Prayers go out to the Houston Family, Dionne and Whitney's band...They knew her best and Loved her the most....

Rest in Peace you Great Queen of Pop...

Meet Whitney Houston’s Rumored Lesbian Lover, Robyn Crawford

Most of the common theories surrounding Whitney Houston's descent into drugs and eventual death have to do with the influence of her husband Bobby Brown. Now there's a new interesting theory. Maybe it wasn't her marriage to Bobby that turned her into an addict but breaking up with her lesbian lover, Robyn Crawford.

While everyone has been talking about Whitney's private life in the past week, gay activist Peter Tatchell is first to say point blank that Whitney had a long-term relationship with her best friend and former assistant Robyn Crawford. Tatchell's theory is that Houston had to break up with Crawford and marry Bobby Brown to quash the lesbian rumors, and it was the heartbreak from dumping her "one true love" that turned her into an addict, not Brown's negative influence. This theory seems to dovetail nicely with the decades of rumors that Houston was, in fact, a lesbian (which Tricia Romano faithfully documented after Whitney passed).

A look back at the star from one of her closest friends

By Robyn Crawford

I met her when she was 16. It was at a summer job. I was working at a community center in East Orange, New Jersey, and she was working just like the rest of us. She was there to work. She introduced herself as "Whitney Elizabeth Houston," and I knew right away she was special. Not a lot of people introduced themselves with their middle names back then. She had peachy colored skin and she didn't look like anyone I'd ever met in East Orange, New Jersey.

She was nothing like the Whitney Houston she became but at the same time she was already there. She knew, and so did everyone around her. She was doing shows in Manhattan with her mother, and she'd change her clothes in the car and get on stage and do her thing. She hadn't signed her contract yet. But she was modeling for Wilhelmina because she was discovered on the street. She was walking in front of Carnegie Hall and someone walked up to her and said, "There's a modeling agency upstairs that's looking for someone just like you." She walked upstairs and they signed her. That's what it was like, that's what she gave off. She looked like an angel. When my mother first met her, she laughed and said, "You look like an angel, but I know you're not." And she wasn't. But she looked like one.

She chose the life she lived, and she chose it from the beginning. She knew the life better than anyone. Her mother was Cissy Houston, and she had been on the road with Dionne Warwick. She got her chops singing in church, and her mother said to her, "You know, you can always sing for free. You can always sing in church. You don't have to choose the professional life." But she chose because she'd been chosen. Some people sing just because. She was never like that. She had to put on her gear. She knew it was going to be a job and that's how she treated it. Once she committed to something, she finished it. Not long after I met her, she said, "Stick with me, and I'll take you around the world." She always knew where she was headed.

And we went around the world. I was her assistant and then her executive assistant and then her creative director. I was her point person for the day-to-day. I traveled all around the world first-class and anyone who ever worked for her will tell you her checks never bounced. You knew she was going to take care of you. She wasn't going to be in a five-star hotel while you were in a two. I flew the Concorde the way some people ride the bus. She shared the fruits, and she changed a lot of lives. The record company, the band members, her family, her friends, me — she fed everybody. Deep down inside that's what made her tired.

It was never easy. She never left anything undone. But it was hard. The Bodyguard was great when it was done, but it was a lot of work. She did the movie, she did the music, she did everything — and when she was done, she was done. She nailed it. The music supervisor brought her Linda Ronstadt's version of "I Will Always Love You" way before Kevin Costner brought Dolly Parton's version — and she always knew what she could do with it. So when Kevin came in and played it for her and told her he wanted her to sing it for the movie, she said, "Fine." She wasn't much for showing off what she had, except when she had to.

I always compare her performance of that song with a great athlete hitting his peak — with Michael Jordan in the playoffs. It was the absolute pinnacle of what she could do, of what anyone could do — and then she had to keep on doing it. Everybody wanted to hear her sing that song, and so she sang it. It didn't matter whether she had a cold, or wasn't in good voice; she had to deliver it, and she had it arranged so she could deliver every last note. And even if the note wasn't there, the feeling was. A lot of her songs were like that. They were a lot to deliver, but she delivered them every note, every time.

It's so strange that she died when she did. February was her month. Her first album was released on Valentine's Day, right around the time of the Grammys, right around the time of Clive Davis's party. It was an orchestrated thing. She was Clive's girl, his great discovery. And she died right before Valentine's Day, right before the Grammys, right before Clive's party. Of course, she was going. I don't know if she was singing, I don't know what kind of pressure she was putting on herself. But she was going, that's for damned sure.

People thought they had to protect her. She hated that. And that's what people don't understand: She was always the one doing the driving. Someone just called and told me that the family kept Whitney from seeing her. Nobody kept Whitney from doing anything. She did what she wanted to do. When people left her or were told to leave, they could never believe that Whitney would never call them — but she never did. She was working hard to keep herself together, and I think she felt that if she admitted any feeling of sadness or weakness she would crumble. One time, back when we were young, we were out, we were partying, and I said, "Listen, I have to go. I'm tired. I can't make it." And she looked at me with her eyes wide and said, "I've got to make it."

And that was Whitney. She could not pick up the phone, and that meant it was too painful. I have never spoken about her until now. And she knew I wouldn't. She was a loyal friend, and she knew I was never going to be disloyal to her. I was never going to betray her. Now I can't believe that I'm never going to hug her or hear her laughter again. I loved her laughter, and that's what I miss most, that's what I miss already.

I'm trying not to think of the end. I'm trying not to listen to all the reports. All these people talking about drugs — well, a lot of people take drugs, and they're still around. Whitney isn't, because you never know the way the wind blows. I just hope that she wasn't in pain and that she hadn't lost hope. She gave so much to so many people; I hope that she felt loved in return. She was the action, for such a long time. She's out of the action now. I hope she can finally rest.

Re: Sad news..Whitney Houston has passed away

I've heard them before..which if true is another reason she would have had to turn to drugs. Self-loathing and drug abuse go hand in hand.

Re: Sad news..Whitney Houston has passed away

The National Enquirer is publishing an alleged photo of Whitney's open casket on its cover this week. They did the same thing in Elvis' case. How low can you go?

I saw this on "Entertainment Tonight" last night. I was shocked! Then the dumb asses went and told the value of all the jewelry with which Whitney was buried wearing. If people will steal copper from homes, churches and buildings, don't you know her grave will be targeted too!

i was wondering the same thing also. i mean they buried her with 500k to 750k worth of jewels. y a public cemetery. her family could afford to pay for a private funeral home. since her grave is public some1 could not only rob the grave but also desecrate it for some reason.

And also from what i've been hearing about her past and her self destructive behavior, i wonder y hasn't ne1 brought up that whitney could've been abused (either mentally, physically, sexually or all) tht's what could've set her off on that deadly path of drugs, booze and self hatred. And i never knew their were lesbian rumors about her. She would make a pretty lesbian.

Whitney's Look To You Keeps me pouring Tears

I have always liked early whitney and alot of her songs from the 90's. I Own her first two albums on vinyl.. but before she passed I was one of the ignorant ones who put her down for having a problem, something all humans do. Now I wish I never said the things I said.

When her last album came out I never gave it a listen out of ignorance and made fun of her for being a druggie. Now as she is passed, I watched the video for the single I LOOK TO YOU. For some reason I can't watch the video and hear the song without tears coming down my face. IDK why I'm feeling this way. The look on her face is just heart breaking. Its as is the song is a foreshadowing emotion.

I Look to you is now my fave song by her.
I interpret the song as a cry for help as if not knowing her way anymore or having a reason to live. So lonely she looks to her fans or anyone willing to hear her soul.

Re: Who think that Whitney Houseon was murdered?

ps: good thing they didn't decide to make her funeral public and at the prudential center. newark wouldn't be able to handle that much people down there. the whole city would have to shut down. they need to stop blaming bobby brown too for her death. whitney been on those drugs before she hooked up with bobby.

imho bobby brown was probably not 2 blame for her drug use, but he didn't help to bring her out of it either. i mean he probably exacerbated her problems with drugs and booze. tht's y so many ppl h8 him. ppl have to villify some1, so y not him. i mean i dare some1 to say something about whitney's mom or daughter. and although i am not really n2 bobby's music, i've seen some of it on youtube, and i can't believe how much he has changed from a really cute guy on ''every little step'' to a lopsided, pudgy, needs to take a bath, and brush ur teeth looking man today. it's amazing wht drugs can do to a person.

Re: Whitney's Look To You Keeps me pouring Tears

for me it's I Will Always Love You. I cry so much when i hear this song. I was 3 or 4 when it came out on the radio and i remember walking around my house singing it - or trying to sing it - like she did.

Re: Sad news..Whitney Houston has passed away

The Lesbian Rumor was just that, a RUMOR...Whitney did an interview in the 90's and stated she was ALSO accused of being lovers with Rue McClanahan (of all people..LOL)...She laughed it off...

The Media wants to OUT every Celebrity..It's part of the initiation process when a Celeb becomes a Super-Star...Whitney certainly didnt get a pass...

Re: Whitney's Look To You Keeps me pouring Tears

I have been saddened about her death. I may have been moved to tears if I had watched the funeral. I'd like to try to remember her as she was when she was young, before the drugs.

Such a shame that she wasted such great talent.
