Re: I Will Always Love You, as good as Whitney

I'm not denying the fact that Dolly owns that song. When I say bitch please it's to point out nobody does that song better than Whitney.

Whitney, Mariah, and Celine. Nobody sings songs they've sung and do it better than them [-X

Bitch, please!

Whitney's was not even close to having the best version. Here's another that's miles ahead.

Cocaine Kills Whitney Houston

Singer Whitney Houston appears to have suffered a heart episode before accidentally drowning in the bathtub of a Beverly Hills hotel suite, according to coroner's officials who listed cocaine use as a contributing factor.

The autopsy results were released Thursday after weeks of intense speculation over how the 48-year-old pop star died. The case marks another high-profile Hollywood death connected to drug use, coming less than three years after Michael Jackson died suddenly at his Holmby Hills mansion. Jackson's death resulted from use of a surgical anesthetic for sleep, and his doctor was later convicted of involuntary manslaughter.

Houston had battled drug addiction for years, and the coroner's office found traces of several drugs — including marijuana, the anti-anxiety medication Xanax, the muscle relaxant Flexeril as well as Benadryl — in her system. But the coroner's office concluded that those drugs did not contribute to her death.

Cocaine did play a role, though officials would not say how much of the drug was in her system. Craig Harvey, the coroner's operations chief, said the toxicology findings "suggested chronic usage."

"She could have had a heart attack," rendering her unconscious, and then become submerged in the filled tub, said Ed Winter, the coroner's deputy chief for operations.

A law enforcement source said that no cocaine was found in Houston's room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel but that bottles of various medications were recovered. The autopsy found that the singer suffered from a pre-existing condition known as atherosclerotic heart disease.

David Campbell, a retired captain for the coroner's office, said the disease is often linked to blockages of blood flow to the heart.

Use of cocaine and other narcotics would intensify the dangers, he said. Cocaine can constrict blood vessels and reduce blood flow, he said.

In an interview with ABC News in 2002, Houston acknowledged using cocaine as well as marijuana and drinking heavily at times. She strongly denied using crack cocaine.

"Crack is cheap. I make too much money to ever smoke crack," she said in the interview. "Let's get that straight. OK? We don't do crack. We don't do that."

Last May, Houston's spokeswoman said the singer was going back into rehab.

Re: Cocaine Kills Whitney Houston

Of course it did. We all knew that as soon as she died.

Such a waste. It's a shame no one in her circle had the balls to stand up to her and tell her to get clean.

Re: Cocaine Kills Whitney Houston

Not a shock at all. The years of drug abuse caught up to her, just as it did to her cousin.

Re: Cocaine Kills Whitney Houston

What a shocker.... Ohh well. I'm not going to cry over spilt milk. She killed herself.

Re: Cocaine Kills Whitney Houston

Uh.

DROWNING killed Whitney Houston.

COCAINE(and the other drugs in her system) exacerbated the death.

I know you like stirring the pot in Whitney threads, but the very least you could do is read the articles you link to. Her official cause of death is by drowning.

If she had not been addicted to coke, the chances of her drowning in a bathtub would have been much less.

Re: Cocaine Kills Whitney Houston

Gary Numan has said, when standing over the coffin of his bass player and best friend who died of a heroin OD in 1984, that he felt no real sadness. Only anger. "What a waste." He didn't make excuses for his friend - he just knew he hadn't wanted to stop enough to actually stop.

I sort of feel this way now. She had many opportunities to quit, and most evidence points to the fact that she simply didn't really want to.

If she had never used coke, a lot of events going on her body would have never taken place - the heart episode, the need for pain killers, etc.

I'm not taking away from the fact that she had cocaine in her system(sadly it's not a big shocker), I just don't like the sensationalist title of the thread(nor am I shocked by who came running to make said thread) is all.

I will buy that argument when they start putting the official cause of death as a bullet, or a rope, for suicide victims. drowning was just the means by which the cocaine killed her. The drug problem, like the depression, was the actual cause of death.

Re: Cocaine Kills Whitney Houston

i see no reason to be sad or mad. she lived her life doing what she wanted to do. its her life. we all aren't perfect. we're human. we're all going to die one day so let's not dwell too much on the past or people that have died. let her rest in peace.

^what a fail. not sure if trolling or serious

Re: Cocaine Kills Whitney Houston

A friend of mine died a couple years ago. She was very drunk, slipped entering the shower (from what they could ascertain, and hit her head just so. One might argue that she died of blunt force trauma to the back of the head, or one might argue that her partying ways caught up with her. In the end, it doesn't really matter, does it?

It's not shocking at all that she had drug problems. Did anyone even see her talk about Cocaine and Crack on Oprah? She was talking like she was so in love with it.

And Freddie Mercury officially died from acute bronchial pneumonia - but the underlying reason he got that was because of HIV.

Regardless of how you spin it, Whitney had an acute cocaine problem, and is now the lastest 'poster girl' for the damage that drugs can do. I'm amazed that more of the the blinkered Whitney fans aren't calling for her supplier to be found and charged with manslaughter - anything to move away from the actual truth that the drugs killed her! Had she not had a line before she got into the tub, she may well be alive today!

Re: Cocaine Kills Whitney Houston

Hmm...

OK, a few things still strike me as fishy.

1) Oddly enough, according to her friends, Whitney hated bathtubs and ALWAYS insisted her hotel suites had walk-in showers.

2) Cocaine METABOLITES were found in her blood, which means cocaine that had already been metabolised. Meaning, she could have done the coke up to 72 hours prior. It's not like she snorted an 8-ball and got into the tub. (And even if she had....)

3) Granted, Xanax, a muscle relaxer and Benadryl are not the greatest combo of drugs to have in your system, but none were found at a level that could could in anyway be lethal to anyone.

4) Yes, she could have died of a heart attack. But, for most people the first signs of serious chest pains is PANIC, not slipping under the tub water and suds.

Ask yourself this question: Think of the last bath you took in a tub, and what an effort it would have been to contort your body so both your mouth and nose were underwater, and how wasted you would have had to have been to not realize you were not able to breathe for at least three minutes.

It doesn't quite make sense, does it ?

Conspiratorial ?

Yeah, a little....

But, it just doesn't make sense.

according to coroner's officials who listed cocaine use as a contributing factor.

They also found that water is wet, and daytime is a direct consequence of light from the sun.

Re: Cocaine Kills Whitney Houston

Is it that important for us to argue about what really caused her death? Whether she OD-ed to death or had a heart attack or accidentally fell into the tub due to decreased consciousness?

The autopsy findings only listed she had atherosclerosis, which predisposed her to heart attack. Whether it actually happened due to cocaine or not, or whether it made her slipped was beyond grasps. Plus, the blood cocaine level was high. She could die directly due to the drug effects or just stumbled and drowned herself. Nobody could know for sure except if there were recordings or witnesses during her time of death. The thing was she drowned. That's all.

Whatever happened, Whitney Houston's now not of this world. Let her rest in peace. Leave the autopsy findings and the consequences to the family and legal workers.

Re: Cocaine Kills Whitney Houston

^Yes, it is.

Undoubtedly SOMEONE is thinking about suing the hotel, for not making the bath drownproof and all... :p
